Nov 3rd 17: Fourth Week For BAUSA
The midweek charts had detect a strong challenger for the #1 slot as Perfect by Ed Sheeran reached #2. Later this week the song got a stronger weakness sitting now pretty at #5 again and giving way to Was du Liebe nennst by BAUSA spending a fourth week at the top spot. At runners up position now Camila Cabello ranks with her ode to Havana which is far and away the best appearance she ever claimed.There is no new entry to the top 10 but two songs re-entering. The higher one at #9 is New Rules by Dua Lipa which gains a new peak in its 14th chart week. So far the song has occupied #10 for three weeks than dropping out for a full month and now rising 12–9 again. New Rules now matches the result of predecessor and so far biggest hit Scared To Be Lonely alongside Martin Garrix.
Second top10 re-entry is Mi Gente by J balvin & Willy William going 11–10 after a single week outside. It is the 13th top10 week which makes the song one of the nine longest running top10 hits in 2017.
Highest new entry comes from Selena Gomez X Marshmello. Wolveslands at #14 in its first chart week. It is Selena Gomez' fourth hit in 2017. Marshmello right now has another hit Silence sitting pretty at #7.
The Imagine Dragons launch a second top20 hit this year with Whatever It Takes going 29-15. Meanwhile Thunder fades slowly to #20.
Also Norwegian DJ Kygo gets a second top20 hit in 2017 with Stargazing taking five places up to #18. It is already chart week no. six for that song.
At #19 What Lovers Do by Maroon 5 Feat. SZA goes. It is the first top20 appearance for the band since three years.
Watching the top 20 one can witness a strong presence of artists from the US. Between #11 and #20 there are nine songs involving US artists–eight songs are from US acts alone. It is this a very strong return as three years ago there were weeks with only two or even one top20 song involving stars from the US.
Worth mentioning:
Sunrise Ave's Help You Hate Me slowly catches fire as it goes 61–43 in its sixth chart week. Times when the band invaded top10 status easily seem long ago.
Kogong is the newest offering by Mark Forster who re-released his album TAPE enriched with that song. In its third chart week Kogong goes 78–53.
A 87–68 jump is taken by Charlie Puth with his song How Long.
Hulapalu by Andreas Gabalier spends a 85th week inside the top100. It now is the 15th highest result of chart weeks of all times. Well–the best performing single still is Sky And Sand by Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner that collected 129 non consecutive chart weeks.
June 23rd 17: Nimo Outsells KC Rebell & Summer Cem
This is the ninth week of Despacito by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee leading the German charts. In other years this would be a certain sign for a song becoming the hit of the year. In 2017 there was another hit already running 15 weeks on the top–do you remember Shape Of You? The song still ranks pretty at #9 in its 24th week. Meaning 2017 probably will got only a few #1 hits but the race of which one will be the best sold gets still unsolved. By rising to #3 with Thunder the Imagine Dragons reach a new chart peak. So far their second chart entry Radioactive peaking at #4 for two weeks in 2013 was their biggest hit. Now their books has to be written newly. It is the eighth chart week for the song.
At #5 the new single by DJ Khaled enters as the highest new song this week. Wild Thoughts features Rihanna & Bryson Tiller. The Barbadian singer now gains her 25th top 10 hit and her 19th inside the top 5–as much as Depeche Mode collected in its whole carreer but one short of Madonna. With 208 top 10 weeks she is far and away the most successful artist who still is recording songs.
Every week there is a new German rap album on release. This week there are two storming into the top 5. At #5 Nimo stands with KiKi his second proper release. On the song list he beats everyone out by seeing his Heute mit mir flying 22–10. It is the best selling German rap track this week making him one of still a few rap acts that can achieve proper single hits. Six further tracks plus the collaboration with Capo also invading the list.
The number 1 album comes from KC Rebell x Summer Cem. Maximum also serves with some single hits. Best of all pre-released track Murcielago performs by jumping again 41–26. All in all the duo got nine tracks into the list.
How fragile this success is might be seen by having a look at Bushido. Only five out of the 14 tracks from past weeks invasion are able to spend a second week inside the list best performing still Papa tumbling 20–32.
June 9th 17: Thunder
Did anyone expect Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee (feat. Justin Bieber) spending a seventh week at #1 with Despacito? Well it is this reality this current week. By doing so both main artists now are the Puerto Ricans spending longest time at #1 in Germany. So far it was the honor for Ricky Martin who had his soccer anthem The Cup Of Life/La Copa vida spending six weeks at the top spot in summer 1998. Incidentally 1998 also is the year when the change of #1 went on as slow as this current year–remember Despacito still only is the third #1 hit in 2017.Longest running top 10 hit Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran returns to #3 in its 22nd chart week. It is now the fifth longest top 10 inhabitant of this decade–on the all time statistic the song of course is scheduled outside the 20 longest running top 10 hits.
Highest new arrival in the top 10 is the new single by Imagine Dragons. Thunder is the second teaser single for their new album Evolve scheduled for end of June. First single Believer sadly stopped at #24 at the beginning of the year. Now the band is back to what they might be. It is the third top 10 single for them following the Suicide Squad collaboration Sucker For Pain which made it to #8 in summer past year.

Sliding one place AVICII is no longer the champion of the charts. Instead his album True enters the album list at number 5 and propels five tracks into the singles list. There are Wake me up! at number 2, Hey Brother new at number 24, You Make Me rising 49–40, Addicted To You new at number 71 and LE7ELS re-entering at number 88. The Swedish DJ is only the third act invading the survey with five tracks simultanously. Before that feat were done only by CRO and will.i.am.

Now with digital release of teasing single God Is Dead for the next album 13 the band gets a second chart entry in Germany. The song lands at number 99–not much but after 42 years the band technically gets status as a two hit act. Plus it narrowly misses the record for being the longest absent act of the singles charts. Only Paul Kuhn has had a longer break outside: 43 an a half year.

It replaces Let Her Go after five weeks which slides to number 2. Just Give Me A Reason is the third number 1 hit for P!NK. It follows the Lady Marmalade anthem from 2001 and the single So What that throned at the top for three weeks in 2008. Statistical trivia at the side: P!NK already is the second artist achieving a third number 1 hit in 2013. Back in January it was Britney Spears doing so by throwing Scream & Shout onto the top. As you remember also that song was a duet.

Here the proper release of the single is scheduled for May 3rd–two weeks before it can enter the charts as a download track. Watching the forums about the show one should recognize that this track is one of the most wanted of the show at all. Similarities to Jungle Drum–which made Emiliana Torrini a star four years ago–ain’t probably a coincidence.
Further down the list Lindsey Stirling re-enters with Crystallize and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs once again sneak in with Heads Will Roll–a four years old track that became a hit thanks to the model casting on TV.
And also The voice Kids generates demand for some songs again. This time Va Va Voom by Nicki Minaj is the lucky one that re-enters the highest at number 41. Juryman Tim Bendzko also profits from the presence on TV. His Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären re-enters the list and ends a seven months long abstinence from the charts.

Yes, it is the fourth week on Top for Passenger and his Let Her Go. German music buyers love romantic sound. The last time a British act had four weeks at the German top is back in autumn 2011 when Calvin Harris turned Rihanna’s We Found Love into a dance track. Of course–that was not a pure British production and the four weeks were collected over a six weeks span. Well, the real British number 1 track occupying the top spot at least four weeks had its run just before Calvin Harris stormed to number 1. The one I’m talking about is Marlon Roudette. His New Age held eight weeks at the top in September and October 2011. The sound of this huge hit is almost the same as Let Her Go. So probably we will have the new song for some more weeks sitting pretty at number 1.
The only new one inside the Top 10 is Taylor Swift whose I Knew You Were Trouble dips in for the first time at number 10. It is the very first top 10 entry for the artist at all. - With this again the 10 best sold songs are mainly coming from the US (7). There are only three tracks coming from the UK and one from Germany. The big variety of productions from very different areas of this world is definitely gone.
