It is the second week for Get Lucky at number 1. Daft Punk now is the first French act having that honour for at least two weeks since seven years. Back than it was Bob Sinclar and his non official soccer WM anthem Love Generation that spent whole five unconsecutive weeks at the German Top.
Collaborating artist Pharrell Williams also is one of three artists landing at runners up position. It is Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke feat. T.I. + Pharrell that jumps 11 places still a week ahead of its proper release on CD. The track got huge support by Robin Thicke’s performance at the final of Germany’s Next Top Model. 3,72 Million people watched the show on TV.

Also PSY and Bruno Mars had a performance and profit from the airing. Gentleman rises seven places to number 25 again and his big hit Gangnam Style jumps full 19 places to number 61. And Bruno Mars’ new single Treasure enters at number 91 while Locked Out Of Heaven dips in again at number 92.

With a new album released the single applaus! applaus! by sportfreunde stiller takes a six place leap to number 4 this week. It is now the second best performing track of the band falling short only behind 2006 Nr. 1 song 54 74 90 2006. Ein Kompliment also gets back to the list–one can find it at number 99 which gives the track a 64th chart week.

A week ago 2 Chainz feat. Wiz Khalifa showed that there are big things to come with their new track We Own It. Now with promoting movie Fast And Furious 6 in theatres, 790 thousands watchers on the first weekend and the physical CD in stores the single jumps up to number 5 giving Wiz Khalifa his second Top 5 hit in a year.

Counting Stars by OneRepublic rises steadily. Now it reaches number 26 in its third chart week.

Last week there were 24 new songs entering the charts – as much as never before. This current week the result changes completely. We only have four new tracks in the list. The highest song entering the list is an old one. Stern des Südens gains new popularity duely to the success of soccer team of FC Bayern München that won the European Champions League on May 25th. A week later they also became master of the German DFB pocal–it is quite certain that the Bayern-Fans United rise some places further with their single next week. By the way–it is only the 19th week in more than 15 years that the single can collect. The sports team is much more successfull.

Highest new track comes in at number 42 thanks to the release of the Pacha Summer 2013 compilation. So far Bang Bang (Explode) was available only on independent download platforms. Now it is brought to the masses. The track itself is far from a really new composition. It is much more a further remix of the Explode theme by Shaun Baker last seen on the list in 2010 as Gib mir 10 (Explode 3). Back than Shaun Baker collaborated with Austrian Darius & Finlay. The new rework repeats that constallation: DF&S stands for the initials of the three producers.
Number 42 by the way is the highest place the tune ever reached in its eight years long chart life.

Upcoming single of JLO Featuring: Pitbull bounces around the list . This week it goes 73–37 reaching a new peak. The officially digital release was scheduled for June the 1st according to big seller amazon. Let’s wait where the track lands next week finally.

Nr.1 hit Need U (100%) by Duke Dumont Feat. A*M*E catches slowly fire in Germany too. The track rises 77–46 this current week. – Scheduled for June 21st Rihanna already now climbs with her new single Right Now to number 48. – Accompanied by a mix from David Guetta the single CD release of This is what it feels like by Armin van Buuren Featuring Trevor Guthrie was announced for May 31st. A week before the track re-enters the German list at number 61. Support also came from the release of the KONTOR House of Summer 2013 compilation.

Whatever the new demand for Birdy caused–the singer is one of the winners this week. Her top 10 track People Help The People rises back to number 67, her single Skinny Love re-enters at number 73. It is the highest position the track ever achieved.

Finally at the end of the list KE$HA Feat: WILL.I.AM; enter the list with Crazy Kids. The track already is available for almost a month–but the video was premiered not earlier than end of May on MTV. Now also TV addicted kids know the track.

ON May 26th Rocky III was aired for the 1000th time. Still the soundtrack attracs a lot of people. Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor enters the list afterwards at number 95 and so becomes the song with the longest chart career in 2013. It was first listed on September 6th 1982–almost 31 years ago.

Hot Spot 05-31-13

Here they are: Daft Punk (Featuring Pharrell Williams) climb to number 1 with Get Lucky after their album Random Access Memory was released and shot to number 1 on the album list also. It took the French men five weeks to land their worldwide smash at the top in Germany also. And it took them a whole 16 years to gain Nr.1 for the first time. So far they reached only once the Top 10 with One More Time in 2000.
The last Nr.1 coming from a French artist was back in summer 2011 when Lucenzo infected the country with his take on Danza Kuduro.


This week the survey counts 24 new entries–it is far and away the most amount of new songs in a single week for years. This result comes due to a big event taking place in Malmö on 18th of May. Most successive act ain't a Eurovision contestant but a band performing in Hamburg after the screening of the event. Frida Gold presented their new single Liebe ist meine Rebellion live. The party was broadcasted nationwide–so the track lands now at number 4. It is the first Top 10 hit for the band starting its career two and a half year ago.

Right behind Frida Gold the winner song Only Teardrops by Danish Emmelie de Forest lands. It is right now commercially more successful than the last winner song coming from Denmark Fly On The Wings Of Love in 2000. Additionally Only Teardrops is the best performing song coming from Denmark since March 2012 when Aura Dione released her single Friends.

The third new entry inside the Top 10 again is a song presented at the after show party in Hamburg. Madcon had their biggest success in 2010 when they delivered the soundtrack for the Eurovision flash mob dance. In 2013 the song One Life is more down to earth–the connection to the Contest seems be kept.

All in all there are 12 songs from the contest entering the list this current week. Never before the contest had that much impact on the sales charts. Except places 2 and 3 the whole Top 10 of the contest finds its way into the media control survey. The German entry Glorious by cascada completely failed in Malmö. It ended up at a low 21st place–the worst result since five years. Even the German audience was not really convincend. When the song was chosen it landed at number 6–not that bad. Now after it was performend in Malmö it can only reach number 33 in its second chart run. A sad result.

The song voted most in Germany on the night of the show was Kedvesem performed by Hungarian ByeAlex. A real surprise. On sales the song comes in as the third at number 39.


What else goes on in the list? A week before The Fast & Furious 6 started at theatres the first track from the soundtrack enters the list. It is We Own It by 2 Chainz feat. Wiz Khalifa. The track starts at an impressive number 28.

In theatres on May 16th The Great Gatsby sends two cuts of his soundtrack onto the list. Most loved song is A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got performed by Fergie • Q Tip • Goonrock. The track goes straight to number 41. At nubmber 74 lands Lana del Rey with Young And Beautiful.

After My City was re-released as a CD on the new label Epic Germany Follow Your Instinct see their track re-entering the list. The track starts its second chart run at number 42. The first one back in March propelled the track to number 24.

Finally the announced upcoming single Counting Stars by OneRepublic rises up the list and lands at number 51 in its second chart week. The official release date so far is not scheduled properly.

Hot Spot 04-05-13

Passenger holds firm at the Top a third week with Let Her Go. Following the 9 weeks run of Scream & Shout we have a similar situation at the top like last summer when Reckoning Song / One Day by Asaf Avidan / Wankelmut followed with a 6 weeks run at the Top to Lykke Li’s I Follow Rivers that spent five weeks at number 1.

P!NK launches her sixth consecutive Top 10 single in Germany with Just Give Me A Reason. The one who managed that last was French DJ David Guetta in 2011/12.

Propelled by the release of the album Native the current OneRepublic single If I Lose Myself returns to the Top 10. It lands at number 6 reaching a new peak while the album stops at number 4 which is a new peak of the whole album career of the band.

Also with freshly released album band Silly founded 1978 sees its single Deine Stärken enter the Top 20. It is the first time that a song of the band can reach that region. Additionally they performed the song at the ECHO award ceremony on March 21st.

The ceremony aired on TV turned out to be a big sales promoter. Big winner became unsurprisingly a band that celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. Die Toten Hosen got four awards including the one as best band national, for best hit and best album. At the show they performed with Hannes Wader. As an effect new single Draussen Vor Der Tür enters at number 20 and their known hitsAltes Fieber and even Tage wie diese return to the Top 50.

Other effects can be witnessed as following: SEEEd reaches the list with Deine Zeit at number 70 after their performance. The song is released as full single also. New single release of Peter Plate–singer of Rosenstolz–named Wir beide sind Musik (We two are music) got support by the performance at the show. It is the second comeback of the singer after taking a break for health reasons but the first time he appears as a solo artist. / Santiano performed its song Es gibt nur Wasser (There is only water)–the track not released as a proper single enters the charts as an album cut. / Finally rapper CRO's first hit Easy dips into the list again at number 97.



Another big TV event is seasonal issue of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS). It now approaches the more intense phase. In the second live show participant Ricardo Bielecki turned out to be the most impressive singer. His version of Impossible (originally recorded by Shontelle) caused a run on the latest version by British X Factor winner James Arthur which made that recording shoot to number 8 in Germany. He is only the third European act inside the Top 10–a situation not witnessed for a several years.

The big show act of the DSDS issue on March 23rd was the winner pair of 2011Sarah & Pietro. In comparison to the upcoming stars the old ones failed completely. Their new single Dream Team only can rise to number 41.For both the worst appearance of a single released by them ever.

Further performances causing a boost in sales of older singles: the youngest of the candidates Erwin Kintop performed Won’t Let You Go–the original by James Morrison returns to number 51. In January the song already had a two weeks run after Tim David performed the song in the same show.

Beatrice Egli sang ich will immer wieder … dieses fieber spür’n which brings the original by Helene Fischer after three and a half year back to the list. By peaking at number 30 it is Helene Fischer’s most successful hit.



The release of some new remixes of Play Hard by Albert Neve, Maurizio Gubellini & Spencer & Hill brings David Guetta feat. NE-YO & Akon back to the list. They re-enter number 35–the highest position since the track first appeared in the survey in past September.

The third week inside the list Nelly’s Hey Porsche enters the Top 50. How far will it finally go?

After 18 years of absence from the charts Roland Kaiser returns with the title track to a Tatort aired on March 24th. Egoist is the 24th chart track of the artist. His career now spawns about more than 36 years.

After it is released on the new BRAVO black hits compilation Lost by Frank Ocean can enter the list for the very first time. It is the very first chart entry for the US rapper in Germany.

In Britain Clown is the latest official single from Emeli Sandé’s album Our Version Of Events–it is the sixth official single. Now also in Germany the demand on this track starts. It enters the list as an album cut at number 93. Additionaly Emeli Sandé could be soon become the artist with most appearances in the charts in 2013–she by now collected 35 chart entries in 2013 alone. Only German rapper CRO has four entries more.

That's what European party pop sounds like: East vs. West

Seven of the 10 best sold tracks in Germany in the week 6th to 12th May name at list one European act as main artist. Pretty much! The Top 5 is completely ruled by European producers (if you count RedOne as a European too which is not completely correct). Perhaps we might witness a further run of European acts to the top – the German „super stars“ probably will loose their crown of being the most sold tracks in Germany. But there are several tracks of the Eurovision contest performing really strong within the recent iTunes charts.

Let’s go back to the official media control chart which is reflecting some older events. A new European hit (in both meanings coming from Europe plus being popular all over Europe) lands in the German list at number 27. It is Romian Alexandra Stan who comes with Mr. Saxobeat – well known Romanian Euro pop like served by INNA still catchy – the video more or less simple (I would call it Eastern Europe like but we all know – there are some people living in Eastern Europe as well who really not share the cliché of the men eating and sexy high heel woman). Having Edward Maya, INNA and Alexandra Stan in the charts within a year means a Romanian pop invasion never seen before. The country seems to really take a place on the map of pop music.



From the opposite of Europe comes Bob Sinclar. The other French DJ who invaded the German charts a few years ago is back with a infectious „collaboration“. He took one of the signature tracks of 1977 from Italy A Far L’Amore Comincia Tu sung by Italian star Raffaella Carra and did a 2011 rework. A funny video shot in Milano featuring a lot of fashion stars like Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana and ready is the new hit. Indeed the original was a European hit climbing to number 9 in the UK (under the title Do It Do It Again) and reaching number 4 in Germany making her known as a one hit wonder in these countries. In Italy (and as well in Spain) she is still a star – just presenting the Italian results at the Eurovision final.

The remix Far L’Amore comes to Germany via Switzerland and Austria where the track already ranks as a medium hit. IN Germany it starts its chart life at position 64.

The DSDS final shows the biggest impact on the overall sales. Number 1 and 2 are the final contestants. And even a song again performed in the show jumps up the list again although it did so several times before. I’m talking bout Run made famous by Leona Lewis. Her take is again a massive downloaded hit jumping 58 – 26 in the weekly survey. And again: I really don’t know who did not yet bought that track. It is the 63rd chart week at all – the 33rd alone during her recent chart run.

Another funny DSDS effect: Marchin’ on by OneRepublic is back in the chart after a three months break. It enters at position 92 – I guess that new interest is caused by the very often mentioned similarities between winning song Call My Name.


Smaller new hits arrive at the very end of the chart. Spanish musician HUECCO enters with Idiota a single released in 2006 for the first time. It is his second chart hit in Germany. Why he now can attract a broeder audience – I really don’t know. Probably he had some TV adverts running as his new album Dame Vida is going to be released in June and some concerts in Germany are announced.

An Italian Band singing German – that’s a thing hard to find. Frei•Wild from Brixen in South Tyrol is the one that achieved some wider popularity. Their latest offering is a special edition of the album Gegengift (Antidote) for the 10th anniversary. That edition includes a completely new single also: Weil du mich nur verarscht hast (Cause you was kdding me). As always it is a track very inbetween irony, self-righteousness, humour, machoism and wisdom. Fans for sure do know what the band is „really“ thinking. The track enters at position 87.



Austrian Darius & Finlay launch their seventh chart hit in Germany. For She’s A Freak the dance project took Tibration into the studio – simple dance floor stuff charting at 91.

At the very end of the list Herbert Grönemeyer as the third German artist this week enters the German chart. Fernweh (wanderlust) is the second single from his album Schiffsverkehr (Ship Traffic) and the 34rd charting single naming him as artist. Fernweh is new at position 93.

Boring list refused by MTV

Once again a week chart which is not published at MTV's site. Well the now pay TV channel is having a lot of doubts wether German singles charts are cool and worth be published or not. Troubles at the site are common since years. Once I asked the editors why. They responded somewhat like: we work on it and trying to be reliable. Looks like they did not mean it. I wonder why all these troubles only appaer around the German list. I can’t remember of one week the British or US-charts had some omissions. Speaking clearly: the German sales charts are somehow uncool. Why? – Ask MTV. Or media control.

By the way – I had correspondence with IFPI, the initiator of compiling charts for the music industry. They told me that they are unhappy about this situation. Charts should be more visible and important. But they also told me it's not their business working for it. Seems that the German sales charts will more and more disappear from public life. Instead of them lists compiled by iTunes et al are becoming much more important right now.

The main story here is not about music itself but about the marketing of music. I guess it shows where the music business right now stands in Germany. Let’s go back to the real stuff:
A completely static top 5 lacks of stuff for hot stories. Highest mover are Taio Cruz featuring Kylie who having kind of a slowburner with their Higher. Started shortly before Christmas the track entered at no.10 as the highest new entry. In other weeks that would be the best result they ever would have – not so during the turn of the year. Higher climbed 3 places and stalled there around for three weeks. Now it profits by the weakness of Bruno Mars and rises again one place entering the highest rank for the track: no.6. It is the highest rank Kylie had in Germany since her huge Can’t Get You Out Of My Head hit the top in 2001 and her best selling collaboration ever. For newcomer Taio Cruz it is still only the lowest of its three chart hits here. One could argue who is supporting who more. Concernig recent headlines and news Kylie leads the race as one can find tons of tweets and interviews about her tournee plans and launched parfums.

Higher is successful especially in German speaking countries. I really wonder why. Is it that the lyrics are to simple for English speaking countries? Is it cause German radio stations really love the track and stimulate the online sales by playing it again and again? I don’t know. Fact is Higher climbed up the airplay and download charts almost simultanously even days and weeks after the physical release entered the shops. Maybe the carreer of Higher is once again a story about the digital market and the complete turnover of the whole business.

Still only digital available is Adele’s Rolling In The Deep which rockets up the list entering the top 10 this week. The physical release crashed in the shops after counting was closed for the recent list. Expect her much higher next week cause physical sales count more in Germany as the charts are listing the tracks with the best amount of money not the quantity of sold tracks.

One of the few movers within the list are OneRepublic. The band found some more audience for its Good Life. propelling it into the top 20. I do have no explanation what exactly made the track so popular the last days. A catchy melody well produced … it was it already before. They had a few performances around ... hmm.
Hardly new releases keep the way open for understated tracks. We should take that as the reason.

Finally for today: best sold German track still is Winter by UNHEILIG. I told you before – there are no stories around. Let’s cross fingers for next week.

13. November 2009: Erste Nr. 1 für Ich + Ich

Nun haben sie es also geschafft. Ich + Ich landen nach ziemlich genau fünf Jahren Chartspräsenz ihren ersten Nr.1-Hit. Pflaster, die Vorabsingle zum Album Gute Reise springt in der ersten Woche nach Erscheinen auf CD sofort auf die Spitzenposition und lässt alles andere hinter sich. Pflaster ist dabei relativ gewohnte Kost: ein zutiefst romantischer Text auf melancholisch, leicht bewegter Melodie, Adel Tawils Stimme wie immer zwischen leidender Emotionalität und expressiv forderndem Ton. Etwas ungewöhnlich, aber doch sehr eindrucksvoll der Einsatz von Streichern und Bläsern, der einen Hauch 007-Romantik in den Titel bringt. Das Ganze trifft also genau den Nerv des aktuellen Zeitempfindens und krönt die Karriere der Band, die so richtig im Frühsommer 2005 Fahrt aufnahm, als sich Du erinnerst mich an Liebe bis zum Platz 4 der deutschen Verkaufscharts emporschwingen konnte. Das Debüt-Album Ich + Ich konnte sich daraufhin bis zu Platinstatus verkaufen (mehr als 200.000 verkaufte Einheiten). 2007 folgte Vom selben Stern mit den Singles Vom selben Stern, Stark und So soll es bleiben, alle drei unter den Top 3 platziert, jeweils über 10 Wochen in den Top 10 gelistet und noch heute immer wieder in der Verkaufsliste präsent.

Nun folgt also Pflaster und es ist nicht nur der erste Nr.1-Hit für Ich + Ich, sondern auch jeweils der zweite Nr.1-Titel für die beiden Bandmitglieder Annette Humpe und Adel tawil. Letzterer stand unter seinem eigenen Namen an der Seite von Azad mit dem Prison Break Anthem vor etwas mehr als zwei Jahren für eine Woche an der Spitze der deutschen Charts. Annette Humpe dagegen war das erste und einzige Mal an einem Nr.1-Hit beteiligt als Mitglied des Projektes DÖF – ausgesprochen Deutsch-Österreichisches Feingefühl. Im August 1983 war ihr Hit Codo (düse im Sauseschritt) für fünf Wochen die meistverkaufte Single in Deutschland. Und auch heute noch gehört dieser Titel ja so ziemlich auf jede gut sortierte NDW-Party. Mit etwas mehr als 26 Jahren gehört Annette Humpe nun auch zu den Nr.1-Künstlerinnen mit der längsten Ausdauer. Zum Vergleich: Madonna bringt es momentan auf einen Zeitraum von 21 Jahren, in welchem sie Nr.1-Hits abliefern konnte; Nena steht mit 22 Jahren in der Liste. Und Robbie Williams, der vormalige Chart-König und nunmehr mit Bodies nur noch Platz 2, kann auf 14 Jahre und 192 Tage Nr.1-Präsenz verweisen.

Der zweite CD-Singlestart hat sich bereits seit ein paar Wochen durch ziemlich hohe Downloadzahlen in den iTunes-Charts angekündigt. Mit Erscheinen des physischen tonträgers gehen dann auch die Umsätze in die Höhe und bescheren OneRepublic ihren vierten Charthit in Deutschland. Abgesehen von ihrem Durchbruch Apologize waren sie seit Oktober letzten Jahres nicht mehr in den Charts präsent gewesen. Mittlerweile ist ein neues Album im Kasten, der Titel Waking Up, Veröffentlichungstermin ist der 13.11. und wieder einmal gibt es eine nicht 100% einleuchtende Vermarktungsstrategie seitens des Labels. In den USA und in der Schweiz wurde als Vorabauskopplung All The Right Moves ausgewählt, für Deutschland und Österreich ist es Secrets. Wie auch immer, Ryan Tedder und Co können mit beiden Titeln ganz gut punkten. Secrets ist dabei ein recht schlüssiger Radiosong, ganz gut produziert mit einigen Rockelementen, statt verstörender Töne wird leber zu Streicher-Triolen gegriffen … kann eigentlich nichts schief gehen. Und so landet Secrets auch folgerichtig am oberen Ende der Liste. Platz 3 ist das bisher zweitbeste Ergebnis für die Band und der insgesamt dritte Top 10-Titel in Deutschland. Insgesamt also ein ziemlich guter Schnitt und OneRepublic befinden sich damit auf dem besten Weg zur kommerziellen Superband.

Auskopplung Nummer 3 aus dem aktuellen Album Undress To The Beat legt Jeanette vor. Solitary Rose geht schon ordentlich in Weihnachtsschmonzette. Und obwohl sich ja alle immerzu beschweren, dass es mit jedem Jahr früher zu weihnachten scheint, der Titel funktioniert und bringt Jeanette nach dem etwas mißglückten Versuch mit Material Boy einen weiteren Top 20-Hit, den 16. ihrer Karriere: Platz 15 in der ersten Woche nach Erscheinen als Silberling.

Auch das jüngste Winderkind aus Kanada, der 15jährige Justin Bieber, ist mit einer nächsten Single-Auskopplung da. Sein Debüt-Hit One Time ist noch gar nicht richtig raus aus den aktuellen Charts, da startet schon One Less Lonely Girl in den Verkauf. Fast sieht es so aus, als wolle die Plattenfirma keine Zeit verlieren und jeden Tag des Teenie-Stars nutzen. Klar, schnell ist er dann im Rüpelalter und für die aktuelle Zielgruppe nicht mehr relevant. One Less Lonely Girl hat definitiv seinenCharme, auch wenn ich mit der jugendlichen Naivität und Romantik gar nichts anfangen kann. Die KäuferInnenschicht hievt den Track auf Platz 22.

Party-Discofox-Trash mit Jürgen Drews, Axel Fischer und Anna-Maria Zimmermann

Eine Woche mit nur sieben Neueisteigern ... das ist schon recht beschaulich. Der höchste von Queensberry mit einem Cover des Hits der Shakespeare’s Sisters aus dem Jahr 1992 Hello (Turn Your Radio On). Und es ist irgendwie auch tragisch festzustellen, dass dies dann auch schon ungefähr der interessanteste CD-Neustart der Woche war. Natürlich schauen wir uns trotzdem auch die anderen nochmal an.

Für meine Begriffe ungewöhnlich erfolgreich startet Jürgen Drews in seinen nächsten Karriereabschnitt. Der Schlagerbarde hat sich mit Ich bau dir ein Schloss nun auch endgültig dem Discofox zugewandt. Bereits im Juli erschien der Titel als Download-Single und brachte es auf Mallorca zu einiger Bekanntheit, was ihm auch eine Verewigung auf diversen CD-Kompilations einbrachte. Rechtzeitig zum Start der fünften Jahreszeit ist also auch eine Single-Version erhältlich. Das Ganze klingt irgendwie auch nach dem Sound der 70er, in welchen Jürgen Drews seine großen Erfolge feiern konnte. Bisher landete er zweimal in den Top 10: 1976 mit dem Nr.1-Hit Ein Bett im Kornfeld und ein Jahr drauf mit Barfuß durch den Sommer (damals Platz 6). Ich bau dir ein Schloss kann mehr als dreißig Jahre danach an diese Erfolge anknüpfen und landet auf Platz 10. Wie gesagt: eher überraschend. Zuletzt war Jürgen Drews im jahr 2005 mit Der arme Idiot / Flying Through bis auf Platz 75 gelangt.

In die selbe Kategorie wie Jürgen Drews gehört auch axel fischer. Allerdings finde ich, man muss schon wirklich Fan von Disco-Techno-Fox-Schlager sein, um das zu mögen. Da wo Jürgen Drews eigentlich das macht, was er schon immer macht, und das ja in den 70ern auch absolut seine Berechtigung hatte, da dockt Axel Fischer an, und ich versteh gar nicht recht, warum eigentlich. Was hat ein doch noch junger Mensch eigentlich mit diesem eher angestaubten Genre am Hut? Auch Du trägst keine Liebe in dir gibt mir darauf keine Antwort. Auf der CD-Single findet sich neben dem neuen Titel auch ein Rosen-Mix des Vorgängers Amsterdam. Die CD steigt ein auf Platz 60, für Axel Fischer relativ mager. Der Hit aus dem letzten Jahr Amsterdam in Zusammenarbeit mit Cora beweist dagegen auch ein Jahr nach Veröffentlichung noch ordentlich Kraft und steigt von der 98 auf die 80 – höchste Platzierung seit Mai diesen Jahres.

Die Sparte „Wir haben Spaß bis zum Koma“ ist glücklicherweise nicht die einzige, mit der momentan Umsatz gemacht wird. Etwas durchdachter und trotzdem nicht ohne Party geht es auch. culcha candela beispielsweise legen mit Monsta ihre zweite Single-Auskopplung aus dem diesjährigen Album Schöne neue Welt vor. Diese kann noch recht gut punkten und landet direkt auf Platz 18, der insgesamt vierte Top 20-Hit für die Berliner Band. An den ganz großen Erfolg, den sie 2007 mit Hamma und Ey DJ einfuhren können sie allerdings momentan nicht anschließen. Eventuell braucht es dafür doch noch ein klein wenig mehr an Neuerfindung. – Der Titelsong des Albums Schöne neue Welt rutscht derweil von der 42 auf die 44.

Zu einer zweiten Karriere startet derzeit das Projekt Glashaus um Moses Pelham. Bislang gab es von ihnen neun platzierte Singles mit Cassandra Stehen als Sängerin. Am besten schnitten dabei Wenn das Liebe ist 2001 mit Platz 5 und Haltet die Welt an 2005 mit Platz 11 ab. Nun heißt die neue Stimme Peppa und ihr Debüt Das Hier schafft in der Woche der Veröffentlichung den Sprung auf Platz 43. Das ist zwar momentan wesentlich unspektakulärer als die großen Erfolge des Projektes, aber für einen Neustart gar nicht soo schlecht.

Während die letzte Single der Kings_Of_Leon Use Somebody so langsam ins Off schliddert, diese Woche runter von der 78 auf die 86 in der insgesamt 23. notierten Woche, während dies also passiert, steht die neue Auskopplung in den CD-Regalen. Notion ist die dritte Single aus dem Album Only By The Night. Natürlich ist von einer dritten Auskopplung auch nicht mehr die Power zu erwarten wie vom Signet-Titel, insofern ist Platz 69 wohl völlig in Ordnung und wahrscheinlich auch ein schöner Abschluss für diese Runde.

Ungewöhnlich, aber offensichtlich doch möglich ist, dass der Tourstart einer Band zu massiven Steigerungen im Verkauf führt. In diesem Fall waren es a-ha, die mit ihrem Auftaktkonzert in Köln am 27. Oktober vor 10.000 begeisterten Zuschauer_Innen überzeugen konnten. Die aktuelle Single Shadowside klettert in Folge von der 36 auf die 22, das Album Foot Of The Mountain geht nochmal rauf auf die 14 und die gleichnamige Single schafft sogar einen Wiedereinstieg auf Platz 38. Es ist die insgesamt 19. Chartwoche für den Titel, der Anfang Juni fulminant auf Platz 3einstieg und die zweitbeste Platztierung einer a-ha-Single überhaupt darstellt. – In der Zwischenzeit wurde auch bestätigt, dass es Ende November eine weitere Auskopplung aus dem Album geben soll: Nothing Is Keeping You Here wird dann die 30. Single der Norweger sein.

Und wenn wir schon bei den Wiedereinsteigern sind: Wie immer spielt hier TV eine große Rolle. Zweitwichtigster Fernsehevent der Woche 23. bis 29. Oktober nach den Popstars war offensichtlich „Die neue Hitparade“ auf RTL II am Sonntag, den 25.10. Mallorca-König Jürgen Drews schafft es ja mit Hilfe seines Auftritts nach 30 Jahren wieder in die Top 10 (siehe oben) und DSDS-Sternchen Anna-Maria Zimmermann darf mit ihrem Mallorca-Hit 1000 Träume weit (Torneró) ebenfalls auftreten … prompt wird der Titel auch wieder ordentlich verkauft und kehrt nach zweimonatiger Pause wieder zurück in die Liste der 100 bestverkauften Titel. Ende Juli war sie auf Platz 71 erstmals notiert gewesen, schaffte es innerhalb von fünf Wochen bis Platz 68 und verschwand dann. Wie gesagt: nun ist sie wieder da und ihr Titel steht auf Platz 84.

Auch noch einmal in der Liste steht Amy macdonald mit ihrem Hit This Is The Life. Vor knapp einem Monat verließ er die Liste und ist nun in der 52. Woche auf Platz 98 notiert.

Letzter Rückkehrer sind Timbaland presents OneRepublic mit dem Ex-Nr.1-Hit Apologize. Der Titel wird seit April erstmalig wieder notiert, und zwar auf Platz 100. Grund für die gesteigerte Nachfrage ist die anstehende neue Single von OneRepublic Secrets. Laut iTunes-Charts dürfen wir diese in der kommenden Woche ziemlich weit oben erwarten und natürlich greifen da einige Downloader auch noch mal zum alten Erfolgstitel. Warum Secrets allerdings nicht schon jetzt platziert ist, weiß ich nicht. Vermutlich wird der Titel von media control noch als unveröffentlicht geführt und darf deshalb auch nicht in der Liste erscheinen … dämliche Vorgehensweise.

Jahresende 2008

31. Dezember – Zeit, nochmal kurz auf das vergangene Jahr zu schauen:
2008 kannte laut media control vor allem einen Hit: „Apologize“ von Timbaland presents OneRepublic aus Timbalands 2007er Album “Shock Value“. Am 23. November 2007 stieg dieser Titel direkt an der Spitze der deutschen Single-Charts ein und hielt sich dort acht Wochen lang, bis am 25. Januar 2008 ebenfalls mit einem Sprung auf die Position 1 Leona Lewis mit “Bleeding Love“ die Nachfolge antrat. Diese rangiert in der Jahresendauswertung von media control auch gleich auf Platz 2. Beide Künstler konnten sich 2008 mit weiteren Hits sehr gut verkaufen. Timbaland taucht (zumindest in den Booklet-Credits) gleich auf Platz 9 zusammen mit Madonna & Justin (Timberlake) und “4 Minutes“ auf. Außerdem noch auf Rang 76 mit “Scream“, dort als offizieller Partner von Nicole Scherzinger und Keri Hilson.
Leona Lewis war nach ihrem Debüt “Bleeding Love“ mit “Better In Time“ im Frühsommer noch einmal sehr erfolgreich und kann sich damit auf Platz 22 der Jahresendauswertung behaupten. Aktuell ist sie mit ihrer vierten CD-Single „Run“ vertreten.

Nun hat ja media control aus Gründen der besseren Vermarktbarkeit nicht wirklich das komplette Jahr 2008 als Auswertungszeitraum. Die Jahresendcharts liegen jeweils schon Anfang Dezember vor und werden dann auch in allerlei TV-Chart-Shows breit getreten. Auswertungszeitraum ist also Dezember 2007 bis November 2008. Wollen wir das Jahre etwas genauer eingrenzen und beachten, dann lohnt ein Blick auf die Auswertung von musicline.de. Allerdings werden dort nicht die Umsätze zusammen addiert, sondern jeweils die Chartauftritte mit Punkten bewertet und zusammengerechnet. So gibt es dort ein etwas anderes (und irgendwie auch spannenderes) Bild:
Auf Position 1 stehen hier Ich + Ich mit “So soll es bleiben“. Insgesamt 35 Wochen war das Duo platziert, vier Wochen konnte es sich auf Platz 3 halten. Der zweite Platz geht an Ida Corr vs. Fedde le Grand und „Let Me Think About It“, welches ganze 40 Wochen notiert war und damit zugleich den Titel stellt, der 2008 am längsten präsent war. Für die dänische Sängerin und den niederländischen DJ ging es bis auf Rang 14.
Erst auf Platz 3 steht bei musicline.de ein Nr.1-Hit. Aber keiner von den bereits oben genannten. Hier ist es Duffy, die mit “Mercy“ das Rennen macht.
Die beiden Spitzenreiter von media control werden bei musicline.de auf Platz 5 („Bleeding Love“) und 7 („Apologize“) geführt.

Was noch so an lustigen Statistiken über das Jahr 2008 zu erzählen ist, folgt hier (natürlich nicht zu ausführlich, denn media control hat ziemlich strikte Regeln, was die Verbreitung und Auswertung ihrer Charts betrifft):
Timbaland war der Musiker, welcher 2008 am häufigsten in irgendeiner Form in den Charts vertreten war. In der Summe mehr als 130 Wochen, die sich auf 7 reguläre Veröffentlichungen (wo er als Künstler offiziell auf dem CD-Cover genannt wird) und 3 weitere als Background (bei Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado und Madonna) verteilen. Außerdem zählt dazu seine Tätigkeit als Produzent für u.a. Ashlee Simpson. Mit dieser langen Liste dürfte er unbestritten der aktivste Künstler 2008 gewesen sein.
Als ausdauerndste Hauptacts konnten sich Ich + Ich durchsetzen, die 2008 mit 6 verschiedenen Titeln auf 116 Chart-Wochen kommen und damit Amy Winehouse (101 Woche mit ebenfalls 6 Titeln) im letzten Quartal des Jahres die Führung abgeknöpft haben.

Das Thema Dauerbrenner war im Jahr 2008 besonders aktuell. Die Bereinigungs-Regel für Titel unterhalb Position 50 besagt, dass jeder Titel, der 9 Wochen in den Charts notiert war nach seiner zweiten Notierung unterhalb Platz 50 aus der Liste gestrichen wird und erst wieder aufgenommen wird, wenn er mindestens Platz 50 erreicht bzw. nach einer Dauer von 3 Monaten. Danach beginnt die 9-Wochen-Zählung wieder von vorn. So weit die Theorie: In der Praxis kommt dazu, dass über entsprechende Internetportale mittlerweile ständig verfügbar sind und nicht mehr abhängig von den Angeboten klassischer CD-Händler. Noch vor 10 Jahren wäre ein Titel nach seinem Ausscheiden aus den Charts in Ramschregalen verschwunden und mit höchster Wahrscheinlichkeit nie wieder aufgetaucht. Heute sind drei Monate kein Hindernis mehr für Titel und in schöner Regelmäßigkeit tauchen aktuelle Dauerbrenner immer wieder in den Listen auf und schaffen es dabei noch zu ansehnlichen Platzierungen. In der Gesamtauswertung hat das den Effekt, dass die aktuellen Top 10 der am längsten platzierten Titel in diesem Jahr fast komplett umgekrempelt wurde von Titeln, die sich 2008 noch gut verkaufen konnten. Zwar steht als Spitzenreiter noch Wolfgang Petry mit „Die längste Single der Welt“, welches ganze 81 Wochen notiert war, aber ich bin sicher, in einem Jahr steht hier ein anderer Titel. Vielleicht ist es „Dieser Weg“ von Xavier Naidoo, der 2008 noch einmal 10 Wochen in den Charts stand (Höchstplatzierung 83 im März) und es nun auf 79 Wochen bringt. Mindestens ebenso gute Chancen auf die neue Führung hat der Weihnachtsklassiker „Last Christmas“ von Wham!, der in der Auswertung bei musicline.de jetzt 78 Wochen stehen hat. Auf den Plätzen 4 bis 8 stehen folgende Titel:

Mit 4 Top 10-Titeln („Don’t Stop The Music“, „Shut Up And Drive“, „Take A Bow“ und „Disturbia“), davon drei direkt aufeinanderfolgend, konnte sich Rihanna wohl am erfolgreichsten in den Charts platzieren. Betrachtet man, dass die beiden anderen Singles 2008 von ihr, nämlich ihre Zusammenarbeiten mit Ne-Yo („Hate That I Love You“) und T.I. („Live your Life“) mit Platz 11 und 12 als Höchstposition nur ganz knapp die ersten 10 verpasst haben, so ist ihre Bilanz noch wesentlich eindrucksvoller und Rihanna derzeit wohl der beste Garant für einen Bestseller.

Einen Rekord ganz eigener Klasse stellte Paul Kuhn im Sommer auf. Durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit Mario Barth “Mensch, Berlin“ gelang ihm im Sommer nach 43,5 Jahren Pause die Rückkehr in die deutschen Charts. Er ist mit diesem Ergebnis 2008 auch der Künstler gewesen, der die längste Chartkarriere vorzuweisen hat. Natürlich ist dieser Rekord umstritten, denn die wöchentlichen Charts gibt es erst seit 1971. Paul Kuhns Platzierungen in den Jahren 54 bis 65 gehen zurück auf die monatlichen bzw. 14täglichen Auswertungen der Zeitschriften „Der Automatenmarkt“ und nach 65 auf die 14täglichen Listen veröffentlicht in „Der Musikmarkt“. So wie es Jörg Amtage und Matthias Müller in ihrem Compendium schreiben, sind dies die entsprechenden Charts zu den heutigen Top 100, aber nicht immer ganz einfach zu handhaben. Zum Teil wurden in dieser Zeit die Ergebnisse von gleichen Titeln unterschiedlicher Interpreten zusammengezählt und es lässt sich heute nicht mehr sagen, welche Version nun die eigentlich populärere war, bzw. ob einzelne Versionen in einer separaten Zählung überhaupt die Platzierung in der Liste geschafft hätten. Es ließe sich an dieser Stelle anmerken, dass es auch heute ähnliche Ungenauigkeiten gibt: So ist beispielsweise nicht immer eindeutig zuordenbar, welche Versionen von Michael Jacksons Hits sich in diesem Jahr platzieren konnten. Waren es die Originale oder die Remixe 08, die teilweise mit Gastkünstlern versehen worden waren. Auch bei Xavier Naidoo ergibt sich eine Ungenauigkeit: zur Veröffentlichung der unplugged-CD „Wettsingen in Schwetzingen“ stieg auch „Ich kenne nichts“ wieder in die Liste. Im Original eine Zusammenarbeit mit RZA, wurde es in Schwetzingen in anderer Besetzung interpretiert. Laut Downloadlisten war es genau diese unplugged Live-Version, die als Einzeltrack gekauft wurde. In den media control-Charts tauchte dennoch die alte Kollaboration auf.

Die Nummer 1-Bilanzierung habe ich in den letzten Wochen aus Anlass schon ordentlich breit getreten. Katy Perry ist 2008 die Künstlerin mit den meisten Wochen an der Spitze, ihr Produzent und Songschreiber Max Martin der erfolgreichste Künstler im Hintergrund. Die am längsten auf der 1 platzierten Titel kamen von Schnuffel („Kuschel Song“) und Kid Rock („All Summer Long“), die jeweils 8 Wochen die Liste anführten. Der Gerechtigekit halber muss an dieser Stelle auch „Apologize“ von Timbaland presents OneRepublic genannt werden, die insgesamt auch 8 Wochen an der Spitze standen, aber ihre Vorherrschaft bereits Ende 2007 begannen.
Madonna war die Nr1.-Künstlerin welche diese Position schon am längsten kennt, nämlich genau 21 Jahre. Am 8. Mai 1987
8.5.1987-9.5.2008 enterte sie mit “La Isla Bonita“ erstmals die Spitze, am 9. Mai 2008 stand sie zum bislang letzten Mal unterstützt von Justin Timberlake mit “4 minutes“ auf der 1.
Der Nr.1-Act, welcher am längsten brauchte, um 2008 endlich ganz nach oben zu kommen war Rosenstolz. Zehneinhalb Jahre brauchten sie seit ihrem ersten Auftauchen in den Charts um mit “Gib mir Sonne“ erstmals und nur für eine Woche am 12. September die Position 1 zu holen. Verglichen mit Herbert Grönemeyer, der etwas mehr als 18 Jahre brauchte um sich zum Nr.1-Star zu mausern (im Jahr 2002) ging es bei Rosenstolz dann doch schnell.

One Hit Wonder Of The Year war Paul Potts. Mit der Puccini-Arie “Nessun Dorma schaffte er es im August bis auf Platz 2 und verkaufte sich bis zum Jahresende in ordentlichen Stückzahlen. Einen weiteren Hit konnte er allerdings bislang nicht landen.

Letzter Gimmick: Nach 25 Jahren und 28 Tagen schaffte Michael Jackson es, seinen Hit “The Girl Is Mine“ auf Höchstposition zu bringen. Am 8. Februar 2008 stand er auf Position 21 und überbot deutlich seinen Bestwert aus dem Jahr 1982. Damals stieg der Titel zum Jahresende auf der 53 ein verschwand nach 4 Wochen wieder. Ganz regulär ist dieser Rekord allerdings nicht: 1982 war Michael Jacksons Partner Paul McCartney. Im Jahr 2008 war seine Stimme kombiniert mit der von will.i.am. Die Aufnahmen von Herrn Jackson sind jedoch die selben.
