22nd December 17: EMINEM's Back

Seemingly Perfect is the Christmas tune of 2017. Pushed by the duet version with Beyonce the song holds firm for a third week at #1. Of course this recent list covers sales within the week right before Christmas days. In seven days time we know what Germany loves to listen to at Christmas.

With this week at #1 Ed Sheeran establish himself as the artist appearing at #1 in 2017 most. It is the 18th week–so he also is the best performing #1 act of the whole decade. Only Justin Bieber might be taken as more successful if one count his appearance on Despacito as full performance.
18 weeks at #1 in one calendar year–it's a feat last seen in 1978 when Boney M. collected 19 weeks with to #1 hits.

2017 definitely was the year of German rap. The past two weeks came from German rap acts too. This week the best new album comes again from a rap star although it is an USAmerican veteran. EMINEM is back at #2 with his latest offering Revival. As best selling single track from the collection the collaboration with Ed Sheeran River shoots to #3 on the songs list. It is the fourth top 10 song for the British singer in 2017 and the fourth reaching #3 or higher. EMINEM meanwhile collected 17 top 10 hits.

Raf Camora's album Anthrazit RR now is available for free–as leading single track Gotham City invades the list at #9 as paid download/stream alone. Part 1 of the album again goes 63–29 in its 17th chart week.

Back to real Christmas songs. All I Want For Christmas Is You and Last Christmas still leading the seasonal list at #5 and #11. At #20 a third new classic tune lands with Wonderful Dream (Holidays Are Coming) by Melanie Thornton. It is the first time since 2008/09 that the song can achieve top20 status. Now it spends its 108th week inside the list.
15 years after it first appeared in the list Driving Home For Christmas by Chris Rea achieves a new peak at #22. It is one place better than its peak two years ago. The song already gets its 47th chart week.
Eight places higher than last season Merry Christams Everyone by Shakin' Stevens lands. The song reaches its new peak at #30 32 years after it first appeared on the list. Although it is a slightly young classic tune as it enters the list regularly since 2015 only–so it spent so far seven weeks inside the charts.
A real new time classic is It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas recorded by Canadian Michael Bublé. The song had its peak so far two years ago by getting to #49. This year it already reaches #48–and there are still some days to sell.
At #54 Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney reaches a new peak. The song recorded in 1979 started charts life last year and now spends its fourth week inside the list.
Also Britney Spears celebrates a new peak for her Christmas song My Only Wish (This Year). It is the third consecutive year that it appears in the charts and it is the third consecutive year it reaches a peak–currently #81.


With only 60 productions involving Europeans the continent is as weak present on the survey as in July 2016 when only 58 productions with Europeans were listed.

Hot Spot 11-15-13

A third week for Klingande and their Jubel at number 1. Last French act occupying the Top spot for at least three weeks was Bob Sinclar and his inofficial WM anthem Love Generation that spent five weeks at the very Top in spring 2006.

King of the week is EMINEM. His latest album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 goes straight to number 1 inside the album list. Current single The Monster featuring Rihanna rises 7–3 giving the rapper his sixth Top 3 hit in Germany. Accompanying Rihanna is a little more succesfull. The Monster already is her 12th Top 3 song. Seven of them she had within the past four years – so she is by now the most succesful artist of the current decade. Not alone that. With 170 weeks inside the Top 10 she now overtakes Madonna's record as the female artist with most Top 10 weeks. Now Rihanna is heading for the record of The Beatles. The fab four stand with 227 weeks at the Top of the All Time List.

Once we're talking 'bout Rihanna one should recognize her latest single What Now climbing up the list also due to it's release in some more remix versions. The first edition of remixes brought her to a mere number 83. With the new release she achieves number 49. Predecessor Right Now (featuring DJ David Guetta stopped at number 43 five months ago.

Back to EMINEM once again and for very short: also single Survival rises and lands at number 20 while Berzerk goes 28–24 again after being Nr.10 back in September. Rap God goes 44–33. – Propelled by the new album also Lose Yourself from 2002 can made it back to the list. It sits pretty this week at number 85 almost exactly 11 years after it appeared first in the survey.


Pitbull Feat. Ke$ha are entering the Top 10 with their single Timber. The song enters the stores as physical release today – so we will see it higher than number 7 in 14 days. By entering the area Pitbull gains his third Top 10 hit in 2013 – he is only the third main artist doing so. KE$HA only manages a third Top 10 hit at all. This weeks she ends a three years long abstinence.

LORDE finally also becomes a Top 10 artist by entering Nr.9 with Royals. Since Kimbra almost two year ago no act from New Zealand was seen that high. The last main artist from New Zealand inside the German Top 10 was Brooke Fraser in June 2011.

British X Factor winner 2012 – James Arthur – gains some more attention this week by releasing his debut album. In his home country he proves to be a superstar by landing at number 2. In Germany the album lands only at number 25. As an effect his two singles rise up the list once more. Impossible climbs back to number 45, follow up single You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You bounces back 77–55.

Damien Rice already is a secret star. His (or his band's) tunes were used in several TV serials or public events. But nobody knew the man and his band so far. Now the label 14th floor released one of his most popular recording 9 crimes again. And finally it can make it into the charts as a single hit landing at number 61.

By releasing a new song every single week Canadian teen star Justin Bieber now became the artist with most charting songs in one year. This week's Bad Day is already the 9th song in 2013 that can appear on the list. The man now overtakes such big names like Pitbull, Flo Rida and Helene Fischer who stuck with "only" eight different songs. To get some better impressions of what this feat means: David Guetta had 14 charting tracks in 2012 and even 16 in 2011. So there is some more to do for becoming a real super star.

Also Avril Lavigne offered a new album. According to critics and sales figures the collection of songs is much less than retro. Number 15 means this is the worst performing album ever for the lady. Also re-entering single Let Me Go (alongside with husband Chad Kroeger) only can reach number 70. Never a charting single stopped lower.



Casting show effects
As always one can find some tracks in the list that benefit from the performance of hopeful aspirants. Mostly the songs disappear after a single week – so one could ignore them very well. But very often well known tunes appear on stage - so we could call them classics also. Recognizing them might tell some stories 'bout the current cultural mood in Germany.

This week we can watch Korean YIRUMA returning to the list with his composition of River Flows In You. It was written and recorded in 2001 but had a long long wait to become famous. First wider recognition came with the use of the melody within a Twilight fan video. Some months later DJ Jasper Forks recorded an own version. Than also the original by YIRUMA had a chance to chart as a single track too. Now it belongs to one of the most loved pieces for all who study classic instruments like piano. The track lands this week according to a performance on Das Supertalent by young piano player Thomas Krüger. I guess we will watch the song again when the show airs its final.

Song number 2 is Under by Alex Hepburn. The song was performed on The Voice Of Germany on October 31st by Yvonne Rüller. In March this year it had a 14 weeks long chart career peaking at number 34. Now it re-enters at number 79.


Songs To Watch
Might be an upcoming hit: Strong by the London Grammar. The band released its album digitally in October. A full physical release is available right now. In between the single can gain some attention and enters the charts at number 83.

Full three weeks before its release on CD Unconditionally by Katy Perry starts its chart life at number 86.

Hot Spot 11-08-13

Klingande is back at number 1.

Adel Tawil follows at number 2. It is the fifth single presenting the singer as an main artist. And it is the fourth in a row that can reach at least number 2. It's an impressive result for 35 years old man.

Rihanna enables her 20th Top 10 hit by The Monster charting at number 7. It is the 169th times that a song featuring Rihanna as a main artist is listed inside the Top 10. That amount eclipses the result of Queen of Pop Madonna. So next week we eventually can crown a new all time queen.
Collaborating partner of the queen - EMINEM - so far has a 15th Top 10 hit under his belt collecting 97 weeks inside the German Top 10.

Supported by the success of the new single and a week before the full album release also digital single Survival gets a boost rising 20 places to number 32. Let's wait a further week - than the fastest music buyers already had the chance to get the album. It could propel the singles much further.


Aloe Blacc rises with his recording of Wake Me Up. It reaches number 42 in its second chart week.

The death of a big artist always brings his most famous songs back to the charts. On 27th of October Lou Reed died. Probably one of the most creative and influencing musician the 21st century has seen his fame as a producer of (commercial and mainstream) hits is quite not existing. But anyone would know for sure his tune Walk On The Wild Side which right now can enter the singles' charts for the very first time and gives the artist his debut on this survey. A mere Nr 67 only reflects the situation of his whole career.

Another classic tune charts for the 71st time this week. It is Nothing Else Matters by Metallica that by now enters the Top 20 of the most appearing songs of all times. The record so far is held by Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner and their anthem Sky And Sand which collected unbelievable 128 weeks inside the survey.

Hot Spot 10-04-13

Jason Derulo Feat. 2 Chainz still occupy the number 1 slot. Seems that Talk Dirty really is much more than a short runner but stands in contrast with the weak performance of the album. That one called Tattoos only can make number 25 in Germany which is the highest rank a Derulo album ever reached. Well – the man is much more a hit single's artist. - Just to underline this fact Fire enters the list as an album cut at number 91. Duetting partner Pitbull hereby becomes the act with most charting songs of the current decade. With 26 official tracks plus two uncredited he now has overtaken French DJ David Guetta who so far launched 25 singles under his name from 2010 on.

Olly Murs' Single Dear Darlin' climbs in its 11th week to number 2 which gives the British star his second single in 2013 that can reach at the runners up position. Once he had a number 1 hit. It was back in April 2012 when Heart Skips A Beat managed it to be the most sold track for two weeks.

Linkin Park has a third Top 10 hit in a row with A Light That Never Comes rising to number 8 in its second chart week. Co-producer and remixer Steve Aoki appears as a main artist for the first time. His take on Kid CuDi's Pursuit Of Happiness made it to number 51 this May.

Also EMINEM launches a new Top 10 hit with Berzerk jumping to No.10 two weeks before it is officially released. It is the 14th Top 10 song of 26 that had charted in the past 14 years.


After Woodkid last week now Klingande is the second French act invading the Top 20. The song Jubel is clearly inspired by Klangkarussell's Sonnentanz – with rising to number 12 it certainly can copy the success of the Austrian production. The "original" still sells very well. In its 59th chart week it still ranks as number 14.

German Schlager star Helene Fischer slowly becomes a hit singer too. Her eighth chart entry Fehlerfrei starts its commercial life at number 20 which is the highest position the artist can achieve so far. Her next album sales count from next issue on – so probably leading single will rise some places further.

Chart flash 11-17: I Really Miss New Tracks

Let me tell you one thing first: I do love pop music. And I do love the charts. But sometimes it is really hard to do so. If you find the Top 3 completely the same as last week this is perhaps a sign of very good and beloved tracks. If one find such constellation every third or fourth week one could doubt the quality of songs. Maybe it’s more an effect of fearfull release schedules or a public very conservative. Or the really new and fresh sound does not find the way into the market. Who knows.

In case of the recent list we whitnes a static Top 3. I would say it is caused by really catchy productions. And I would say dance floor and club sound spiced with some Eurodance samples of the late 80s or 90s is the must be of today. On top of the German chart JLO feat. Pitbull, Snoop Dogg vs. David Guetta and Rihanna are cemented non movers. For Jennifer Lopez it is the third week at the top spot.

After having 5 of 7 new entries coming from Germany last week the new list shows three American productions as the highest new entering tracks. Leading the pack is the trio Dr. DRE featuring Eminem & Skylar Grey. The track I Need A Doctor is the second single from long awaited and announced album of Dr. DRE himself Detox. The first single Kush never made it into the German charts. So I Need A Doctor is the first time Dr. DRE appears in the list as a main artist for over 9 years. Of course he had some hits as a producer meanwhile most recently We Made You the very first come back single of EMINEM released in 2009. Eminem instead does have his 24th chart entry by now. And Skylar Grey finds her way into the German chart for a second time.

This all star collaboration should ensure a proper chart career. But the track is entering the list only at number 25 in its first week. It is this already the third week in a row that the highest new entry charts lower than position 20. Do we really lack of interest for new tracks?

That was 2010

As media control announces on 4th of January the most sold single track in Germany 2010 was Israel IZ Kamakawiwo’ole’s Somewhere Over The Rainbow. This is really a surprise cause the latest no.1 in a year never was the no.1 of the whole year sales also. In only 17 weeks the Haitian musician sold more copies than runners up Shakira (33 weeks) and German eurovision star Lena (36 weeks). Even the race between that two was exciting. At 25th of October Satellite by Lena was still in leading position. Finally the last few weeks of the year brought the counting sales and a surprising weak Lena. The German fairytale ends up in a grounded girl star who right now starts her second attempt to the European crown. Keep your fingers crossed for not forcing a desaster.

Kind of solace: In 1982 German Eurovision winner Nicole only spent four weeks at the top of the German singles charts overtaken at year’s end by three German tracks and a British synth athem. Lena without any doubt had the most successfull German single track of 2010 – although Satellite is sung originally in English. There was a German version charting this year too. A bunch of soccer loving students made a youtube-video-version of Satellite called Schland O Schland (a slang shortening for „Germany Oh Germany”) which became very popular and made the act Uwu Lena pressed on CD reaching no.4 in July. A third version by national eurovision contestant Jennifer Braun also had a two weeks chart run: I guess Satellite is far and away the most popular composition of 2010.

The most sold track sung in German comes from UNHEILIG – probably the commercially most successfull German act in 2010 as its album Große Freiheit (Big Freedom) stands as the best selling album of the year plus leading single Geboren um zu leben (Born For Living) is no.4 at the singles ranking.

The act with the most impressive presence at the singles charts in 2010 was french DJ David Guetta. He was named as an artist on ten tracks charted at least one week in 2010. The total is an record writing 187 chart weeks. As a producer he has a further three charting singles under his belt: Kelis’ Acapella as well as I Gotta Feeling and Rock That Body by The Black Eyed Peas.
In comparison The Beatles collected 163 chart weeks with 14 singles in 1964. The Fab Four would have had much more if the monthly charts in that year would have listed more than 50 places. If we only count the top 50 listings of David Guetta we will get 114 – well the Liverpool boys are still far and away. Nonetheless David Guetta is the most invading chart artist of the last years and decades. Even Michael Jackson had in 2009 – the year of his dead – „only“ 133 chart weeks counting under same conditions as David Guetta.

Talking about presence: 2010 was a year with very slow chart movements. Only two tracks shot directly to no.1. Both were promoted heavily by famous TV shows. First Lena did so with her Satellite in March. A month later DSDS (German Idols) winner Mehrzad Marashi entered the top with Don’t Believe. In 2009 there were 8 tracks entering the charts at the top spot.
Slowing down the hysteria for new tracks was combined in 2010 with longer chart runs. The big hits spent months within the upper regions of the list. Heavy Cross by Gossip already no.8 at the year chart of 2009 was listed the whole year 2010 collecting impressive 80 consecutive chart weeks in Germany most of them. The record lies at 81 weeks held by German singer Wolfgang Petry between 1996 and 1998. This one is going to be broken!
In 2010 another 12 tracks spent more than 40 weeks in the charts 8 of them without any break. So there is no wonder 8 of the ten longest running tracks of all times charted at least one week in 2010. You see chart history completely new written that last year.

Most ruling acts in terms of spent chart weeks were (besides David Guetta) Lady Gaga, The Black Eyed Peas and German band Culcha Candela. Most popular acts in terms of hits were Rihanna with 5 top 10 singles and Katy Perry having 4 hits. Both had four top hits in a row – Rihanna missed a complete 6 hit strike by getting Te Amo only up to no.11. As a solace the girl from the Bahamas is the act who spent most weeks within the German top 10 in 2010. A whole 32 weeks count for her followed by German UNHEILIG which spent 29 weeks at the top, 23 weeks of them with Geboren um zu leben.

These are the acts of the day. What about the classics?

The act with the longest during chart history in 2010 is Bing Crosby. Thanks to his seasonal classic White Christmas he now is for almost 54 years present in people’s minds and in the different kinds of chart listings. But White Christmas is not at all the track which stays in the charts for the longest time. Actually music companies really missed releasing the popular track as a single over all the years. White Christmas was available in a German version in 1955 sung by Gerhard Wendland ranking as high as no.26 in January 1956 – that’s all. For the first time the original recording charted in 2007 when digital downloads were counted for the official charts. So the two songs charted over the longest period are Imagine and Happy Xmas (War Is Over) both recorded by John Lennon and finding friends and purchasers for 38 years.

A German speaking singer stretched his carreer to more than 52 years in 2010 without any seasonal help is Austrian Udo Jürgens. Thanks to his collaboration with Sportfreunde Stiller he now is known to a completely new generation of music lovers.

The most solid act in recent times is Jon Bon Jovi. He is to find within the charts for 25 consecutive years either as a solo artist or with his band Bon Jovi. Now he gots the ultimate chance to overtake Madonna who for the first time since 1984 has no chart entry at all over the whole year. Most solid German act is since long time Scooter. They finish now a 17th year with at least one hit.

The act with the longest absence are Belgian Vaya Con Dios. Their hit Nah Neh Nah from 1990 had a comeback in mainstream conciousness due to different club remixes. The most popular made by German DJ duo Milk&Sugar charted a few days before Christmas bringing the group founded by Dani Klein a comeback after more than 17 years.

The real comeback of the last year is probably done by EMINEM. Well he had in a way his comeback in 2009 with his album Relapse and the single We Made You. But in 2010 he went back as a superstar rising his Love The Way You Lie (with Rihanna) back to no.1. It took him 8 years since he was last seen at the top spot – now his span of no.1 hits stretches over a time of nine and a half year. He is one of the superstars of the still young 21st century.

Some funny statistics at the end?
There are three acts who had six different tracks in the list at the same time. German band brings did so at carnival season and french DJ David Guetta was as popular end of August beginning September. Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am did so in July with two tracks as a solo artist and four with his group.

If we talk about success we could talk about fails as well. Also in 2010 German singer Westernhagen did not have the chance of having his first real mainstream hit. His 23rd chart hit Wir haben die Schnauze voll rose up to no.67 in March leaving him without a top 10 hit since 1982 when he charted for the first time.

The very least successful chart act 2010 was Chris Campell. At March 12th the DJ entered the German list with his take on HIM’s Join Me which now is called Tonight. A fortnight later the track was not seen anymore.

Ende der Ferienzeit: Zweitauskopplungen von Milow, David Guetta und Eminem

In Deutschland geht die Ferienzeit langsam zu Ende. (Obwohl sie in manchen Bundesländern gerade erst begonnen hat.) Das macht sich auch im Musikbusiness bemerkbar. Es gibt wieder CD-Neustarts, die eine Menge Leute in die Geschäfte treiben und demzufolge auch in den Charts recht weit oben lnden. In dieser Woche mit Nelly Furtado und Beyoncé gleich zwei in den Top 10. Aber natürlich spielen auch die Urlaubs- und da besonders die Mallorca-Hits weiterhin eine ganz wichtige Rolle. Zum Beispiel Frauenarzt & Manny Marc. Ihre Atzensingle Das geht ab! [Wir feiern die ganze Nacht] ist landauf landab der Kracher, ganz besonders aber auf Mallorca. Laut wikipedia sind die beiden in diesem Sommer jeden Sonntag ins „Riu Palace“ geflogen, um ihren Gassenhauer zu präsentieren. Naja, das muss man natürlich auch erstmal wollen. Für Frauenarzt & Manny Marc geht’s allerdings vorrangig um Spaß, und ich schätz’ mal, den haben sie trotz all der Herumfliegerei und Bombenattentate noch genug. Zumindest reicht es um den Umsatz der Single nochmal zu erhöhen: Platz 9 in dieser Woche und damit der erste Top 10-Hit für die beiden.

Für einige Acts, war die erste Augustwoche (denn der Verkauf aus dieser steht hinter der aktuellen media control Liste) das Datum, in denen nach mehr oder weniger großem Erfolg eine Nachfolgesingle ins Rennen geschickt wurde.
So folgte von Milow nach dem umwerfenden Erfolg von Ayo Technology (auch in dieser Woche noch gut positioniert auf der 24 von der 22 leicht fallend) zum ausklingenden Sommer You Don’t Know. Bei diesem titel handelt es sich genau genommen allerdings gar nicht wirklich um ein Follow Up, sondern um seinen ersten Hit – zumindest in seiner Heimat Belgien. Im Frühjahr 2007 war dieser Titel bis auf Platz 3 der flämischen Ultra Top 50 geklettert. Zuvor war Milow bereits 2004 mit diesem Song beim Musikerwettbewerb „Humo’s Rock Rally aufgetreten und auch positiv aufgefallen – allerdings reichte es damals noch nicht für den kommerziellen Erfolg. Nun also ist dieser erste Hit von Milow auch in Resteuropa veröffentlicht worden. Stimmung und Sound sind identisch zu Ayo Technology: leicht melancholisch, unterstützt mit akustischer Gitarre und sehr auf Milows Stimme setzend. Dem deutschen Publikum gefällts: Platz 17 in der Woche der Veröffentlichung. In Österreich, der Schweiz und Großbritannien geht es dagegen etwas vorsichtiger los: zwischen Platz 33 und 56 ist da das Ergebnis.

Einen Nachfolger (der keiner ist) gibt es auch von David Guetta. Sein When Love Takes Over mit der Stimme von Kelly Rowland bestimmt derzeit noch alle Discotheken und Parties in Gesamteuropa – steht in den deutschen Dance Charts unangefochten auf der Position 1 und in den allgemeinen Single-Charts auf Platz 4 (von der 3 verdrängt). Seit 24. Juli ist ein weiterer Titel aus dem anstehenden Album One Love erhältlich: Sexy Bitch ist in Zusammenarbeit mit Akon entstanden, angeblich haben sich die beiden gesehen und sind sofort ins Studio. Der Track ist ein elektrifizierender Dancefloor-Killer, der sogar When Love Takes Over an Direktheit noch übertrifft. Akons Vocals und der Elektrobeat von David Guetta ergänzen sich dermaßen, dass man sich kaum noch eine andere Kollaboration vorstellen kann. Aber die kommt ... denn ab 5. August steht ein weiterer Song aus dem Album bei iTunes: Gettin’ Over, dann wieder mit Partner Chris Willis. Mit dieser Stück-für-Stück-Veröffentlichung geht die Plattenfirma (oder David Guetta selber) einen ziemlich cleveren und innovativen Weg der Vermarktung. Momentan scheint die Taktik aufzugehen: Sexy Bitch steigt in den Dance-Charts auf der 3 ein und in den Single-Charts auf 20 (durch reine iTunes-Verkäufe). In der Schweiz reicht es sogar für Platz 2 und Österreich meldet Platz 10. In der nächsten Woche werden wir dann sehen, ob es Gettin’ Over zu ähnlichen Höhen bringt und ab 21. August können wir beobachten was mit der Lang-CD geschieht. Momentan geht in Sachen Dancefloor ohne den französischen DJ in Europa jedenfalls nichts (außer vielleicht in seinem Heimatland selber, wo ja DJ Laurent Konrad samt Kunstfigur Helmut Fritz gerade sämtliche Talk-Shows und Parties beherrscht. Aber das ist eine andere Geschichte.

Nachfolgesingles von Herren sind das Thema der Woche: Auch EMINEM schickt eine nächste Auskopplung ins Rennen. Aber Beautiful kann nicht an den Vorgänger We Made You anschließen. Obwohl in physischer Form als CD erhältlich, geht die Single gerade mal auf Platz 39 in die Liste. Da scheint eine ganze Ära langsam zu Ende zu gehen … Erfolgreicher HipHop klingt irgendwie doch anders und setzt momentan eher auf Elektronik oder wenigstens Funk/Dance statt auf leicht betagten Gitarrensound.

Neues CD-Material in der Langfassung gibt es seit 31. Juli von 2raumwohnung. Lasso steht in den Regalen und schafft es, als bester Neustart der Woche durchzugehen: in den Album-Charts auf Platz 5. Davon profitiert (wie bei anderen Veröffentlichungen auch immer wieder) ebenfalls die Singleauskopplung Wir werden sehen. Nach dem Einstieg auf Platz 43 vor zwei Wochen, rutschte der Song vor einer Woche gar auf die 60 und kann nun mit neuem Wind nochmal auf die 45 zurückkehren. Erfahrungsgemäß sind solche Ausreißer zum Start des Longplayers nur eine kurze Episode. 2raumwohnung dürfen damit eindeutig als Album-Act eingestuft werden, was bei ihrem Sound eigentlich nicht ganz selbstverständlich ist . Für die Fans von Einzelauskopplungen sei hier mal der Paul Kalkbrenner-Remix empfohlen …
PS: 36grad in der Variante von Rhythms del Mundo klettert auch nochmal etwas mehr als 20 Plätze auf die 71 – ob das allerdings wirklich mit der Albumveröffentlichung zusammenhängt oder einfach nur noch mal ein Urlaubs-Feeling-Aufbäumen ist … wer weiß …

Unter „ferner liefen“ können wir die Wiederbelebung der 90er durch Klaas meets Haddaway ablegen. Klaas, seines Zeichens DJ aus Köln, hat sich im letzten Jahr durch den Remix von Infinity für das Guru Josh Project einem breiteren Publikum bekannt gemacht. Nun hat er also genug Credibility, um als eigener Hauptact auf dem CD-Cover geführt zu werden. Und offensichtlich hat Klaas ein ziemliches Faible für 90er Eurotrash, denn der Griff zum Hit What Is Love ist für mich schon einigermaßen mutig. Haddaway, ein Sänger/Interpret aus Trinidad & Tobago hatte 1993 mit diesem Titel einen europaweiten Sommerhit. . In Deutschland belegte er damit zehn Wochen lang Platz 2, von der Spitze ferngehalten durch Ace Of Base mit All That She Wants und Snow mit Informer. Für Haddaway gab es im Jahr darauf noch einen Nachfolgehit mit dem Titel Life, den kennt heute aber fast niemand mehr, und genauso sieht es mit den anderen acht Titeln aus, die sich in den 90ern von ihm noch in den Charts platzieren konnten. 2003 gabs dann ein kleines Comeback für What Is Love, in der Reloaded-Version ging es dann immerhin noch bis zum Platz 51, Haddaway selber hatte wenig davon: sein Versuch über die unsägliche „Comeback“-Show einen Neustart seiner Karriere zu initiieren scheiterte kläglich.
Nun also ist sein größter Hit wieder zurück unter dem Titel What Is Love 2K9, in den Discotheken schlug der Titel mehr oder weniger ein, zumindest kam er in den Dance-Charts sogar bis auf Platz 1 – für mich ein wenig unerklärlich, warum eigentlich. OK, Klaas macht nichts anderes als bei Infinity auch, und das sind halt Zutaten, die zu jedem Dancefloor-Burner derzeit gehören, aber warum dazu diesen abgenudelten Hit verwenden. Das hätte es wirklich nicht gebraucht und wirkt auf mich eher uninspiriert. Mit Erscheinen der CD-Version kann sich der Titel dann auch nur auf Platz 80 einordnen ... in diesem Zusammenhang frage ich mich dann allerdings schon, wie der Track auf Platz 1 der Dance-Charts gekommen ist. 90er Euro-Disco braucht kein Comeback. Wirklich nicht.

Mit Haddaway könnten wir auch die Rubrik eröffnen: Evergreens – Moderne Klassiker. Und damit landen wir direkt bei Deichkind. Nach wie vor gibt es noch keine konkreten Infos, wie es mit dem Trio nach dem Tod von Produzent Sebastian Hackert im Februar nun wirklich weitergeht. Zumindest standen und stehen ein paar Festivalauftritte auf dem Plan. So waren sie Anfang August auf dem „Juicy Beats“ in Dortmund und kurz darauf auch beim „SonneMondSterne“. Für einige Festivalbesucher gehören Deichkind offensichtlich zu dem besten und wichtigsten, denn ihr Dauerbrenner Remmidemmi (Yippie Yippie Yeah) schafft mal wieder eine Platzierung in der Liste. Dieses Mal geht es auf die 93 ... und das ist die höchste Platzierung seit ziemlich genau einem Jahr.

Und auch Metallica landen mit Nothing Else Matters als Dauerklassiker noch einmal auf dem Platz 100. Für Statistiker: es ist die 51. Chartwoche für diese Version des Titels.

Unbedingt noch an dieser Stelle zu nennen sind Dúné aus Dänemark. Auf den Schulhöfen dieses Landes genießen sie seit ihrem Debüt im Jahr 2007 ziemlich großes Ansehen. Nun kündigen sie ein zweites Album mit dem Titel Enter Metropolis an. Die Single, welche Lust machen soll heißt Heat und im Prinzip hätte der Titel genug Kraft, um ordentlich einzuschlagen und zu einem echten Hit zu werden. Leider sind der Band (oder der Plattenfirma) irgendwie wohl die Hände gebunden ... oder sie haben sich bewusst entschieden ein Geheimtipp zu bleiben. Im Verkauf landen sie nach Veröffentlichung der Single lediglich auf Platz 94. Und das ist eindeutig zu wenig.

Und klar, eines der aktivsten Labels derzeit Zooland rec. hat auch mal wieder eine Veröffentlichung zu feiern. Die kommt (wie gewohnt) rein digital und stammt in dieser Woche von Rob & Chrs. Zumindest Rob alias Robin Brandes ist nicht unbekannt, als Rob Mayth hat er sich in der Dance-Szene schon ganz gut präsentiert. Und unter dem Pseudonym Dave Darell gehen bereits drei Charthits auf sein Konto. Nun also im Duo ein neuer Track: Superheld ist der Titel, sogar mit Text, geht ein bisschen in die Spaß-Ecke. Platz 95 gibt’s dafür.
