What a week: 14 new entries – that’s what we've had only once this current year. Now that feat comes with a lot of new releases especially from the dance floor section. Let’s call it the industries effort for starting the summer business. Let's have a look what's going on.
The number one is still occupied by Die Toten Hosen. It is the second week vor Tage wie diese (Days Like These). The biggest impact comes from US rapper Flo Rida who sees his Whistle flying to number 2 a week before the full CD is released. (Further down the list he enters the charts for second time this week as featured artist.)
The first real story (real in the meaning of explicit Germany connected) can be found at number 9. The past two issues of the charts there was a strong influence of soccer detectable. And also this week presents its soccer hit. The sales span covered by the current list starts 18th of May and ends on 24th. On 19th there was the final of the UEFA cup confronting FC Bayern München with FC Chelsea. The match was highly anticipated in German media. The music used during breaks was I Follow Rivers recorded by Swedish Lykke Li. The singer is kind of an independent star in Germany for about three years. The end of 2011 she had commercial success in Belgium, the Netherlands and France storming the Top of the charts with I Follow Rivers. Now the time has come for a bigger attention in Germany too. The single can enter the German list inside the Top 10. Probably she will pass the honour of being the most successful Swedish act next week to fresh Eurovision winner Loreen.
The hymn of Bayern München also makes a big leap inside the list and lands at number 46 although the team succumb on the penalty.
New sound coming from KONTOR starts this week. The label at this moment is the most successful dance label in Germany accounting for the big success of that style. It freshly released the compilation House Of House Vol. 15 including a whole bunch of new digital releases. Most commercially successful is German project r.i.o.. It offers the hit Party Shaker which lands inside the Top 10 by collecting everything one know from past summer hits. The rap part now comes from NICCO who so far only collaborated with Austrian Darius & Finlay. Party Shaker is the second Top 10 hit for r.i.o. after last years Turn This Club Around.
2010 was the year of Die Atzen. Three simultanous hits selling weeks and weeks. In 2011 it was a strange collaboration with NENA that kept the memories to Frauenarzt & Manny Marc alive, This year the Atzen duo releases the third album with its own style–it can make on the album list a number 16. The single taken from that collection calls Party (Ich will abgehn). I guess there is no change to the sound two years ago. Probably that’s the reason why it only can enter at number 45.
Also Swiss REMADY offers a new production. Single Ladies features known Zurich singer Manu-L and Swedish rapper J-Son. The new track starts as single download at number 50 which marks a new peak of REMADY.
Last one of the KONTOR sound: RJ Flo Rida & Qwote also can enter the charts as the only non European act of the label this week.
If you're interested in other sounds than European dancefloor you should test single number two off the album auch by die ärzte (The Doctors). It calls m+f. The letters stand for male and female and the song describes the most common rituals of how the sexes come together … a funny story at all. The single starts its chart life right after the first one left the list.
Significant rises
American Linkin Park finally has a full CD version of Burn It Down in the shelves. The track peaks in its fifth chart week at number 16 eclipsing the download only peak of four weeks ago.
Pitbull launches with Dance Again a third simultanous hit inside the Top 20. Back In Time still rises up to number 5 this week meanwhile There She Goes by Taio Cruz slightly slides to number 8. The new collaboration with JLO can enter the list at number 19. Pitbull now is the artist having most tracks inside the Top 100 in 2012–the books count 10. Last year he had nine tracks as lead or featured artist plus two tracks where he wasn’t listed but performed.
Supported by the use as background sound for a commercial Santigold can celebrate her first chart hit in Germany. Disparate Youth starts at number 26.
After full CD release in Germany Forever by Danish MEDINA takes a 89–38 leap. So far it is the third best rank MEDINA could reach in her two years long career.
One might think that tunes once very successful die in peace and never come back. This isn’t true at all as very well known Infinity shows these days. A big hit in 1990 by Guru Josh it came back in a reworked version four years ago. That version spend another 64 weeks inside the charts peaking at number 4. Now the tune was chosen as the background for MAGNUM icecream (at least in German speaking countries) including the release of new remixes by acts like DJ Antoine vs. Mad Mark, Robby Rivera, Loverush and PunX. The new mixes immediatly start inside the chart at number 48.
New German sounds
Irish Rea Garvey can be count as a German act due to the fact he lives in Germany and is very active on German TV. In autumn last year he was part of the jury for The Voice of Germany. Now he offers a new solo single with Heart Of An Enemy. It can’t continue the success of Can’t Stand The Silence and Colour Me In.
Die Hölle morgen früh (The hell tomorrow morning) by Helene Fischer finally is available on CD. As most of the fans of her are rather conservative the release causes a re-entry of the song with a new peak. Although rank 72 looks shabby at the first sight it is for the first time that Helene Fischer can launch two single hits from an album inside the sales charts. So probably this is the point where the singer turns into a maker of single hits.
More Schlager can be found new at number 96. It is Franziska who returns after three and a half years back into the sales charts. Meanwhile she released an album which also reached the charts. Heute weiß ich erst, dass ich dich liebe (Not Until Today I Know That I Love You) is her third singles chart hit and also the worst performing so far.
A German newcomer is Mark Forster. As far as the story is told he makes music as background musician for several years. Now he offers his first solo material and it needs only a little to make him the new Tim Bendzko. Auf dem Weg (On The Way) is a story about making things in life one doesn’t really want. But it is not only about lost chances, it is more about being conscious of that situation and enjoying it.
And finally back to party. Party is the topic for the VIVA’s serial Party, Bruder!. The title track comes from US based Breathe Carolina. Blackout could be a European production at all. By this it is quite strange that the track needed a full year to arrive on these shores. Blame on their label SONY that hadn’t enough balls releasing the single earlier.

09-12: Baku Contest at Carnival Season
Seems that Brazilian Michel Teló starts writing chart history. A fifth week at the Top makes Nooosssaa! Ai Se Eu Te Pego! the third most successful Number 1 hit coming from an act of South America. Only 2010 football anthem Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) and 2001 Whenever, Wherever–both recorded by Columbian Shakira–sold a longer span most copies in Germany. Equalling the 5 weeks run at the Top of predecessor Somebody That I Used To Know the survey repeats a situation last watched in summer 2010 when We No Speak Americano by Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup was the most sold track for seven weeks after dethroning six weeks queen Shakira and her (again) Waka Waka.
Biggest impact of the week was the final of die national selection casting for the Eurovision Contest. The two finalists are swashing up the list. It is Our Star For Baku winner Roman Lob who naturally performs better. He enters at Number 3 with his winning song Standing Still. It is a powerfull rock ballad–probably well done for the western Europe market. Whether the eastern part will catch fire …?
Also the two other songs presented at the final show are in the list. Alone lands at Number 42 and Conflicted at 51. Runner’s up at the show Ornella de Santis brings her three songs into the survey too. Best–of course–her pre-chosen track Quietly at 24. Alone stops at 69, Standing Still at 77.

The one and only truly new release in German comes from a rapper: KAY ONE–known as one of the pupils of Bushido–announces a second album. On the first lifted single a big name as duetting partner appears: Mario Winans. Both together confess I Need a Girl–it is already part 3 of the story. Certainly the need is very deep. Why it is so hard to find the right girl is answered in the song itself. KAY ONE ultimately says: “Most of the girls just wanna have my money. I need a girl without LV bag or Cavalli top.” – All that is offered within a luxury setting of champaign and Versace interior. Hmmm – KAY ONE needs luxury but his girl should abstain from all that blingbling? Wish him good luck for his search.
KAY ONE’s Austrian colleague RAF 3.0 tries a very similar way. His new album is out now–leading track Wie kannst du nur (How could you) reaches the single’s list by itself. It is a classic frustration speech of a macho who ditched his girlfriend for whatever reason. Of course there is no doubt left that the girl was the bad one. With number 91 Wie kannst du nur performes five places better than it’s first track Fallen four weeks ago.
This recent issue of the charts reflects sales between February 17th and 23rd–so it includes the peak time of carnival season. Due to that fact the German hit of the season Schatz, schenk mir ein Foto by Mickie Krause reaches a new peak with number 27. It is again 12 places higher than the week before . By the way the track reaches it in its 37th chart week which is the fourth longest run in chart history (counted by chart weeks).
A new hit arrives finally at number 56. Kasalla is a Cologne band founded by Florian Peil. Their Pirate (Pirates in Cologne dialect) is the first track from the debut album Et jitt Kasalla! (literally: It got trouble / more common: You’ll Be In Trouble)–as I found out the track wasn’t planned asa full single release. Probably that will change next season. Founder Florian Peil and band member Sevastian Wagner had two chart hits before with their band Peilomat. Their biggest success so far was Allemann (All Together) that climbed to number 26 in early summer 2008.
Cologne band BRINGS launches its 12th chart hit with latest single Dat is geil (It’s wicked). It is the title track of their last album released in 2011. 2010 hit halleluja also re-appears for a week at number 87.
Of course a carnival classics is back in the list too. Viva Colonia entered the list for the first time nine years ago. It reached its peak at number 20 in 2007. Now it is listed at number 96 again.
Finally I am kind of proud to tell you that the Grammys also have a (kind of tiny) influence on German music market too. Decorated with three awards L.A. based DJ and producer Skrillex enters number 100 with his tune Weekends!!!. Yeah, there is a small crowd enjoying dubstep sound in Germany. But I guess it will take a long long march till he is as popular as in the States. In Austria Skrillex yet has a first hit under his belt with Bangarang reaching number 25.

Upspeeding Charts With A Small Swiss Invasion
The Christmas rush started. The industry is releasing new material and the audience is buying. The German single’s charts dated November 25th counts 15 new entries. It is the biggest turnover of the list with completely new material. Of course we saw the two first weeks in March 21 resp. 20 tracks entering the charts – back than 10 resp. 6 of that tracks were re-entries. This recent week we do have 15 completely new tracks entering the list. The last time that happened was in February 2010 – almost 2 years ago. So the charts are speeding up right now. Of course there is a lot to tell you about – let’s start right at the top.
With a huge jump Flo Rida enters the number one with his new single Good Feeling. It is the 6th number 1 hit coming fromm an U.S. act in 2011. The states do rule the German (and European) music market. Even after an unusual four month break during late summer nothing really changed. Flo Rida is displacing Rihanna and it’s quite significant that Good Feeling also features an European producer. It is actually Swedish AVICII (Tim Bergling) who milked the formula used for his own Levels once again. It gives both rapper and producer the first ever Number 1 in Germany. Flo Rida took three and a half years reaching the top. It’s a way some others had gone before, however it is far and away from the very common career of storming the top within the first year with one of the first three singles of an act. It took Flo Rida a full 13 singles to get that much interest. He first appeared within the German charts with Low (featuring T-Pain) in 2007. Two years later he had his first big hit with Right Round (featuring Ke$ha). The big boost came late 2010 when his single Club Can’t Handle Me (produced by David Guetta) went number 4. Since then three singles were released crediting him as a performing artist. All three went Top 10. Now Good Feeling as the leading single to his upcoming album Only One Rida (Part 2) is breaking all walls. By climbing to number 1 Flo Rida is definitely one of the big male U.S. stars of now. Only Taio Cruz is someone who has similar popularity right now.

As always the track is controversial, ironical and disambiguitive. The title Mein Land (My Country) refers to a strong self-assertion on one hand and to really right wing nationalism on the other hand. As always the band identifies itself as unpolitical – the video by Jonas Åkerlund is a comic strip on a 60s beach party. Trying to encode the signs and quotes leads nowhere. It is an empty style using a lot of clichees – it’s your own turn to love or hate it.

Maybe we will see the new song from Pietro Lombardi a few weeks longer. Goin’ To L.A. is only the third single and it is completely new material – however the track misses the top 20. Is the career of the 2011 superstar over after only six months? Well – all the teenies and casting addictives are waiting for the winner of the Supertalent show. No need for stars of the springtime at all.
Another participant of the DSDS casting in springtime finally starts a career by releasing singles. Ardian Bujupi – the number 3 although he was far and away the best performer of the crowd – appears with This Is My Time. It is teen pop as well however it surprises by using strongly dancehall beats and effects. In terms of music this single is the most interesting a contestant of the last DSDS season had released. In terms of sales he unfortunately fails by only reaching position 40. Hopefully he himself does have enough strength for releasing further material. He really might become a popstar.
There is a next casting format starting on German TV. The Voice of Germany differs the most by the choice of the jury. Besides Nena, Xavier Naidoo and Rea Garvey the two front men of German country band BossHoss try to find the most amazing voice. Possibly they are the most unknown inside the show – they never had a commercial hit single although their five albums all reached the upper ranks at the album charts – only the first one missed narrowly the Top 10.
A week before the show starts on TV the band releases a new single. Don’t Gimme That immediately enters position 42. It is so far the second highest rank the band ever reached missing the result of the very first single Hey Ya! by only one place.
Let’s switch from an upcoming TV event to a past one. On November 10th the ceremony of the BAMBI awards took place. Once upon a time it was the most important German award in media and music business. Meanwhile there are doubts ’bout the importance of this „event“. The well planned scandal of this year’s BAMBI was the decoration of rapper Bushido with the award for integration.
The relevance of the award to music business shows up with sales right after the show. As an effect of her performance at the show (plus decoration with the price as Best international Artist) Lady Gagas new single Marry The Night enters at a low position 44. – Gagamania seems kind of cooled down. The lady is on tour in Europe to promote her new single and fails even in Britain (#18 after a performance at an X Factor result show !!) Well, it is the fifth single from her Born This Way album. Almost everybody owns a copy, isn’t it? – The full CD single release of Marry The Night is scheduled for 2nd December. The prospects of becoming a huge hit are very small.
Somewhat like an comeback can be witnessed at position 45. Singer Christian Franke had a hit in 1982 with Ich wünsch dir die Hölle auf Erden (I Wish You To Hell). Two follow up medium hit singles were released in 1982 and than a long silence broke down around him. In 2009 a short appearance back in the list with new material and now – again 2 years later – it seems the singer is back for real. Der Apfelbaum (The Apple Tree) is a kitschy ballad asking why people do all the bad things on earth: nuclear weapons, wars, environmental pollution, injustice ... The video shows star actor Heiner Lauterbach trying to explain that cruel world to his child. A serious topic, unfortunately produced to death by David Brandes and drowned in panpipe sound by Edward Simoni. I guess the result doesn’t change the world … it’s a pity.
A funny story full with trivias can be found around Ilhama. The singer from Azerbaijan won the national casting for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 – however Ell/Nikki participated in Düsseldorf and won. Ilhama finally also enters Europe with her version on Bei mir bist du scheen a classic tune grown famous by The Andrews Sisters. The track alone wouldn’t find any new fan – combined with a beat and fitted to recent electro-swing hype the Azerbaijan singer can enter the German list at position 48. Producer of the hit is German DJ OGB. I guess the track might have a chance of growing.
Lowest German new entry can be found at position 82. Tom Lüneburger is a young German singer songwriter who right now announces his second album. As lead single he offers we are one a duet with the voice of Silbermond Mrs. Stefanie Kloß. It’s a combination copying the formula young singer plus well known voice/face like heard before with Revolverheld feat. Marta Jandová or Bosse & Anna Loos. Well, it works again.
Let's have a look to Germany's neighbour Switzerland. Right now it sends some popular releases into the hit list – leading the bunch is still DJ Antoine with two hits Welcome To St. Tropez and Ma chérie. Mike Candys & Evelyn ft. Patrick Miller are still strong in sales with their One Night in Ibiza. This week two further Swiss productions join the club.
DJ Remady is hard on the heels of his famous colleagues and launches a second hit in Germany. Give Me A Sign is a late follow up to I’m No Superstar showing up in the lists last year. The new offer enters at position 58 – it is the highest rank so far for the DJ.
And finally an old mate is back: In 2011 DJ BOBO gave his 1001st concert. It was in Las Vegas and Mr. Bobo was quite impressed by the city – his next album is to be called Dancing In Las vegas. The first single taken from that release is Everybody’s Gonna Dance.If you love to listen to DJ Bobo you will for sure love the track too. So far the single performs bad. Position 70 is one of the worst placing ever. Only Colors Of Life stalled 5 places lower in 2001.

The track alone wouldn’t find any new fan – combined with a beat and fitted to recent electro-swing hype the Azerbaijan singer can enter the German list at position 48. Producer of the hit is German DJ OGB. I guess the track might have a chance of growing.
Lowest German new entry can be found at position 82. Tom Lüneburger is a young German singer songwriter who right now announces his second album. As lead single he offers we are one a duet with the voice of Silbermond Mrs. Stefanie Kloß. It’s a combination copying the formula young singer plus well known voice/face like heard before with Revolverheld feat. Marta Jandová or Bosse & Anna Loos. Well, it works again.
Let's have a look to Germany's neighbour Switzerland. Right now it sends some popular releases into the hit list – leading the bunch is still DJ Antoine with two hits Welcome To St. Tropez and Ma chérie. Mike Candys & Evelyn ft. Patrick Miller are still strong in sales with their One Night in Ibiza. This week two further Swiss productions join the club.
DJ Remady is hard on the heels of his famous colleagues and launches a second hit in Germany. Give Me A Sign is a late follow up to I’m No Superstar showing up in the lists last year. The new offer enters at position 58 – it is the highest rank so far for the DJ.
And finally an old mate is back: In 2011 DJ BOBO gave his 1001st concert. It was in Las Vegas and Mr. Bobo was quite impressed by the city – his next album is to be called Dancing In Las vegas. The first single taken from that release is Everybody’s Gonna Dance.If you love to listen to DJ Bobo you will for sure love the track too. So far the single performs bad. Position 70 is one of the worst placing ever. Only Colors Of Life stalled 5 places lower in 2001.

What a week! Three new entries inside the Top 5 – two of them right at the top. Both launched by the big TV event Deutschland sucht den Superstar (Germany is searching for the super star) – abr. DSDS. Winner of the show – 18 years old Pietro Lombardi is shooting to number 1 right after the final’s end. Call My Name is the first song doing so since one complete year when winner of last year’s season Mehrzad Marashi propelled to the top right after the final. Two years ago a single shooting direct to nr. 1 was kind of a usual feat. In 2009 eight of 14 number one entered the charts direct at the top. Last year there were only two of 11 number one hits doing so. Does the digital age change the chart behaviour slightly?

Weak German tracks
An almost static Top 5 except No.5 which is occupied now by the steadily rising Hello by Martin Solveig + Dragonette. The track reaches its peak so far in the 20th chart week. Peaking inside the really top of the charts after 20 weeks or more is a feat not gained very often. The last two years saw ittwice happens. In last November Leona Lewis shot with her Run straight to No.2 after a performance of the track by a contestant in a casting show. It was the 35th chart week. Last track peaking in its origin chart run inside the top 5 that late was Gossip’s Heavy Cross which gained No.2 a year before in November 2009.
8 weeks inside the list – finally shooting to Top 10 status – that’s Flo Rida who can jump up 16 places right to No. 8 after his performance at Stefan Raab’s Wok WM aired on 12th March. It is the third time the US American rapper can invade the German Top 10. In his home country he had hit the top spot twice, in the UK three times and in Ireland already four times. Producing DJ Frank E hits the top 10 for a second time. Predecessor Airplanes performed by B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams rose to No.8 also five months ago. His most recent production Tonight (I’m Loving You) on which he is credited properly alongside Enrique Iglesias holds firm at No.12 waiting for its rise to the Top 10. CLUESO has made his way becoming a solid artist selling albums in respectable amounts, having a few medium hits played often in radio programmes and staying acceptable and upright for his fans. His sixth album An und für sich (Actually / In and of itself) is scheduled for 25th March. Following the classic release plan the first single is available two weeks ahead. Zu schnell vorbei (Over to fast) is a soft ballad talking bout precious moments and the search for the ability enjoying them. The single is the successor of Gewinner (Winner) which spent a whole 32 weeks in the charts. Listening to the track I guess it could become a similar slow burner. No.38 in the first week could lead much higher.
Do you know SpongeBob? Probably you’re not the main target group of that comic character but you might recognized the popularity the character has between children. Nine TV seasons plus ten movies were produced since 1999. It is aired almost all over the world, computer games exist and a whole merchandise industry is working around the character. Well – time to have a CD with hits as well. In 2009 there was a CD released including the original score of the serial. I can’t remember this had a huge impact. Now sonymusic decided to release a CD full with cover version of well known pop hits for the German speaking area especially. The album named BOB Musik – Das Gelbe Album (The Yellow Album) enters the album list straight at position 17. That’s not all. Lecker Lecker (Yummy Yummy) – a cover of Shakira’s hit Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) – charted as an digital album cut in the singles’ list also. No. 43 on downloads only. Is that caused by kids only?
Bad timing for DJ Ötzi. His company Polydor decided releasing the new single Lieb ich dich right after the big run of Après Ski and Discofox hits. I really would love to know why. It is the second single off his album Du und ich. It is completely the style of all its predecessors. It should have a huge support for becoming a hit. Why do they release it after the carneval season? What was the secret plan behind that schedule?
As always Lieb ich dich (Love you) is a song about the never ending love. It’s a frank confession as one would say in emotional situations. Maybe at Oktoberfest after 3 beers. Or while dancing in stupid costumes around a truck rolling slowly through the streets plus hammering discofox beat against the crowd. Well – a few people like the song as well. Maybe they are just in love. Lieb ich dich enters the chart at a very low No.79. – And please, don’t call me a cynic.

11-06: short flash – European connections
A second week at the top of the German singles list for Adele. Rolling In The Deep still is the most sold track in Germany like in several other mid-european countries. Lucky Adele – her album 21 slides down to no.2 in the album list but holds a proper top place within the new monthly independent charts.
It seems to be given, that Adele will leave the top spot as Bruno Mars is rising continously sitting at no.2 on download only sales. The physical release is in shops right now so we will see grenade at the top of the German singles list for sure.

Turn Around (54321) is the second single taken from his album Only One Flo (Part 1). Both single and album completely failed in the U.S. and in the UK. No.15 in the first week of its release is not that bad at all. Seems that Flo Rida got a broad fan base in Germany.
Turn Around (54321) is build around a sample by Swiss electronic duo Yello. The original Oh Yeah charted in Germany end of 1987 reaching no.47. Funny trivia – the track never charted in their home country Switzerland nor in Austria but it is the one and only track ever listed in the Hot 100 Billboard charts reaching no.51. The track was used in several movies and games especially as theme for Duffman of The Simpsons. No wonder Flo Rida chose this track for his new offering.
Also the second highest new entry has a European connection. The come back single of Swedish Roxette She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio) is the first offering since One Wish was crowding the list in late 2006. As one of the super acts of the early 90s Roxette boast their 33rd track into the charts now. In Großbritannien hatte sie sofort nach Ende der Show mit Hallelujah ihren Einstand an der Spitze der Charts. Danach allerdings lassen sich die Briten jetzt immer etwas Zeit und das Erstlingswerk der Stars kommt dann ein Jahr später. Sehr überlegt.
Alexandra Burke also startet mit Bad Boys ins Business. Auch dieser Titel schaffte es in Großbritannien sofort an die Spitze. Hier geht es etwas verhaltener an: Platz 14 in der ersten Woche nach Veröffentlichung auf CD. Und das obwohl an ihrer Seite Herr Flo Rida für die entsprechenden Rhymes sorgen darf. Der X-Factor strahlt in diesem Falle nicht großartig genug über den Kanal. Ohnehin ist es grad spannend zu beobachten, wie abgekoppelt die einzelnen Musikmärkte voneinander funktionieren. Da soll mir noch jemand was von globalisierter Welt und „alles ist überall gleich“ erzählen.
Und dann kommt da etwas aus Belgien, dass mindestens in den nächsten Wochen jede gute Party ob Mainstream oder Indie aufmischen sollte: stromae mit dem Track alors on danse. Wunderschön gelangweilt dekadent – geniale Fortsetzung zu La Petit Bourgeouisie, nur wesentlich cooler. Und deshalb wohl auch auf Anhieb höher platziert. Nämlich auf Platz 16 durch reine Downloadverkäufe. Nächste Woche zählen dann auch die Silberlinge dazu … ich würd mal sagen: sicherer Top10-Bereich, wahrscheinlich sogar unter den ersten 3. TV Alarm oder Ohne Fernsehen keine Hits
Die Woche 14. bis 20. Oktober brachte uns drei neue, deutschsprachige CDs die richtig gut einschlugen und sich ordentlich verkauften. Sido, Xavier Naidoo und Silbermond waren die Gewinner der Woche. Und dann gab es vor allem ein bestimmendes Thema: Popstars! Zur dritten Workshopwoche in Las Vegas war eine der Gast-Stars Ashley Tisdale. Und sehr genau abgestimmt, steht ihre aktuelle CD-Single Crank It Up genau einen Tag nach Ausstrahlung der Show in den Geschäften. Klar, verkauft sich das ordentlich. Platz 19 auf Anhieb und damit der vierte Top 20-Hit für den amerikanischen Upcoming-Superstar. Erstaunlich vor allem auch zu sehen, dass sie in ihrer Heimat USA gar nicht so populär ist wie im deutschsprachigen Europa. Bei Miley Cyrus sieht die Sache genau umgekehrt aus.
Crank It Up ist die zweite Single aus dem Album Guilty Pleasure. Die Lead-Single It’s Alright, It’s Ok platzierte sich im Juni bereits auf Rang 12. Auch das mit Unterstützung medialer Präsenz zur Prime Time. – Der Titel selber ist ein unglaublich elektroider Track, der Ashley Tisdale in eine Reihe mit Britney Spears stellt. Beim ersten Hören des Tracks ohne jegliche Information dazu hatte ich tatsächlich das Gefühl: hey, ein neuer Britney-Track. Das Ganze ist wunderbar kombiniert mit Timbaland-mäßigem Rap and Background-Chören. Geile Mischung! Natürlich gibt es genügend Kritiker, die diese „Anleihen“ unverschämt nennen. Wie ihr das bewertet, könnt ihr ja selber entscheiden. Auf jeden Fall ist es ein ziemlich heißes Stück Pop und etabliert Ashley Tisdale mehr und mehr hierzulande als Garantin für Hit-Singles.
Gewinner Nr.2 dank „Popstars“ sind Coldplay. Bereits direkt nach der Show konnte sich The Scientist über iTunes und Kollegen so gut verkaufen, dass der Titel in der letzten Woche auf Platz 77 wiedereinstieg. In dieser Woche nun zählen alle Käufe ab Freitag, dem 14. Oktober. Cherine Nouri ist ihr Name und der Titel heißt Faithful. Das Ganze klingt sehr nach Fernsehmusik, ist ganz gut produziert (als Produzenten tritt das VALICON-Team auf, welches auch hinter Silbermond und Eisblume steht), allerdings auch genauso schnell wieder draußen aus dem Ohr. Mir fehlt ein wenig das Unverkennbare, Eigene. Aber das kann ja bei der nächsten Single noch kommen. Für Dezember ist ein Album von Cherine Nouri angekündigt. Derweil startet Faithful auf Platz 22 der deutschen Single-Charts.
Gleich nochmal RTL mit Hitmacher-Auswirkungen: die neueste Folge der Pop-Doku-Reihe „100 Prozent“ widmete sich der Band Tokio Hotel. Und offensichtlich ist es ziemlich clever diese 45-Minuten-Show zur besten Sendezeit auszustrahlen, denn sowohl Automatisch klettert nochmal ordentlich von der 34 auf die 21, als auch das Album Humanoid steigt wieder hoch auf Platz 11 in den Albumcharts. Und – ganz außerordentlich – die Single, mit der alles begann, durch den Monsun kehrt fast vier Jahre nach ihrem ersten Chartaufenthalt zurück. Platz 84 gibt es durch zahlreiche Downloads und eine 22. Woche in der Liste für den erfolgreichsten Nr.1-Hit von Tokio Hotel. Nur zur Erinnerung: Im September 2005 stand der Titel fünf Wochen auf der Position 1.
Auch aus einem Film, allerdings nicht Fernsehen, sondern richtig Kino und vielleicht deshalb auch etwas weniger erfolgreich, stammt Jump mit Flo Rida feat. Nelly Furtado . Der Film, um den es hier geht ist G-Force, der am 16. Oktober Filmstart hatte. Der Titel ist im Original schon ein ganz eingängiges HipHop-Pop-Stückchen, so wie wir es von Flo Rida eigentlich gewohnt sind. Noch viel wahrnwitziger sind allerdings die kursierenden Remixe und Mashups. Lohnt sich in jedem Fall, mal im Netz danach zu suchen. Flo rida landet mit Jump seinen sechsten Hit in den deutschen Charts, Platz 27 ist dabei nicht so schlecht, reicht aber bei weitem nicht an seine großen Erfolge Low (Platz 13) und Right Round (Platz 4) heran. Für Nelly Furtado ist es bereits die 21. Single in den Charts, an der sie in irgendeiner Weise beteiligt war. In diesem Jahr hat sie bereits die beiden Superhits Broken Wings (Platz 1 mit James Morrison) und Manos Al Aire (Platz 2; in dieser Woche von der 22 auf 34 fallend) auf ihrem Konto.
Am 14. Oktober erschien die neue Single der norwegischen Band a-ha, am 15. Oktober gaben sie bekannt, dass sie sich ab kommendem Jahr auflösen werden. Das bedeutet, Shadowside wird eine der letzten Singles sein, die wir von dieser Band zu hören bekommen. Eine schöne Ballade mit sehr melancholischem Ton. Zwar fehlt mir auch hier die Relevanz und der Bezug zur Jetztzeit, aber wunderschön ist es trotzdem. Nach ihrem sensationellen Nr.3-Erfolg von Foot Of The Mountain landet Shadowside auf Platz 36, eine durchaus übliche Position für eine Albumzweitsingle von a-ha.
Obwohl sie schon seit mehr als 10 Jahren bestehen und fleißig Material veröffentlichen, gehören die Foo Fighters um David Grohl immer noch zu den Newcomern im kommerziellen Chartbusiness. Die aktuelle Single Wheels ist nämlich erst der vierte Titel, der sich in den deutschen Charts platzieren kann. Als reine e-Single erschien der Titel bereits am 25. September, seit 12. Oktober ist das Video on air und so steigen die Downloadzahlen beständig. Nun schafft es Wheels auch neu hinein in die Charts auf Platz 56. Das ist die beste Platzierung für einen Foo Fighters-Titel ever. Zuletzt waren sie Anfang 2008 mit dem Titel Long Road To Ruin notiert, der es bis zu Platz 79 brachte. Und noch ein wichtiger Hinweis: Das Greatest Hits-Album erscheint gerade jetzt, da könnte also Wheels in der Liste in zwei Wochen nochmal ordentlich nach oben gehen.
Weiter unten in den Charts war das Thema TV-Spektakel nochmals spürbar. Danach ging es noch weitere vier mal in die Charts, natürlich jeweils wesentlich kürzer, und nun sammelt Almost Lover eine 36. Chartwoche. Allerdings wird der Titel wohl nächste Woche bereits keine Rolle mehr spielen.
Wirklich langanhaltenden Erfolg wird es wohl auch für MARS nicht wirklich geben. Der Sänger ist ein Hybrid aus der Kunstfigur Martin Nicodemus Sommer und dem lebenden Menschen Marcel Saibert. Mit der Serie „Unter uns“ ist MARS bekannt geworden. Vor zwei Jahren feierte seine erste Single Reason ordentliche Erfolge und konnte sich im Verkauf bis Platz 15 durchsetzen. Nun steht ein neues Album in den Startlöchern, Play heißt es und soll am 6. November erscheinen. Bereits im Vorfeld wurde die Single Let There Be Love auf den Markt geworfen, eine Schmuse-Kuschel-Ballade, leider nicht ganz so originell und deshalb wohl auch nur vom harten Fankern der Serie gekauft. Es reicht nach etwas mehr als zwei Jahren also lediglich für einen Platz 99 und wie schon gesagt: ich denke, das wird es für die Single dann auch erstmal gewesen sein.
Wieder in den Verkaufscharts, allerdings sehr wahrscheinlich auf Grund des Erfolgs des soeben veröffentlichten Albums ist Michael Bublé. Crazy Love schafft auf Anhieb den Sprung in die Albumcharts auf Rang 5 und zieht in seinem Windschatten die aktuelle Single Haven’t Met You Yet von der 55 auf die 53. Außerdem kann sich (entweder durch die Empfehlungsverlinkung auf amazon etc. oder auch, weil der Song offensichtlich signifikant für Michael Bublé steht) Home aus dem Jahr 2005 noch einmal zurück in die Liste verkaufen. Original ist Home auf dem Album It’s time erstmals veröffentlicht worden, wurde dann als zweite Single ausgekoppelt und erreichte Platz 55 – bis heute die am schlechtesten platzierte Single des Künstlers. Im Jahr 2007 erschien von Westlife eine Cover-Version, die sich bis Platz 70 hangeln konnte (übrigens der letzte Titel von Westlife, der es in die deutschen charts schaffte). Nun, vier Jahre nach der allerersten Version, steht Home noch einmal auf der 86. Es ist insgesamt die 10. Woche für den Titel, das ist für Michael Buble dann schon eine sehr ordentliche Leistung.
Naja, und dann schaffen es in dieser schon reichlich romantisch verklärten Woche auch Ich + Ich mit einem ihrer Überhits wieder zurück in die Liste. So soll es bleiben ist seit 10. Oktober schon wieder Chart-kompatibel, allerdings mittlerweile doch nur noch minimal im Verkauf. In dieser Woche gehen die Umsätze noch mal ein klein wenig nach oben und So soll es bleiben steht erneut auf Platz 97. Im April 2008 war der Titel erstmals notiert gewesen und war der dritte Titel in Folge , der es unter die ersten 3 der Charts schaffte. Diese Woche ist es bereits das 52. mal, dass So soll es bleiben notiert wird, ein komplettes Jahr Chartaufenthalt ist damit voll und ein Platz in der Top 20 der am längsten notierten Charttitel gesichert.
Crank It Up ist die zweite Single aus dem Album Guilty Pleasure. Die Lead-Single It’s Alright, It’s Ok platzierte sich im Juni bereits auf Rang 12. Auch das mit Unterstützung medialer Präsenz zur Prime Time. – Der Titel selber ist ein unglaublich elektroider Track, der Ashley Tisdale in eine Reihe mit Britney Spears stellt. Beim ersten Hören des Tracks ohne jegliche Information dazu hatte ich tatsächlich das Gefühl: hey, ein neuer Britney-Track. Das Ganze ist wunderbar kombiniert mit Timbaland-mäßigem Rap and Background-Chören. Geile Mischung! Natürlich gibt es genügend Kritiker, die diese „Anleihen“ unverschämt nennen. Wie ihr das bewertet, könnt ihr ja selber entscheiden. Auf jeden Fall ist es ein ziemlich heißes Stück Pop und etabliert Ashley Tisdale mehr und mehr hierzulande als Garantin für Hit-Singles.

Viel Aktion unter den ersten 10: drei Neueinsteiger und der Rest klammert sich an seine Positionen. So heißt es auch für Lady GaGa: Eine vierte Woche an der Spitze der deutschen Charts mit Poker Face. Das aber ordentlich cool. So ziemlich Komplett-Europa sowie Amerika liegen Lady GaGa zu Füßen. Kein Wunder also, dass Poker Face derzeit auch die Welt-Charts anführt. Und auf der deutschen Homepage ist sogar zu lesen, dass sie die erste Künstlerin seit zehn Jahren ist, die mit ihren ersten beiden Singles bis an die Spitze der amerikanischen Charts stürmen konnte. Ich sag nur: Gratulation! ... Und wenn sie noch eine Woche in Deutschland ganz oben aushält, dann hat sie so viele Wochen wie James Morrison featuring Nelly Furtado auf dem Konto. Und das ist im noch jungen 2009 zunächst mal die Bestleistung. Bei der Anzahl der in den Top 10 verbrachten Wochen schiebt sie sich momentan in die Top 10 mit derzeit 6 Wochen. Einziger Wermutstropfen: bei dem Ansturm an neuem Material muss Vorgänger Just Dance ein wenig Platz machen und taumelt von der 10 auf die 11.
Ob Lady GaGa zu DEM Nr.1-Act des Jahres wird, ist erstmal rein hypothetisch, denn auf der 2 steht in dieser Woche Milow, der mit Ayo Technology wirklich nochmal einen Platz zulegen kann und damit Silbermond verdrängt. Der Belgier hat nun mit der Cover-Version eine bessere Platzierung erreicht als das Original vor 1,5 Jahren und ist der momentan erfolgreichste Newcomer 2009. Und weil sein Deutschland-Fernsehdebüt erst nach dem Auswertungszeitraum für die vorliegenden Charts stattfand (am 31. März im wdr-Morgenmagazin), hat er nächste Woche eventuell noch ein paar Hausfrauen mehr auf seiner Seite.
Ein ordentlicher Knaller steht ganz neu auf der Position 5 und ist damit der höchste Neuzugang. Flo Rida feat. Ke$ha berichten, wie es sich anfühlt, wenn einem der Kopf verdreht wird. In Originalsprache heißt das dann Right Round. Und dieser Track hat noch ne Menge Potenzial. In Großbritannien reichte es bereits bis zur Position 1, in den USA sowieso.
Warum ein Track erfolgreich ist, hat verschiedenste Gründe. Einer ist in den letzten Jahren der Bezug auf markante Samples oder Melodien aus den 80ern gewesen. Und davon profitiert auch Right Round, denn die Hookline ist direkt übernommen von Dead Or Alive und ihrem einzigen weltweiten Hit You Spin Me Round (Like A Record). 1984 erreichte dieser Titel die Position 2 in Deutschland, pophistorisch relevant ist der Titel aber vor allem, weil es der Durchbruch für das Produzententeam Stock, Aitkan, Waterman war, die in den folgenden Jahren solche Acts wie Kylie Minogue und Rick Astley groß machten.
Für Flo Rida ist Right Round die vierte Single insgesamt und sein erfolgreichster Titel bislang. Gestartet war er vor gut einem Jahr mit Unterstützung von T-Pain und Low, was immerhin als Höchstposition die 13 erreichte und in dieser Woche nochmal einsteigt auf der 98 (in der insgesamt 20. Woche). Nun also steigert sich Flo Rida zum Top 10-Act.
Zu Partnerin Ke$ha noch ein Wort: ganz unbekannt ist sie nämlich nicht. Sie hatte bereits einen Auftritt im Video zu Katy Perrys I Kissed A Girl. Wenn das nicht der Beginn einer wundervollen Karriere ist ...
Neu unter den ersten 10 landet mit Enrique Iglesias featuring Sarah Connor ein Duett, dass gar nicht anders kann als einschlagen. Der Titel Takin' Back My Love stammt aus dem Greatest Hits-Album des Spaniers und wurde im Original von Ciara eingesungen. Für den deutschsprachigen Markt sowie Russland, Polen und Tschechien wurde die Variante mit Sarah Connor aufgenommen, in Frankreich erschien das Duett zusammen mit Tyssom. Die Musikindustrie kalkuliert also ziemlich genau und in Deutschland geht die Rechnung auf. Takin' Back My Love landet auf Platz 9 in der ersten Woche und liefert Enrique Iglesias den sechsten Top 10-Hit. Sarah Connor kann mit dieser Single bereits ihren 13. Titel unter die ersten 10 schieben. Beiden tut die Zusammenarbeit und der Erfolg ganz gut. Enrique Iglesias war zuletzt 2007 ganz oben mit Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song), Sarah Connor hatte zum Ende 2008 dann doch nicht so die ganz riesigen Erfolge zu verbuchen. Ob sich das Duett aber tatsächlich für längere Zeit im oberen Bereich halten kann, nun ja, ich wär mir da nicht so sicher. Ist dann doch zu sehr auf Sicherheit produziert und an manchen Stellen klingt es sogar ein wenig nach Lady GaGa.
Und noch ein Neuzugang. Und dazu noch von Chart-Neulingen. Die amerikanische Band Metro Station kletterte im letzten Jahr mit Shake It ganz langsam die heimischen Charts nach oben. Anfang März stürmten sie dann die britischen Charts und jetzt ist Shake It auch auf dem deutschen Markt als CD erhältlich. Glatt springt der Titel auf die Position 10 und bereitet der Band, die irgendwie gar nicht amerikanisch klingt, einen schönen Einstand.
Das waren aber bei weitem noch nicht alle maßgebenden Veröffentlichungen der Woche. In den Top 20 gibt es zwei weitere Tracks von Bedeutung. Zunächst der Platz 19: der ist seit Monaten aus keiner Disco mehr wegzudenken und steht seit Jahresanfang immer ganz oben in den Offiziellen Dance Charts Deutschlands, derzeit Position 2. Die Rede ist von Big Ali featuring Dollarman und ihrem Stomper Hit The Floor. In manchen Listen steht dahinter noch "The Power". Das ist durchaus berechtigt, denn ein wesentlicher Bestandteil des Tracks ist das immer noch beliebte Signet von Snap!. Allerdings gibt es auf der gerade erschienenen CD diverse Mixe und mal ist "The Power" präsenter, mal subtiler reingemixt.
Der Titel selber ist keineswegs ein ultraneuer Sound. Das gab es schön diverse male und so sind auch die Interpreten keineswegs Neulinge. 2006 tauchten beide erstmals an der Seite von Bob Sinclar auf und bereicherten sein Rock This Party. Dollarman durfte ein Jahr später noch einmal in Aktion treten auf Sound Of Freedom. Und so haben die beiden New Yorker schon einen ordentlichen Top 20-Hit im Gepäck, dem sie mit Hit The Floor nun einen eigenen hinzufügen.
Pathetisch, fulminant, orchestral gehts dann auf der 20 weiter. Dort stehen aktuell Take That mit Auskopplung Nummer 2 aus ihrem Album The Circus. Der Titel ist The Garden und das eigentlich Besondere an ihm ist, dass er die erste Single des Albums Greatest Day im Verkauf schlägt. Das ist eher ungewöhnlich.
Mit Platz 20 sind die vier Briten erstmals seit 1,5 Jahren wieder in den Top 20 vertreten.
Wie es mit Deichkind weiter geht, ist nach dem Tod ihres Produzenten Sebastian Hackert im Februar zunächst mal ungewiss. Sicher werden die vier Hamburger Jungs weiter machen, ob es bei der Art Elektro-HipHop bleibt, für den sie seit etwa fünf Jahren stehen, wird sicher intern diskutiert werden. Zunächst kommt mit Luftbahn noch ein Titel in dieser Manier. Obwohl ich beim ersten Hören fast ein wenig erschrocken war über die Sanftheit und das Schlagerhafte. Aber nach zwei- dreimal Hören gehe ich gut mit. Die siebte Chartsingle der Band ist mit Platz 36 recht gut platziert.
Und ganz unten platziert sich zum 21. mal der Deichkind-Klassiker Remmidemmi (Yippie Yippie Yeah), genau gesagt auf der 94. Und irgendwie geht der ja ständig rein und wieder raus ... das ist so etwas wie ein Muss in jeder iTunes-Sammlung.
Brandy hatte ihre großen Erfolge Ende der 90er und kurz nach der Jahrtausendwende. Dann wurde es irgendwie still um sie. Nicht, dass sie nicht immer wieder mal auf Produktionen auftauchte, aber irgendwie wurde es zu einem Namen unter vielen. Kein Wunder, ihr letztes eigenes Album erschien 2004. Aber seit letztem Sommer arbeitet sie intensiv an einem Comeback und mit Right Here (Departed) schickt sie sich zur Rückkehr an. Der R'n'B-Track überrascht nicht, kann aber durch Eingängigkeit punkten: Platz 39 gibt es dafür. Seit 2002 war sie nicht mehr in diesen Höhen notiert.
Der höchste Wiedereinsteiger gehört in dieser Woche Sido u. Doreen mit ihrem Titel Nein!. Wahrscheinlich ist die neuerliche Popularität Sidos Auftritt in Mario Barths Film Männersache zu verdanken, der just am 19. März seinen Start hatte. Auf jeden Fall ist Platz 48 bereits die 12. Woche in den Charts und einer der am wenigstens nach dem harten Sido klingenden Tracks. Wenn er sich dann im Film sogar über sich selbst lustig macht, dann könnte man schon glauben, dass sich da was ändert.
Bandkollege Fler hats da eher mit der alten Gangster-Rolle. Angeblich haben sich beide ja wieder vertragen, Fler soll trotzdem nicht mehr bei Aggro Berlin sein. Nun, seine neue Single Check mich aus ist jedenfalls noch auf dem Label erschienen, schaffts allerdings nur bis Platz 74. Sehr schwach für Fler. Also stehts 1:0 für Sido.
Bei der Anzahl an starken neuen Veröffentlichungen ist es fast schwer noch einen Blick in die untere Charthälfte zu riskieren. Aber auch da gibt es ein paar spannende Dinge zu entdecken. Zum Beispiel das Debüt von Oceana. Die Dame ist uns bekannt aus dem Seeed-Umfeld und hat bei Peter Fox und Co schon diverse Erfahrungen sammeln können. MIt Cry Cry geht sie nun Solopfade und kann sich auf der 52 etablieren. Netter Sound mit ganz vielen Einflüssen ... und überall liest man, dass sie live umwerfend sein soll.
Ein paar Plätze drunter, auf der 56 platziert sich Roger Cicero mit seiner neuen Single Nicht Artgerecht. Sie stammt aus dem aktuellen Album Artgerecht und ist - das ist irgendwie eine Überraschung - die zweiterfolgreichste Veröffentlichung von Roger Cicero, zumindest den Chartpositionen nach. Bisher war er nur ein einziges Mal besser gewesen. Klar, wir erinnern uns alle noch, mit dem Eurovisions-Beitrag 2007 Frauen regier'n die Welt. Das konnte sich sogar bis in die Top 10 schieben und Platz 7 erringen. Alles andere endete immer irgendwo in den 70ern. Nun also ein kleiner Höhenflug. Wahrscheinlich verursacht durch seinen Filmauftritt im Bio-Pic Hilde.
Unter den Wiedereinsteigern gibt es für mich auch eine kleine Überraschung, denn nach drei Monaten Zwangspause darf Scotty mit The Black Pearl wieder gelistet werden. Das passiert auch, und zwar ziemlich hoch auf der 75, was nur wenige Plätze unter der Notierung liegt, mit der Scotty am 7. November 2008 erstmals ins deutsche Chartgeschehen eingriff. Ich hatte diesen Titel überhaupt nicht mehr auf dem Plan. Fluch der Karibik ist seit Jahren abgedreht, und so original fand ich die orchestrale Filmmusik meets Elektro-Version auch nicht. Wahrscheinlich tut der Remix von Dave Darell noch einiges dazu, denn den gibt es im Digitalpaket dazu. So - und nun frage ich mich wieder einmal warum denn kein Label schnallt, dass dieses hier ein waschechter Hit ist? Nun ja - die Fans kaufen eh digital, DJ Scotty ist also in Woche 10 wieder dabei und es gilt zu schlagen Position 62. Ich drücke die Daumen.
Nur eine Randnotiz ist der Wiedereintritt von Ich + Ich mit Stark auf der 96 wert. Die beiden gehören immer noch zum Standardrepertoire. Und ab nächste Woche darf dann auch Vom selbe Stern wieder gelistet werden. Mal schauen.
Letzter Neuzugang auf der 97 und es ist mir mal wieder eine Ehre, eine kleine Geschichte drüber zu schreiben. Hier debütiert nämlich Carlos Sancha mit Feuer. Der 25jährige wird produziert von Bob Arnz, der unter anderem auch schon LaFee betreut hat. Angeblich haben die beiden sich auf einer Hochzeitsparty kennen gelernt, wo Carlos Sancha auftrat. Nun ja. Das Debüt finde ich leider etwas fad und uninspiriert. Ok, das ist irgendwie schon Rockmusik, aber ich find es klingt reichlich altmodisch. Hätte so auch schon 1984 erscheinen können und wäre dann wahrscheinlich genauso wenig beachtet worden. Sorry, diesmal hab ich zum Schluss keine alles-wird-gut-Geschichte.

Ob Lady GaGa zu DEM Nr.1-Act des Jahres wird, ist erstmal rein hypothetisch, denn auf der 2 steht in dieser Woche Milow, der mit Ayo Technology wirklich nochmal einen Platz zulegen kann und damit Silbermond verdrängt. Der Belgier hat nun mit der Cover-Version eine bessere Platzierung erreicht als das Original vor 1,5 Jahren und ist der momentan erfolgreichste Newcomer 2009. Und weil sein Deutschland-Fernsehdebüt erst nach dem Auswertungszeitraum für die vorliegenden Charts stattfand (am 31. März im wdr-Morgenmagazin), hat er nächste Woche eventuell noch ein paar Hausfrauen mehr auf seiner Seite.
Ein ordentlicher Knaller steht ganz neu auf der Position 5 und ist damit der höchste Neuzugang. Flo Rida feat. Ke$ha berichten, wie es sich anfühlt, wenn einem der Kopf verdreht wird. In Originalsprache heißt das dann Right Round. Und dieser Track hat noch ne Menge Potenzial. In Großbritannien reichte es bereits bis zur Position 1, in den USA sowieso.
Warum ein Track erfolgreich ist, hat verschiedenste Gründe. Einer ist in den letzten Jahren der Bezug auf markante Samples oder Melodien aus den 80ern gewesen. Und davon profitiert auch Right Round, denn die Hookline ist direkt übernommen von Dead Or Alive und ihrem einzigen weltweiten Hit You Spin Me Round (Like A Record). 1984 erreichte dieser Titel die Position 2 in Deutschland, pophistorisch relevant ist der Titel aber vor allem, weil es der Durchbruch für das Produzententeam Stock, Aitkan, Waterman war, die in den folgenden Jahren solche Acts wie Kylie Minogue und Rick Astley groß machten.
Für Flo Rida ist Right Round die vierte Single insgesamt und sein erfolgreichster Titel bislang. Gestartet war er vor gut einem Jahr mit Unterstützung von T-Pain und Low, was immerhin als Höchstposition die 13 erreichte und in dieser Woche nochmal einsteigt auf der 98 (in der insgesamt 20. Woche). Nun also steigert sich Flo Rida zum Top 10-Act.

Der Titel Takin' Back My Love stammt aus dem Greatest Hits-Album des Spaniers und wurde im Original von Ciara eingesungen. Für den deutschsprachigen Markt sowie Russland, Polen und Tschechien wurde die Variante mit Sarah Connor aufgenommen, in Frankreich erschien das Duett zusammen mit Tyssom. Die Musikindustrie kalkuliert also ziemlich genau und in Deutschland geht die Rechnung auf. Takin' Back My Love landet auf Platz 9 in der ersten Woche und liefert Enrique Iglesias den sechsten Top 10-Hit. Sarah Connor kann mit dieser Single bereits ihren 13. Titel unter die ersten 10 schieben. Beiden tut die Zusammenarbeit und der Erfolg ganz gut. Enrique Iglesias war zuletzt 2007 ganz oben mit Do You Know?
