April 7th 16: Best Performing No.1 Since Eight Years

Shape Of You seems to be nailed to the top. It is the 13th week there and so matches the result of Lady Gaga's Poker Face in spring 2007, although the lady made it in two runs separated by a three weeks break. The last song occupying the top for 13 consecutive weeks was Dragostae Din Tei by O-Zone in summer 2004. That song had a 14 weeks run at the top–a stat to eclipse in next weeks time.
If one is keen on records this might be interesting: Ed Sheeran now matches the result of Tom Jones who was listed at #1 for 13 weeks with Delilah. Exactly it ruled the chart issues from 1st of May to July 15th 1968 (counting till July 31st 1968). So far Tom Jones served as the British solo male with the longest #1 ride.

Still and steadily rising Jax Jones reaches #3 this week with You Don't Know Me. The track is noted for an eighth week.

At the lower end of the top 20 two songs entering. First one Symphony by Clean Bandit the succeeder of #1 hit Rockabye. Featured singer is Zara Larsson. Both with Symphony have a fifth top 20 hit–Clean bandit only if one count their unnamed appearance on Do They Know It's Christmas in December 2014.
At #18 US American rapper Future reaches the top 20 for the very first time. Mask Off goes up five places in its fifth chart week.

Highest new entry starts chart life at #30. It is the first song off anounced album Ich bin 3 Berliner by Berlin rapper Ufo361. Für die Gang might be the first sign of an upcoming invasion of this song chart's newcomer.

Roots by singer songwriter Alice Merton seems to be a sleeper hit. In its ninth chart week the song reaches the upper half of the list for the very first time. It rests so far at #43.

The real gainers are:
That's What I Like by Bruno Mars going up 33 places to #51 in its second chart week
Ciao Adios by Anne-Marie going 25 places to #46 in its third chart week

To forecast a real hit one should look at #84. There Menschen Tanzen Leben Welt by Jim Pandzko Feat Jan Böhmermann (both names are for one person) lands after a few hours of availability online. The song is a parody on German singer songwriter hits of the past months as released by Tim Bendzko or Max Giesinger. It is a given thing that Menschen Leben Tanzen Welt will have a place inside the top 10 in next weeks time.

Dec 16th 16: Clean Bandit & Sean Paul Got A Second #1 Hit and Imperator Kollegah Invades The List

After eleven weeks there is a change at #1: Rockabye by Clean Bandit Feat. Sean Paul & Annemarie benefits from the decreasing sales numbers of Human and becomes the 13th number one of 2016. It is the second for both Clean Bandit and Sean Paul, the Jamaican singer additionally is now the act with most number one hits in one year as this is the second one he appears on. And he is the first Jamaican artists gaining two songs at number one in Germany at all.
It is this again a number one song with a social story as lyrics–something a long time didn't happen that permanently.

alle farben launches its fourth top 10 hit within three years as Bad Ideas jumps 18–9. So far every single by the project that entered the charts at least reached top 10 status. This is a 100% sense for the mood of the day.
alle farben is the fourth German act inside the top 10–that means a presence of German act we didn't had for exactly a year.

With Hallelujah by the Pentatonix moving to #15 an interesting change of demand in Christmas tunes is obvious. Leading the list of seasonal tunes a comic rap track sits at #8 with Holz (Weihnachts-Edition) by the 257ers. Runners up is the a capella version of the Leonhard Cohen song followed by All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey recorded in 1994 ranking at #23 in its 50th chart week. The all time favorite Last Christmas by Wham! from 1984 drops 13 places to #27.

The new single by Alan Walker Alone indeed only rises one place now reaching #20. Anyway it is the third top 20 hit of the Norwegian artist in 2016.

A week before the release of the winter edition of their album Palmen aus Plastik (now named Tannen aus Plastik) MC Bonez & Raf Camora launch An ihnen vorbei. The track starts chart life straight at # 22 even outselling the best performing track from Kollegah's new album Imperator that rocks to #1 on the album's list. Kaiseraura only manages to climb to #28 but is one of 17 tracks that manage to chart as single track too. Only one single track from the album does not chart at all. By doing so Kollegah has most tracks simultaneously on the list–falling only one short of his own record set on May 23rd 2014. He also now is the act with most different tracks charting on the single's list–even outselling veteran Bushido. Of course he also is the act with most tracks not reaching the top 20. That feat only two tracks had the honour to reach in 2014. And the imperator is not at all the act with most charting tracks in a calendar year. This honour still belongs to MC Bonez who collected 26 tracks so far this year–six more than Kollegah.

With Kollegah invading the list the amount of songs in German is 36–songs involving Germans are 42. This is the best result of 2016 but still a bunch of tracks low than exactly one year ago.

All in all this week there are 19 songs completely new inside the list. This also is the biggest amount of whole 2016.

Nov 18th 16: Leonard Cohen + Omnipresent German Rapstars

It is week no. eight for Human by Rag'n'Bone Man at the top of the German list. The song now matches the result of New Age by Marlon Roudette which also had an eight weeks run at #1 in autumn 2011. Both singers now are best performing British male solo performers of this century so far. 25 years back it was Phil Collins with Another Day In Paradise who performed better.

Whether Rory Graham will match or even break this record really depends on how strong Clean Bandit will perform next days. So far Rockabye climbs one place to runner's up position and finally brings British music back to full performance. The first time since January 2015 the first two places are occupied by British artists. Funny fact besides: The act at #2 back than also was Clean Bandit well performing with its last hit single Real Love.
With four tracks of the top 10 involving British acts the country really have a strong presence in music business right now.

Climbing seven places to #6 Mark Forster once again becomes the best performing German act and brings back to top 10 status a song in German. Chöre is part of the official movie score to Willkommen bei den Hartmanns which leads the German movie charts for a second week. It is Mark Forster's fourth top 10 hit under his own name and the second this year. As part of EFF he does have a third top 10 hit under his belt and so follows as second best performaing act of the year behind Justin Bieber.

Talking 'bout Justin Bieber: As Let Me Love You this weeks leaves the top 10 the longest running top 10 song now is Sound Of Silence in the version of USAmerican Disturbed. It sits pretty at #7 in its 13th top 10 week–spending 24 weeks at all inside the German charts.

The current #1 in the US is the biggest gainer inside the German charts. It is the first chart entry for Rae Sremmurd Black Beatles that jumps 56 places to #25. It is very likely that we will see the track rising further next weeks.

After the death of Canadian Leonard Cohen his most famous songs find a way into the list as there is at first Hallelujah first recorded in 1984. The song charts at #27 for the very first time–at least in the version of Leonard Cohen himself. It charted before by Jeff Buckley in 2012 (18 years after it was recorded) Xavier Naidoo in 2014 and by the Pentatonix a week ago. The best performance so far had the version of Xavier Naidoo peaking at #27 too.
Leonard Cohen himself only had one chart hit before. It was his single Lover Lover Lover that peaked at #9 in early 1975. After 42 and a half year the singer is back in the list. It is the longest absence from the list since weekly charts are released. If one considers the monthly lists as well Leonard Cohen is beaten by Paul Kuhn who had an absence of 43 years and 153 days, Scott McKenzy who re-entered the list after 44 years and 197 days and Evy Jacob who reappeared in 2011 as member of the Dschungel Allstars after 45 years and 241 days. In June 1965 she charted as member of the Jacob Sisters.
With a span of almost 43 years Leonard Cohen has the third longest presence on the weekly lists after José Felícíano and Paul McCartney.
Leonard Cohen has two more tracks invading the charts. At #61 his very first single Suzanne from 1967 charts for the very first time. In France the song shot to #3 this current week. At #81 the title track of his latest album You Want It Darker appears. The album meanwhile occupies #2.

A few places below the next teaser track for KC Rebell's new album Abstand arrives. The track calls TelVision and features his mate PA Sports as well as Kianush and Kollegah. Latter one now collects his 50th chart entry at all. This result falls short behind the one of Depeche Mode and Scooter but only needed four years to achieve such an amount.
The same week Sido can launch a 45th chart hit with Masafaka landing at #65. He now overtook Michael Jackson (44 hits) and falls short of The Rolling Stones (46 hits).
All this sounds impressive but is only cute by watching the result of master Bushido. He appears this current week as featured artist on a 62nd chart entry mentioning his name. (Statements by Shindy at #67) It is as much as Madonna collected in her whole career. But the rapper additionally has three more hits undercover as a member of Berlins Most Wanted and 23. He officially can be called the second most active artist of all time. Leader of the list still is Peter Alexander with 82 different entries.

Rising tracks to watch:
Sexual by Neiked Feat. Dyo going 62–46 in its fifth week
Bad Ideas by alle farben rising slightly 57–47 in its fifth week

16th of Jan 2015: First New No1 of the Year

Walk by KWABS is the first new number 1 of 2015. The song benefits from the surprising weakness of David Guetta's single dangerous that tumbles to number 3 after six weeks at the top.
Walk goes number 1 in its ninth chart week–that ain't the straight way. And it is the first British number 1 since August past year which shows the actual low presence of British acts. There were times, when Britain ruled the whole list.

On the other hand British music shows very strong. The highest new entry lands at number 2 in the face of Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne and their new single Real Love. That makes us having the two best sold singles coming from Britain–a feat last seen on November 11th 2005. Back than Melanie C was on top with her hit First Day Of My Life followed by the Sugababes and their last big hit single Push The Button. Even a week before the two songs were accompanied by two other British acts at number 3 and 4: Robbie Williams and James Blunt were the acts completing the bunch. Those were the days…
Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne meanwhile start to becoming super acts. The band launches its second Top2 hit, the singer her third hit invading the Top 10–all that within less than a year.

Talking bout British acts: At number 6 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding arrive inside the Top10 with Outside. It is the first Top10 hit for the couple that already achieved number 13 in summer 2013 with I Need Your Love. Now it goes higher giving Calvin Harris his third Top10 in a row (and a fourth at all) and making Ellie Goulding visiting the Top10 for the second time (besides her appearance at the Band Aid 30-project).

In this current week there are only three new entries and three tracks re-entering the list. So only six songs had not charted the week before. This is the smallest turnover of the list since August 2011. Back in those days the charts changed much slower than today–a turnover of less than 10 songs occurred at least once within a quarter.

Tracks On The Rise
- Norwegian KYGO feat. Conrad with Firestone 84–33
- German Sasha with Good Days 57–38
- Last week's highest new entry OMI from Jamaica with Cheerleader 69-42
- Ariana Grande & The Weeknd with Love Me Harder 60–45
- Meghan Trainor with Lips Are Movin 83–53

2nd of May 2014:

Still it is Rather Be by Clean Bandit Featuring Jess Glynne that sits pretty at Nr.1 in Germany. It is already the fourth week for that track. Well–the top is very calm. And so are the ranks 2, 3 and 4.

The track bringing some change in the list is Budapest by British new comer George Ezra. After his song is released on CD the track shoots 12–5 in its 9th chart week. It is so far the second highest peak worldwide for the song. Only the Dutch charts report a current number 3.

Three places below the highest new entry comes in. It is the new single by Mando Diao Black Saturday that anounces the new album Aelita. It is the second Top 10 single in Germany for the Swedish band and its first chart entry since four years (of course the chart success for Caligola ain’t included).

Two German acts are jumping directly into the Top 20. And they together stand for the sound currently very successful in Germany. The first one comes in at number 10 and it is the third prerelease for Kollegah's upcoming album King. This week the title trackenters the list as the highest track Kollegah ever had launched in the single's charts. It really seems that he is the new king of German gangsta rap. His both predecessors Alpha and AKs im Wandschrank also made it up in the list climbing 30 places each.
The second new German song comes in at number 18. After its release as a full digital track She Moves - Far Away jumps from number 70. DJ Alle Farben is the latest of deep house inspired producers who make their luck on that sound invading the music scene since few months.

Casting Show Battle
The question is: Which one is the casting show with most influence. Usually one refers to the TV rates which sees Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS) at number 1. But hard on the heels The Voice Kids follows. Both emerge around 3 Mio. viewers every show aired. But what do TV rates really mean for highly commercial products? What do they mean if the sales of music do not correspond with the rates. That's the question raised against DSDS. RTL so far answers: it doesn't matter anything – there will be a season 2015 for sure. Meanwhile the market celebrates The Voice Kids as the more attractive show. This week a song returns to the list that already had a very proper chart career. Strong by London Grammar spend 23 weeks inside the charts since November 2013 peaking at number 33. On April 18th Saphira, Carlo & Hanna performed the song and propelled it back to the list–up to number 28. This late peak makes the song the slowest burner of 2014 so far–and compared to past three years it is a slow burner indeed. One or two tracks per year did take a similar time. Of course Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner's Sky And Sand are the far and away the longest sleeping hit peaking in its 83rd chart week in November 2011.

Still on the rise the American Authors can reach the Top 50 with their Best Day Of My Life. The remix by Just A Gent counts in the next chart issue. The full release of the CD single follows May 9th.
It took John Newman's current single Losing Sleep also a while for catching fire and becoming hit status. This week the song rises 82–57 although it is available for more than a month.

18th of April 2014:

While the charts of the UK at this very moment changing faster and faster–it is the 9th week in a row that Britain celebrates a complete new number 1–in Germany the turn of number 1 songs slows down further. Last weeks Top single is the top selling song this current week also. Rather Be by Clean Bandit Featuring Jess Glynne holds firm for a second week and is the fourth consecutive chart topper that spends at least two weeks there. In other words: since late December chart toppers managed to hold their position at least for two weeks.
What sounds quite noteworthy is not at all that spectacular for winter and early spring time. From NOvember 2012 to May 2013 we had five consecutive chart toppers spending more than one week at the Top. From December 2011 to May 2012 there were also five. So there is some way to go still before we proclaim a new record in calmness.
A static top ain't a static list at all. But this current week it is so. The whole Top 5 remains unchanged–a situation found on January 24th also. So decide yourself whether the charts are thrilling these days or not.

New inside the Top 10:
Australian Vance Joy slides up two further places landing now at number 9 with Riptide. In comparison with Route 94's My Love at number 8 it is the third deep house track inside the German Top 10.

The highest new entry starts lowly at number 32 which is the third lowest hot new entry this year. The honour goes to German rappers KC Rebell Feat. Farid Bang. Their Kanax in Moskau is a sequel to Kanax in Paris released in March last year and stopped at number 60.
Farid Bang with this current entry collects 13 chart entries no one peaking higher than number 28. He is hard on the way of becoming one of the artists with most charting tracks but never entering the top 20. On the actual summary of this list he stands at number 6. So German gangster rap is highly productive but still a product for a very small scenery.
One rapper with some more attention is Kollegah. His youtube channel Bosshaft-TV has half a million of regular viewers. Every week he releases at least five new videos and some days ago he was nominated five times for the German web video award which will be given late May. All that presence may help his single Alpha back to the list. It lands at number 35 again in its 7th chart week. For a gangster track this is a hilarious result. With a freshly released video also AKs im Wandschrank is back on the list. It now stands on number 36–9 places higher than three weeks ago when it first appeared on the survey.

Future hits:
Dernière Danse by Indila was number 1 i France already. Some independent seller in Germany offered the track plus album since end of February. The official and proper release followed on April 11th. A week before the demand seems huge. The track enters the list at number 53 after it had a short appearance in early march at number 98.
Aloe Blacc's new single The Man shot to number 1 in the UK last week. In Germany there is no official release date distributed. Anyway the track climbs up the charts right now. This week it lands at number 56.
Already released as a single in 2012 Parov Stelar's All Night this week enters the charts for the very first time. The founder of electro swing makes his German chart debut at number 57.

DSDS effect
Emeli Sandé benefits from the performance by Yasemin. Free re-enters at number 70.

In the German wikipedia their is a long during beef about how important a remixer is and whether producer are worth mentioning on the encyclopedia if they "only" release remixes. This week there is an evidence that a remix can do a lot to a song. The band American Authors is signed to a moajor company since 2012. It released Best Day Of My Life back than–the hiatus of success came early this year. A Europe wide release followed. In Germany the single was available since March. Now the track enters at number 81 and probably will rise higher cause of the new announced remixes by likes such as Such A Gent who brought the indie rock song into a trap/deep house style. The German wikipedia does not know the remixer, neither does the English one.
Another trap artist debuts at the German charts due to an appearance on the latest issue of The Dome compilation. Turn Down for What by DJ Snake and Lil Jon already was released in December 2013. In March 2014 the track was chosen to complete the 69th edition of the successfull compilation serial and finally makes its way into the list as an standalone track also. Number 93 is the rank it gets this week. For Lil Jon it is the first new material inside the German list since 2006.

On the very end of the list the release of the DVD/BluRay version of Frozen brings signature song Let It Go by Demi Lovato back to the list. Number 83 is 8 ranks better than its original performance back in February.

11th of April: Jess Glynne is the star of the moment

This week Rather Be goes Nr.1 in Germany also. According to acharts.us it is the seventh country where Clean Bandit Featuring Jess Glynne can reach the Top. It is the first British number 1 since October past year when James Blunt shot to the Top with Bonfire Heart but left the sunny place after a week already.

Having a look at the velocity of change at the Top we do have the fourth song entering the Top in 2014. Last year this current week there were still the third number 1 song appearing as the most selling song in the face of Passenger’s Let Her Go which actually was only the second British number 1 hit in 2013. This marks what weak year British pop music had.

Rather Be took nine weeks to reach its peak which is a long time for a number 1 song. But in fact we just had a late chart topper t the end of 2013 when Timber by Pitbull Feat. KE$HA topped the list in its 11th chart week. From all this we can resume: the taste of music buyers change a little more often but it takes a longer time for convincing masses.

Jess Glynne ain't only a nr.1 act right now. She also has a second track arriving in the Top 10. My Love goes 20–10 in its third chart week which makes her the most successful newcomer of 2014 so far. Sales of the freshly released CD will count from next week on–so expect some more power and probably a further rise of the song.

The highest new entry comes from Germany and starts at number 6. It is the second pre-release of Jan Delay’s upcoming album Hammer und Michel. St. Pauli is only the third Top 10 hit for the rapper and singer who already has a 20 years long music career. Nr.6 exactly matches the result of his last Top 10 hit Oh Johnny in summer 2009.

On March 28th the full EP of Riptide by Vance Joy appeared in shelves. It contains the original and the very popular deep house remix by Flic Flac which gives the song a boost in sales going 23–11. It is now the most popular song produced by an Australian artist. The last one Changes (featuring Pnau) was a number 1 back in December and still sits pretty at number 29.
A further deep house hit enters the top 20 in the face of Bakermat's One Day (Vandaag). After three weeks inside the charts the production only managed to rise three places. Might be a sign for the fact that a deep house rhythm alone doesn't attract people that much anymore. Still the crowd loving that sound is strong.

ECHO effect number 2: After the performance of Die Fantastischen Vier on the award show on 27th of March the demand in the anniversary release raises a lot. 25 goes 27–15. On the show the four presented a four minutes mash up medley of 25 hits.

With new vocals available Tsunami by DVBBS & Borgeous returns the direction within the singles charts and can rise 53–40. The new version officially is called Tsunami (Jump) and features lyrics by Tinie Tempah. In the UK the new track topped the charts three weeks ago. In Germany the track already collected 20 chart weeks.

How far will it go? The first week the track is available as an official digital single Down By The River by Milky Chance can climb ten places to number 44. It's not much but actually predecessor Stolen Dance took 18 weeks to peak at number 2. So there is some time left for the new track.

A full weeks sales makes Loyal by Chris Brown Lil Wayne Tyga propel up the list 81–54 which is one of the biggest jump this week. Still number 54 is a bad result for leading artist Chris Brown although it is a new peak for accompanying TYGA.

BIRDY announces single number four from her album Fire Within. Words As Weapons is scheduled for a release on April 14th–the video was premiered end of March and makes the song charting as an album cut at number 63. So far only Wings managed to chart from the current album.

14th of March 2014

It is the 8th week Happy spends at the Top of the German list. So Pharrell Williams right now has the longest standing top hit since late summer when AVICII occupied number 1 for 10 weeks with Wake Me Up!. The all time sum of nr.1 weeks now is 14.

The next hit Pharrell Williams had his hands on reaches nr.10 after it is released as a proper CD single. Liar Liar by Cris Cab is actually the fourth consecutive Top10 entry Pharrell is somehow involved in.

Further on the way up Rather Be by Clean Bandit Featuring Jess Glyne arrives at number 4. It is the fifth week the song spends in the list, the second inside the Top 10.

With Adel Tawil leaving the Top 10 there are only one song left. It is the lowest result since beginning of November when Milky Chance had its Stolen Dance in the Top 5.

7th of March 2014: The power of TV

Back at the Top Pharrell Williams is adding a seventh Nr.1 week to the account of his hit Happy after he performed it at Wetten dass...?. Last weeks No.1 Waves by MR PROBZ has to step beside and sits now at number 2.

Looking up the history Pharrell is the first male solo artist since Michel Teló in early 2012 who rests at least seven weeks at number 1 (of course I don’t count here AVICII who always colaborates with uncredited singers.)

Wetten dass...!? more and more looses its audience–in Germany a heated debate is going on about that fact. But the show still boosts music sales. So Adel Tawil’s Lieder goes 16–10 after it was performed live at the show. The track already spent 17 weeks inside the list–most of them inside the Top 10. Now it is back for a further week.

Highest new entry comes from an Norwegian act. Nico & Vinz had some first success in Scandinavia under the name Envy. Her single Am I Wrong is the first one released outside the northern countries and immediately lands at number 3 in Germany. It is the highest Norwegian production since five years when a-ha hauled up their Foot Of The Mountain to number 3 also.

New inside the Top 10
As expected Rather Be by Clean Bandit goes 12–6 and breaks the Top 10 after the full CD version is released. Also AVICII gets his Addicted To You inside the Top 10. The track lands at number 8 ten days ahead of the relaese of new remixes. It is the third Top 10 hit from hi album True.

Stopping short of the big 10 Liar Liar by Cris Cab improves being a hit. It goes 28–13 in its fifth chart week and features master of the moment Pharrell Williams as producer. So after three number 1 hits PW is on the way for the next step. In next weeks time also physical sales count into the list.

The fast rise of LORDE comes to a halt slowly. Team only rises one further place reaching exactly number 20. It's her second Top 20 hit. Predecessor Royals slides to number 35 this week.

Carnival hits
This issue covers sales from 21st of February to 27th. It is the week just before the crazy days of Shrove Monday and Tuesday. As every year this time generates its own hits–some of them returning for several years. The leap made by Cologne BRINGS is most significant for increasing interest in carnival hits this week. Kölsche Jung lands at number 41 which is a new peak for the song and the highest rank the band can achieve since four years.

Jürgen Drews also offers a new single. Und wir waren wie Vampire lands at number 48. It is his 27th chart hit as a solo performer. If you count his chart career as a member of Les Humphries Singers too he is an artist having chart success since the weekly charts were enabled. From still active artists only Peter Maffay's career spans a longer time started in April 1970.

Back on the list are: Cat Ballou with Es jitt kei Wood (#62), voXXclub with Rock mi (#100–63), Peter Wackel with the carnival edition of his song Scheiss drauf! (#67), Kasalla with Pirate (#77), HÖHNER with Das geht nie vorbei (new peak at #85).

An elder track becomes a new hit by its use for a viral campaign–that's the story written often enough but still has the power to surprise people. Latest chapter is the story around Supergeil by Der Tourist Feat. Friedrich Liechtenstein. Latter one is a semi known actor in Berlin who had started producing electronic music 10 years ago. By doing this he got to know some other producers and was featured on some tracks with his voice or just for acting in video clips. So he did last year for Der Tourist. The track incidently reached the marketing department of supermarket seller EDEKA. Two weeks ago a new video version of the track was released becoming immediately popular and now starting to sell even the official release of the track is scheduled for 8th of March yet. Starting its chart life at number 59 also means: this thing might become big.

28th February 2014: MR PROBZ is No.1 – Bushido tries to

As expected MR PROBZ goes No.1 with having his hit Waves released also physically on CD. It is the first European production occupying the Top in 2014. The last one doing so was Changes by French Faul & Wad Ad Vs. PNAU. Obviously there is a European sound called Deep House at this moment which represents the continental European mood perfectly.

With MR PROBZ being No.1 there is a Dutch act at the German top after 9 years. It was the casted children act Ch!pz that had the honour last. The fortune lasted two weeks back than. Let’s wait what power the new definition of Deep House can emerge.

No.1 pop sensation Clean Bandit from Britain also arrives in Germany. After Rather Be was used several times around the coverage to the Olympic Games in Sochi it takes a 22–12 leap and probably will arrive the Top 10 in next weeks time when the physical single is released fully also. The same record setting status as they got in their home country is in continental Europe far away.

Last week’s highest new entry the cover Shot Me Down by David Guetta feat Skylar Grey reaches #13 after a full sales week. It now ranks higher than the original from 1966 by Cher and it is the best performing track for David Guetta since September 2012.

German gangsta rap invasion
The highest new entry comes from a German gangster rapper. It’s not at all the one who hits the top spot in the album list. It is someone who I would call the next generation. He already grabed the No.1 of the album list together with Farid Bang a year ago. Now Kollegah announces his new album King with the single track Alpha. It lands at number 15 which remarks a new peak for him in the single’s survey and which is in fact his first solo entry in the charts.

Talking ’bout next generation: Kollegah also got a feature on master Bushido’s new album Sonny Black (that’s the one at No.1 for the long players). The highest standalone track from that album is Gangsta Rap Kings on which Kollegah is featured. The track swaps in at number 45. And I really got the feeling that a lot of fans loaded the song cause of Kollegah’s appearance. Master Bushido had his last Top10 entry in the single’s list three and a half year ago.

Anyway–Bushido’s new album brings some more tracks to chart honour. Six tracks are cherry picked–making the rapper the artist with most different tracks on charts in 2014 so far. Even summarized within the current decade he is the German act having most tracks entered the survey. The result of 20 tracks is more than Rihanna (19) has under her belt but one short of Flo Rida. On the all time list Bushido this week matches the result of The Beatles that had 41 different chart entries.

A third Gangsta rapper is very present on the list this week. Farid Bang announced a new album for April too. In advance he releases one track to another. This week the almost love rap Dein Weg enters the list at #86.

Up on the list ... it goes for Trumpets–the new offering by Jason Derulo. The track rises 71–49 in its third week.

Newcomer alert at number 85. Former Star Search finalist and child star Senta-Sofia now is of full age. So she took a new name and changed her musical style. As Oonagh she released her first album. As support act to Santiano’s tour she reaches a wider audience which gives her a first entry with her single Gäa.

So–if one had counted the many new entries this week: 14 plus 5 tracks re-entering the list. That is the biggest turnover of the yet young year 2014. The calm weeks definitely are over.
