June 2nd 17: German Productions Are Approaching Top Positions

It is the sixth week at the top for Despacito by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee (feat. Justin Bieber). It is the 10th week inside the top 10.
Meanwhile Robin Schulz's new single OK (featuring James Blunt) goes 8–2. It is Schulz's first appearance close to the top since end of 2015 and only the third week in 2017 that a German production holds at runners up position. It is now more than a year back that there was a #1 hit from Germany.

Also the second new song inside the top 10 is a German production. In its third week on sale the new album by Helene Fischer re-occupies #1 position. Most successful song Herzbeben jumps up 17 ranks to #8 after she performed it on TV on the final of Germany's Next Top Model and as intermission act on the DFB cup final. On the latter occasion the singer was barracked by the 2.000 people in the stadium.
Herzbeben is the second top 10 entry for the ultimate Schlager star. Her Atemlos durch die Nacht spent astonishing 37 weeks inside the top 10 and ranks as the second longest top 10 runners of all times.

At #9 Kay One stops by. Louie Louie is a new rapped version of the Modern talking #1 hit from 1986. It is the third recording of the song and the second that reaches the top 10.

Jan 6th 17: First List–First Hits

The first #1 of the new year is the last #1 of the old year: Rockabye by Clean Bandit Feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie spends a third week at the German top which marks the 15th consecutive week a British act appears there. For featured artist Sean Paul it is now the longest running #1 hit he appears on as Cheap Thrills alongside SIA left the top after two weeks in April 2016.

Almost exactly a year after Alan Walker's first hit Faded charted for the very first time he can launch a second top 5 hit as Alone goes 8–4 in its fifth chart week.

The first new top 10 hit stops by at #6. Shed A Light is an all star collaboration by Robin Schulz & David Guetta Feat. Cheat Codes. For Robin Schulz this is a return to top 10 status after a year although it is his seventh within three years. David Guetta already has now 18 top 10 hits under his belt–Shed A Light being the third consecutive and it is one of two simultaneous hits as Would I Lie To You sits pretty at #8 still.

As all Christmas tunes leave the list this week we do have 20 songs that were not listed the week before. 18 of them re-appearing in the list–it is the highest amount since March 2010.

December 4th 15: Alligatoah & Last Christmas are Back

It is the sixth week at the top for Adele's Hello and the song now matches the result of Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do in February/March this year. That song made chart history as it was the most longest number 1 by a British female artist since 1967. Adele now is on the way of eclipsing that feat in next weeks time.

At #2 Glas-Perlen-Spiel spends an eighth week with Geiles Leben. It is now the longest holding #2 song since 2009 when Cassandra Steen feat. Adel Tawil managed same run with Stadt.

There are two songs new inside the top 10. First one lands at #9 in the face of Show Me Love which is the new single of Robin Schulz. Accompanied singer here is British J.U.D.G.E.. It is the fourth top 10 hit for Robin Schulz in 2015 alone which makes him the most successful act of the year.

The second is the highest new entry at all. Comedia Jan Böhmermann launched a song called Ich hab Polizei which became a viral success leading to the artist's very first chart entry at all. POL1Z1STENS0HN sits pretty at #10.

At #13 German band Silbermond gots his first top 20 hits since three years. Leichtes Gepäck truly got steam by the release of the band's same titled new album which lands at #4 on the album's list this current week. So far both album and single perform under what predecessors achieved.

Another German band project lands at #18 in the face of Annen May Kantereit. The three have their first hit with Oft gefragt. So there are eight German productions inside the top 20.

Finally Drake made it to top 20 status with Hotline Bling. It is only his first solo single performing that high. More than four years ago he peaked at #12 as featured artist on Rihanna's single What's My Name.
His entry to the top 20 gives Canadian acts a new hiatus: Right now there are six songs involving Canadians inside. An all time high. The highest one still is Justin Bieber at #4 with Sorry.

A further song rising up the list: The new song of Major Lazer Light It Up gains 29 places landing at #31 in its fourth chart week.

And yes, it is pre Christmas time. So there is the most popular Christmas carol back in the list Last Christmas by Wham!. It starts its 20th chart run at position #32 which is quite high. Only once, in December 2004 the song started its annual chart run higher. Back than it re-entered at #24 and peaking at #18 four weeks later.

The second modern Christmas classic comes from Mariah Carey. All I Want For Christmas Is You also re-enters unusually high at #45. The song never started its annual chart run that strong. Given that it made its all time peak this year in January at #17 perspectives are quite good that it will rise this season even further.

And down at #89 also Wonderful Dream (Holidays Are Coming) by Melanie Thornton is back. This song shows a typical performance so far.

The story of the week comes from German rapper alligatoah. His second album Musik ist keine Lösung missed the number 1 spot clearly due to Helene Fischer and Adele both strong selling their albums. Though the rapper can launch a bunch of single tracks inside the track charts. Leader of the pack is Denk an die Kinder that lands at #38 and now is the second highest performance of the rapper at all. Of course one might mention his appearance as a member of Trailerpark with whom he had some similar chart success too.
All in all there are seven album tracks charting the list. That feat is short behind Justin Bieber and Adele of the two past weeks.

alligatoah increases the number of German productions to 39 which is the highest number in years.

August 28th 15: Continuous Summer Laziness

It is still Robin Schulz who grabs the singles chart crown. Sugar feat. Francesco Yates holds firm for a third week at the top spot. Seems this one is the summer hit 2015 although it has some way to go for beating the early summer smash of Felix Jaehn Feat. Jasmine Thompson Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) that had an eight weeks #1 run.

A week before the release of its new album Beauty Behind The Madness Canadian The Weeknd reaches a new career peak inside the singles list by getting his Can't Feel My Face stopping at #16. With an eight places leap the singer gets his second top 20 hit. The first one Earned It stopped at position 17 earlier this year.

Youtube selfmade singer Joel Brandestein serves with Grenzenlos the highest new entry landing at #20. It is the first proper CD single release of the singer who started his career with cover versions of popular songs published at his channel. Last December he first gained chart success with Diese Liebe. The new song falls only two places short from the result nine months back, which prooves the ability of the net community to launch new stars besides of comedian acts like Y-Titty, ApeCrime or Die Lochis.

It is that arrival which makes German productions having a new presence inside the Top 20. 11 out of 20 coming from Germany, 8 of them are in German.

On #55 Roland Kaiser & Maite Kelly re-enter with their Warum hast du nicht nein gesagt. Since late January this year the song appears again and again for some single weeks on the list. This time it is the fourth entry caused by a bigger presence of Roland Kaiser over the past weeks. Beginning of August he staged four times(!) in Dresden at the Kaisermania concerts yearly celebrated there. More than 50.000 visitors live and 500.000 on TV followed the shows, Ten days ago his appearance on the criminal movie Summ Summ Summ was aired again, and of course the summer discofox fever is on its height right now – so Warum hast du nicht nein gesagt lands at its highest peak so far giving Roland Kaiser his biggest chart entry since 1988.

As we are on the field of schlager: Helene Fischer right now eclipses the record of UNHEILIG's Geboren um zu leben which was so far the single with the longest consecutive chart run of this current decade. Now Atemlos durch die Nacht joins it with 94 consecutive weeks. The song only has three weeks to go for becoming the longest consecutive running hit of all times as Heavy Cross by gossip holds this title since four years.

August 21st 15: Robin Schulz Beats Back

So the huge success of Sido feat. Andreas Bourani already stops after a single week. Astronaut slides one place losing to Sugar by Robin Schulz (feat. Francesco Yates) which returns to the very top for a second week.

A number 1 that is beaten by the track it dethroned ain't that unusual. Let's have a look back at March 2014 when Mr Probz lifted Pharrell Williams off the top position with Waves after he was first thrown off that spot by Lucky three weeks before. To tell the whole story I have to add: the track hustled off by Waves' first appearance at the top was .... well–Lucky.

With Namika's debut Lieblingsmensch rising one place to #3 the first three ranks are occupied by German productions. Two of them in German.

The only new arrival inside the Top 10 comes from USAmerican Walk The Moon. Shut Up + Dance lands at #10 and brings the US back to this area. Three weeks ago Parson James was last seen as artist coming from the US. The last proper US production inside the Top 10 was Lean On by Major Lazer X DJ Snake that appeared a month ago at #9.

This week there are only three new entries. The highest one comes in at #33. It is Adel Tawil's sequel of his 2013 #2 hit Lieder. In spring he featured by Deutsche Telekom called the audience for sending the most famous songs. The result is now part of Unsere Lieder. Seeing that hughely promoted campaign landing only at #33 is quite surprising. Obviously people don't care that much about copied ideas.

The one and only song re-entering the list is a movie score track that achieved #1 in late January this current year. Hanging Tree spent 31 weeks on the survey and left end of June. Now it is back due to its use as sound on Promi Big Brother which is on air since August 14th in its third season. For James Newton Howard it is a proper #71.

Three new songs and one re-entering means there are only four songs on the list that wasn't a week before. This is indeed the tiniest turnover of songs for years. So far we had some static weeks with six songs changing–in 2010, 11 and 15 that happened seven times.
Of course in over 60 years long chart history there were some similar feats already. As an example the first list in 1978 only saw two new entries and one reentry–of course that list only had 50 ranks. Well–the Top 50 of August 21st 2015 does have only three new songs inside the Top 50, two new and one reentry. :-)

August 7th 15: Robin Schulz gets a third #1

This is my 400th post on this blog. Meaning almost exactly eight years ago I started watching the German singles charts and analyzing movers toppers long runners and so on. The blog itself changed several times–as this column was visited much more from English or Russian speaking countries I changed the language. The stories I tell also differs a lot between 2008 and now. Well–thank you for joining me and leaving your comments. A few days ago my facebook page Pop.Schredder also started. Hope you will be there as well.

Back to the charts:
First #1 as main artist, second as properly featured artist, third #1 as producer/mixer. Additionally two top 10 hits as main act one of them peaking at #2 and a further remix of an existing hit charting as extra entry and peaking at #35. That's the result so far for one and a half year of chart career. The act in question is young German DJ / producer Robin Schulz who is hard on the way of becoming the best seling German act of this decade. Depending on which statistic you trust more he already is as popular and successful as rapper CRO who started two years earlier. At least in terms of single hits he really comes close to the level of CRO.

What is different to the rapper is the international attention Robin Schulz gets. After "discovering" British singer Jasmine Thompson for the European area and featuring USAmerican songwriter Ilsey Juber it is now very young Canadian Francesco Yates who becomes known to a broader European audience due to its appearance on new no.1 single Sugar. The singer is the first Canadian occupying the top spot since Nelly Furtado in early 2009.

Rising two further places MoTrip feat. Lary stops at #3 with So wie du bist. Another hip hop act stops at #6.Namika enters the top 10 with her debut single Lieblingsmensch in its fourth chart week. The album Nador started a week ago at #13 and now slides to #17, the single still gains more airplay and so it does on the singles list.

Kind of a surprise takes place at #10. Four years after its forming on X Factor Britain boy group One Direction becomes a top 10 act with its single Drag Me Down. It is the 14th proper chart entry in Germany. So far they only once sneaked into the top 20 in August 2013 with Best Song Ever. The career looks quite unusual. Ending as third on the casting show they immediately became stars in their home countries Ireland and Britain. Four resp. three #1 aingle hits plus same amount on the albums list make the band an impressive evident of how the boy group formula still works in the 2010s. Even the USAmerican market celebrates the boys. In Germany they are a phenomenon not very recognized by the mainstream so far. With the first proper hit single and a new album it might change. So One Direction is also an example how careers change in times of social media–even on the highly planned casting market.

The pure social media stars themselves get much more attention on mainstream but the commercial success on the sales charts still is not that big. At least duo Die Lochis has its highest chart entry this week with Ab geht's starting at #29. So far all hits of the duo disappeared latest after two weeks on the survey.

Tracks rising
How Deep Is Your Love by Calvin Harris + Disciples 22–17 in its third chart week
Sun Is Shining by Axwell Ingrosso 99–51 in its second week

On #97 there is a song entering the list that is 16 years old. Learn To Fly by the Foo Fighters was the most successful single of the band on the US billboard charts. In Europe there were other songs having the sympathy and love of the music buyers. Well–due to an action initiated by an Italian musician the song now charts for the very first time in Germany. The version of Rockin' 1000 Italian musicians quite is as much good as the original and worth of getting an chart entry. So far only the Foo Fighters version had that chance.
Finally here it is what the action was about: To please the band for a concert in Cesena, Italy. Can someone stand such a strong performance?

All in all there are nine tracks entering the list for the very first time. This is a very median figure. More unusual is the fact we have no re-entry. In 2015 this happened only once before on February 27th. In 2014 there were only two weeks too: May 16th and May 23rd.

April 17th 15: Record Breaking Jump To No 1

As the German charts appear weekly since 1971 one might assume that everything has been seen. It isn't like that. Times change and so do the charts and movements inside. This week we witness a record breaking jump to number 1. Of course the biggest jump to the top is the one from outside the list. Before the late 90s that feat wasn't seen on the list. Nowadays it is kind of common having songs start their chart life directly at the Top. So far there were 103 songs doing so.
Most of songs of course reach the top from inside the charts. Mostly it happens with a rise from inside the Top 5. This week we see See You Again by Wiz Khalifa Feat. Charlie Puth storming to Top in its fifth week coming from number 39 which breaks the record setting feat of the Pet Shop Boys in July 1987. Back then the duo had its heydays bringing new releases to its peak very fast. It's A Sin started by going 26–1 in 1987 followed by Always On My Mind with a 20–1 jump in January 1988 and Heart in April same year going 17–1. Only YMCA by the Village People and Pump ab das Bier by Werner Wichtig managed to hold tight with that feat. The first one shot 24–1 in December 1978 the latter one 18–1 in February 1990.

The new record comes due to the arrival of Furious 7 in cinemas on April 2nd. See You Again features as the closing song referring to the death of actor Paul Walker. As the movie still leads the box list it is certain seeing the song on Top next week too.

Another trivia can be told: See You Again is the third movie related number 1 in 2015.

Talkin' 'bout the impact of Furious 7 also six other songs taken–four of them originally taken from the Soundtrack–perform well as there are:
Ride Out by Kid Ink, Tyga, Wale, Rich Homie Quan 45–21–all four artists involved reach a new career peak
G.D.F.R. by Flo Rida Featuring Sage The Gemini and Lookas 38–25 in its 18th chart week
Go Hard Or Go Home by Wiz Khalifa & Iggy Azalea 98–47
How Bad Do You Want It (Oh Yeah) by Sevyn Streeter new at number 67–first charting single of the American singer.
Get Low by Dillon Francis / DJ Snake new at number 79
Turn Down For What by DJ SNake and Lil Jon re-entering at number 84 adding a 41st chart week–the song appeared first time in the survey exactly one year ago

Robin Schulz delivers the highest new entry at #7 with Headlights (feat. Ilsey). The singer is known so far as song writer for Pitbull and JLO. Headlights is the second Top10 hit in 2015 for the German superstar DJ and fourth since the beginning of his chart career almost exactly a year ago.

At number 11 second German superstar DJ is launching a follow up to his debut. Felix Jaehn sits still pretty at number 3 with his remix of OMI's Cheerleader while Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) (feat. Jasmine Thompson) enters the list. It is this a cover version of a song originally recorded by Rufus & Chaka Khan in 1983. The original never got chart success but since than the song entered in six different versions peaking at number 8 in 1989 in a remix version of the original. The take by Felix Jaehn now is the second most successful.

DSDS effects
The 12th season of Deutschladn sucht den Superstars is on air with recalls and re-recalls. One first hiatus was the performance of Severino Seeger, Antonio Gerardi, Christoph Cronauer and Kevin Spatt who performed Caruso on April 8th 2015. The song was recorded originally by Italian Lucio Dalla in 1986 but became mostly popular in 2012 after the singer died. Than it reached number 2 in Italy and got certain attention by participants on casting show contestants. In Germany popularity rose due to schlager star Helene Fischer who recorded a cover version on her 2014 album Farbenspiel- live.
After it was performed on TV the song enters the charts for the very first time at number 61. It is only the second chart entry for the Italian singer–17 years after his debut appearance–and it is a new career peak.

2014 - A French Year

Most successfull number 1 act in 2014 was David Guetta feat. Sam Martin with two number 1 hits (lovers on the sun and Dangerous) and 11 weeks spending there.

Three other artists managed to have two number 1 hits in 2014:
- Robin Schulz (officially credited on Prayer in C (5 weeks) and as a remixer on Waves (4 weeks)
- CRO with Traum (4 weeks) and as part of Band Aid 30 (2 weeks)
- Andreas Bourani as solo artist with Auf uns (2 weeks) and also as part of the charity Band Aid 30 project

David Guetta is one of three French acts that topped the German list in 2014. Lily Wood & The Prick (with help by Robin Schulz) and The Avener (Fade Out Lines 1 week) did also. All in all the German top was invaded by a French act for 20 weeks in 2014. Never before in chart history the neighbour country had such a strong appearance inside the German list.

26th of Dec. 2014: Last chart list of the year

Dangerous holds firm at the Top for a fourth week (a second in a row) and finally makes David Guetta feat. Sam Martin the act with most number 1 weeks in 2014. Having two proper number 1 singles the duo is far and away the best performing number 1 act. But in 2014 there were some other acts that come close to this feat. First of all newcomer Robin Schulz has to be counted as the closest combatant by serving as one main act on Prayer in C and remixing Waves by Mr Probz which later was officially credited to him also.

Significant moves:
Hozier lands at number 2 with Take Me To Church after he performed the song on the final show of The Voice of Germany together with Charley Ann Schmutzler on 19th December 2014. The later winner of the show herself can climb 26 places to number 3 with Blue Heart. Winner 2013 Andreas Kümmert was able to reach number 2 at the back end of 2013.
Also Ed Sheeran profits from his performance on the show. Thinking Out Loud goes 12–6 and now is his third Top10 hit in 2014. So Ed Sheeran now eclipses the result of Swedish AVICII who so far was the artist with most different songs inside the German Top 10.

Highest new entry comes from Italian Frei.Wild. Wir brechen Eure Seelen (weil Ihr gerne Kriege führt) is the first official single where the band dissociates from neo nazi movement. The song lands at number 8.

On number 18 the first serious German singer-songwriter started on the internet can launch his first hit. Joel Brandenstein is very different to comedian projects like Die Lochis, Y-Titty or Apecrime. His Diese Liebe serves as his first commercial release and brings him a straight Top20 hit.

Additionally Nico Suave Feat. Xavier Naidoo enter the list with Danke at number 20. So the three highest new entries are in German which sets the number of songs in German inside the Top20 at seven–a feat not seen since April 2012. The number of German productions inside the Top20 is 8–the best result for whole 2014 and doubling the result of the last charts issue of 2013.

At number 34 a classic tune gets a new peak. Hallelujah originally written and performed by Canadian Leonard Cohen in the 80s became famous the past 20 years but first charted in December 2012 in the version of Jeff Buckley. It got its peak a few weeks later at number 38. On December 16th Xavier Naidoo performed the song on Sing meinen Song - Das Weihnachtskonzert. Now his version rises 61 places which is the best move of the week and eclipses the old peak.

And another benchmark is set in this last issue of the year 2014. German schlager singer HEINO is back with a collection of hard rock versions of his former hits. It misses the Top10 of the album list by entering at number 11. Anyway the lead song Schwarz blüht der Enzian a re-recording of his biggest hit released in 1972 can enter the singles list at number 84. Covering a span of over 42 years it is the eldest composition that appears in 2014 inside the list. So far it was We Are The Champions by Queen that made it into the charts again in late July after the German team won the FIFA world championship. The first appearance of that song dates back to 1977.
Back to Heino again: Appearing inside the current list his chart career now spans an impressive 47 years. Of course in 2014 he was the artist with the longest history beating the 44 years that Peter Maffay collects right now. 47 years–that's also the 7th longest chart career of all times. Heino now has only six more years to go to beat the record set by Paul Kuhn in August 2008. But well–a look into the future tells you: Next week we will embrace the back catalogue of Udo Jürgens for sure which pushes the record of the longest chart career even further to 57 years.

7th of Nov 2014:

It is still Meghan Trainor who occupies the number 1 slot with her extremely well performing All About That Bass. The song is worldwide the most selling in this moment. In the US and in Britain it just passed the hiatus now slightly fading down. But in the German speaking countries the song still is unbeatable.

Spending a fifth week at the Top makes Meghan Trainer the first USAmerican solo female since 2009 who can hold such a strong success over at least five weeks. From March to April 2009 it was Lady Gaga with her Poker Face that was the top selling single for 11 consecutive weeks (adding further two weeks after a 3 weeks breaks).
The male statistic looks less impressive. Pharrell Williams still is the one who overturns the actual success with his Happy. That song collected eight number 1 weeks at the beginning of 2014–six of them in a row.

Sun Goes Down by Robin Schulz feat. Jasmine Thompson rises two further places stopping now at number 2. It is the third big hit for the DJ in 2014 alone. And if it will take the last step to number 1 Robin Schulz will become one of only eight acts that managed having three top hits in one calendar year. But let's wait ...

Finally Andreas Bourani released a predecessor of his number 1 single Auf uns. The song is taken from his album Hey as well and is called Auf anderen Wegen. The week it was released on CD the song can jump 25 places to number 8 giving the singer his second Top 10 hit at all.

In its 22nd chart week Chandelier by SIA takes a 19–10 leap inside the Top10. Is this connected to the Jim Carrey-Iggy Azalea-Kate McKinnon parody on Saturday Night Live which spread around as a video take out?
Anyway it is the fourth Top 10 appearance for the singer but the first as an solo artist.
Having Geronimo by Sheppard still at number 3 there are two Australian acts simultaneously inside the Top 10. Last time we had that situation was back in March 2012 when Gotye still clang on with his number 1 hit Somebody That I Used To Know and SIA accompanied Flo Rida on his Wild Ones.

Also ANIMALS by MAROON 5 takes a 10 place leap landing at number 13 this week. It is the seventh chart week for the song and the first inside the Top 20.

Fritz Kalkbrenner probably is one of the most successful German electro producers which never lost the connection to independent club culture. Now he becomes a bit more a mainstream act as his album Ways Over Water entered the album list at number 6 last week and the single Back Home rises to number 20 this week. It is his first appearance inside the mainstream singles Top 20. So far only Get A Life approached the Top 20 stopping at number 22 in October 2012. Sky And Sand (in collaboration with his brother Paul Kalkbrenner) stopped at number 29 in late 2011.

As these days some tracks reach their peak after a long time on the survey it is no wonder we also witness the longest run to peak. It is Habits also known as Stay High by Swedish Tove Lo that stops at number 23 in its 24th chart week. In May this year already London Grammar peaked with Strong in its 24th chart week at number 28.
To find a track that took longer it is necessary to llok back only til May 2012. Than it was Ma chérie by DJ Antoine peaking at number 6 in its 29th chart week.

18th of July 2014: Is Robin Schulz the artist of the year?

A fifth week at the top makes Prayer in C the second longest running number 1 of 2014 so far. Only Happy by Pharrell Williams performed better with eight weeks at the top.
If one count the remix of Mr Probz' Waves as a full and regular Robin Schulz entry than he is the most successful artist of the year by now collecting nine weeks at the top so far.

As the number 1 also the rest of the Top 10 is almost frozen. OneRepublic manages to climb a further place to number 3 with its Love Runs Out and Helene Fischer now spends a 29th week inside the Top 10 with her Atemlos durch die Nacht. It now matches the result of Butterfly by Daniel Gerard (1970) and A Song Of Joy by Miguel Rios (1971) which are so far the two songs with the second longest Top 10 appearance. The absolut record still stands at unbelievable 42 weeks for Ein Stern (der deinen Namen trägt) by DJ Ötzi & Nik P. from the year 2007.

The only song new inside the Top 10 comes from British Drum'n'Bass act SIGMA that vaults four places to number 8 with their production Nobody To Love

One of the very rare significantly moving tracks is Chandelier the very first solo single charting in Germany by SIA. The track so far sneaked through the lowest ends of the list for five weeks reaching only position 81. Now with the full released album 1000 Forms Of Fear in the back the single can leap to number 44. In France the song right now reached number 1.

The second significant mover is Zuhause by Adel Tawil Featuring Matisyahu. The track was released on the album Lieder and supported as a single track by special versions performed on SWR radio. Just before every match of the German team at the FIFA WM Adel Tawil changed the lyrics and recorded the track newly. The song now jumps 96–50.

Due to the WM also the inofficial anthem of the Bundesliga (and following EM) of 2012 re-enters the list. Tage wie diese by Die Toten Hosen adds a 83rd chart week at number 81.

11th of July 2014:

It is the fourth week at the top for Lilly Wood & The Prick and Robin Schulz and their Prayer in C. Following the four weeks run of Traum by CRO we have a situation last seen in spring 2010 when also two German productions held each for four consecutive weeks the pole position. The acts in question back than were Lena and Mehrzad Marashi–the latter one already is forgotten for a longer time.

After six weeks outside the Top 10 and dipping as low as number 21 Calm After The Storm by The Common Linnets rebounces to number 10. The runners up winner of the Eurovision Song Contest still has big popularity on German radio stations which makes the song a real hit. The winning song Rise Like A Phoenix by Conchita Wurst already left the list three weeks ago.

Calm After The Storm is the one and only song not invading the last Top 10 also. Additionally six out of the ten exactly hold the place from last week. It is a very calm week in chart terms.
The first really rising song is Nobody To Love by British Sigma which can vault 10 places to number 12.

27th of June 2014:

It is the second week at the top for Lilly Wood & The Prick And Robin Schulz and their Prayer in C. Also in Austria and Switzerland the track holds the top position. In France it starts catching fire by entering the charts at number 65.

At number 2 king soccer rules. Andreas Bourani's number 1 song Auf uns at the moment is heavily used as the anthem for the WM coverage by public TV. So it goes 4–2 and one can make its bets whether it will go number 1 again.
The song used by the second public TV also can gain some more attention. Love Runs Out by OneRepublic goes 8–5 and gives the band its third Top 5 hit in this current decade.

New inside the Top10 is Jason Derulo Featuring Snoop Dogg with Wiggle at number 7.

Spending a 26th week inside the Top 10 Helene Fischer's Atemlos durch die Nacht now eclipses the result of On The Floor by JLO feat. Pitbull and becomes the single holding the longest time there in this current decade. On the all time survey it ranks now at number 10 right behind the likes of Heavy Cross by Gossip (2009/10) and Sun Of Jamaica by The Goombay Dance Band (1979/80).

20th of June 2014: Robin Schulz launches the summer hit

After four weeks there is a new number one in Germany. A straight one. Again. Prayer in C is the fourth song starting its chart run direct at the Top–a feat last seen in autumn 2011.
The artist in question already had a number 1 this current year: Robin Schulz the DJ and producer right now starts becoming a superstar. His remix of a song originally recorded by French Lilly Wood & The Prick continues his remix of Mr Probz' Waves–a next deep house no.1.

With Robin Schulz at the Top German productions are most successful in 2014. It is the third song officially credited to a German artist but the fifth if one count the men behind the scenes. Compared to other years the result now matches 2012 when there were three German number 1s too but falls short of 2009 when we had four proper no.1 hits credited to German artists plus one which was penned and produced by two Germans.
For France it is the first time since 2000 that French artists/productions can climb to number 1 in Germany two years in a row.

This chart issue covers sales from 6th of June to 12th of June. It is the week when the FIFA WM started. The big anticipation can be seen as the football anthems start to perform stronger inside the list. Best performing We Are One by Pitbull Feat. Jennifer Lopez & Cláudia Leitte lands at number 7 now.
With a full CD release behind also Stefan Raab sees his song Wir kommen, um ihn zu holen flying to number 43.

With a new released version–a duet with country singer Jennifer NettlesAll Of Me by John Legend reaches a new peak. The track goes 23–18 in its 18th chart week. Anyway it is a weak performance compared to the number 1 positions the track achieved all over the world.

Every week a TV story: it is Verstehen Sie Spass that can support a song with a broad airing presence on Saturday 7th of June. Rea Garvey staged with Can't Say No and gives the single a final sales boost: 20 places better than last week means number 50.
