No change at the top:
Despacito holds firm a 13th week. Still it is the version featuring
Justin Bieber that sells most copies so the honour goes to all three
Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee plus Canadian Justin Bieber. 13 weeks at #1 bring the song under the twenty longest running #1 hits of all times. If one only count modern weekly chart issues
Despacito belongs to the 11 longest running #1s.
Talking about #1 stats I have to add: There are two weeks more to go for
Despacito to eclipse the result of predecessor
Shape Of You by
Ed Sheeran from the beginning of 2017.
Having these two long runners back to back we witness a situation last seen exactly 60 years ago! In 1957 it was
Margot Eskens and her version of
Cindy Oh Cindy that spent five complete months at the top or 150 days or 21 weeks and 3 days–which is the longest running #1 hit Germany ever had. Followed by the three months run at the top of
Banana Boat by
Harry Belafonte that year had 242 days with only two different songs topping the list. Right now the result of
Shape of You and
Despacito sums up to 196 days. With weekly changed charts of course instead of monthly issues.
As the
Imagine Dragons rise a single place to #2 with
Thunder it is the first time since
January 2014 that the highest European production only ranks at #3. This week it is
OK by
Robin Schulz Feat. James Blunt that slides 2–3 in its ninth chart week.
As calm the single's chart look as sensational the album lust appears. At #1 the new
Sampler 4 by
187 Strassenbande arrives. It is an all star collection of course providing heavily new tracks by
Bonez MC and
Gzuz. The Hamburg collective definitely is the new German rap nobility as it beats out the new
Kollegah release
Legacy that only ranks at #2. 12 months ago no one ever would suspect that.
On the other hand the Hamburg crew isn't the only player on the field at all. Dresden
KMN Gang at least releases hit tracks in amounts–even this week
Miami Yacine beats 187 Strassenbande with his new track
Bon Voyage taht lands at #5.
Millionär by the Hamburg gang is outsold at #6.
All in all there 41 songs in German inside the list–a feat last seen on
December 18th 2015.
