Axwell /\ Ingrosso hold firm at #1 for a second week.
At #4 Taylor Swift lands her new offering Look What You Made Me Do. It is her fifth top 10 appearance at all and the second this year following the duet I Don't Wanna Live Forever which peaked #2 earlier this year. Look What You Made Me Do is Taylor Swift's highest performing solo single so far.
Most present artist is Austrian rapper RAF Camora who launched his album Anthrazit at #1 on the album list and sees 14 of the 17 songs enter the list. Additionally two elder hits are in the list so he pushes the presence of Austrian artists inside the German charts in one single week to a new height of 16. It also turns the result of productions featuring Germans (37) and tracks in German (38) to a rare proportion.
With Michael Patrick Kelly getting the title song of his album iD into the charts at #100 the singer ends an 14 years long abstinence from the list. Of course after his first two solo hits in 1993 he appeared chartwise as a member of the Kelly Family for one year more. The very first chart entry with the family came back 23 years ago in October 1994–the family already had a hit in 1980 when Paddy only was three years old.

June 10th 16: KUnGS goes #1
With KUnGS entering the top there ends a one and a half year abstinence of French acts at the German top. Back in 2014 astonishing four french productions reached the top. The Australian band is already the second act from the island continent this year. Back in 2010 two Australian acts topped the charts in one calendar year in the face of Empire Of The Sun and Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP.
Australian predecessor SIA by the way sits pretty at #4 with Cheap Thrills which gives us a situation with the four top ranks are occupied by #1 hits.
Two songs enter the top 10 for the first time. At #7 Alle Farben feat. YOUNOTUS stands coming from #16. Please Tell Rosie already is the third consecutive top 10 hit for Alle Farben–well there is a next German DJ on the way of becoming a beloved producer. This week he grabs the crown of being the best selling German act of the week outselling the highest new entry by one place.
At #8 German hiphop trio Beginner is back after more than 11 years. With Ahnma the trio has its first top10 hit waiting for it more than 17 years. Member Jan Delay already has some experience as solo artist plus a #1 appearance as part of the German Ban Aid at the end of 2014. Featured artist Gzuuz past week had his big breakthrough. His 10th entry is his highest chart appearance for now.
Of course the official EURO2016 anthem This One's For You by David Guetta Feat. Zara Larsson starts rising steadily. It reaches #19 this issue.
Highest gainer of the week is Don't Be So Shy by Imany. The song jumps 32 places to #31. 21 places up is the result for Holland by 257ers. The song stops at #46. Breathe by seeb feat. Neev takes an 18 places leap to #58 and at #75 EGO by Willy William lands after an 24 places leap.
New inside the German charts Austrian no.1 song Sound Of Silence by Disturbed is. Here it starts at #82 and probably will rise the next weeks.
Again the list contains only 14 productions including British acts. It is indeed a weak presence which might be hardly found in whole history of pop music.
Jan 15th 16: Catch & Release goes #1
Well it is kind of surprising: Adele's Hello looses steam and gives way for anothe #1. The surprise of course is the fact that the new #1 is a song even longer sneaking through the list. The deep house remix of Catch & Release recorded originally by Matt Simons and reworked by Dutch Deepend already spends its 13th week inside the survey. Well–that's quite a relaxed rise.Catch & Release is the first number one involving a USAmerican since May past year when Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth clocked up there. It is no secret telling you Matt Simons alone never had a chance to get there. So at least 50% (or even more) of the succeess belongs Dutch project deepend. It is this the third consecutive calendar year with having a Dutch act topping the German list. As far as I can oversee the whole history of German charts it never happened before.
Still on the way up Shawn Mendes is. Stitches gains another place stopping now at #3 in its 15th chart week. The singer now matches the peak of country fellow Justin Bieber. Will the new idol go further? Or will he get overturned by EFF that sees its Stimme rising two places to #4. By the way #4 is the worst performance for the best selling German production since May 1st past year.
And also Major Lazer Feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG still move upwards with Light It Up. The track goes #5 in its 9th chart week.
The first real new song comes in at #11. And it is one that for sure will dog us the next months. Do you know what is the most sold German schlager of all times? Not Atemlos durch die Nacht–that one serves as one of three second best sold songs. The most sold German song of all times still is Ein Stern (der deinen Namen trägt) by DJ Ötzi & Nik P. from 2007. And exactly that duo did it again in 2016. Their new single calls Geboren um dich zu lieben and starts chart short of the top 10. Since 2008 both didn't appear that high–I guess this part of history will be written newly in a few days.
For nerds of statistics. The new single is DJ Ötzi's 30th chart single and the third week in a row that the highest new entry comes from Austria.
The strong start of the song comes due to Florian Silbereisen's TV Show Das große Fest der Besten–another Schlager event on public mainstream TV. The airing also propels other classics up the charts as Roland Kaiser & Maite Kelly and their Warum hast du nicht nein gesagt. It is the fifth time the song sneaks in the survey and slowly it becomes a sure party hit.
New inside the list the showmaster himself now is. With trio KLUBBB3 Florian Silbereisen has its very first chart entry at #87. For a TV superstar that result seems kind of annoying.
The news of the week in music business of course was the death of David Bowie. The incident generates some chart entries–even some of his most significant songs can get attention like never before. I am talking for example about Heroes. Recorded in 1977 it had some medium chart success in Britain and some European countries–except Germany. Here the song charted for the very first time in a cover version by the team of The Voice of Germny in 2011. Back than it peaked at #76.
Now the original has its first chart appearance and lands at an impressive #19–which also his the first top 20 appearance of David Bowie since 1986 when Underground had a short sneak in.
Also Space Oddity has its first chart appearance this current week. The song lands at #40 47 years after it was first released.
Jan 8th 16: Hello is best performing #1 since 2009
It is the 11th consecutive week for Hello at #1. So it is the best performing single since Israel Iz Kamakawiwo'ole's recording of Somewhere Over The Rainbow that spent 12 weeks at the top at th end of 2010. As this run was interrupted by We Are The People (Empire of the Sun) it only had a consecutive 10 weeks run plus an two weeks return. So actually it is the 11 weeks run of Lady Gaga's Poker Face from Mid-March to end of May 2009 that is the latest #1 performed like Hello right now does.
Sticking at the top makes Adele the second best performing female of this recent decade with 14 weeks at #1. Only Rihanna so far spent more weeks at #1–in numbers: 16.
At #4 Canadian Shawn Mendes now dethrones Justin Bieber as best performing Canadian. Stitches gets its peak so far in its 14th chart week. Still there are three songs by Canadian acts inside the Top 10 and six inside the top 20. Watching the whole top 100 we find 11 songs featuring Canadians–two months ago there were 15.
Will 2016 become the year of Austrian music? Again the highest new entry is Austrian. It is duo Seiler & Speer that starts its chart career with Ham kummst at #52. Last weeks highest new entry Hulapalu by Andreas Gabalier tumbles down to #88. In 2014 there were weeks when six Austrian songs simultaneously invaded the German list.
With two new songs and three re-entries this week is one with the least exchange of songs. Twice in the past year there were only four songs new inside the list.

23rd of May 2014: Third Nr.1 new entry / first Eurovision effects / King Kollegah
Chart history is written these days. A third consecutive week a completely new song storms the top of the singles charts in Germany. That is really something that never happened before. By the way these three number 1s are all produced by Germans. Alone that feat–three consecutive number 1 songs coming from Germany–was last seen seven years ago. It is a historic moment this week.
The song in question is Traum the new singly by German rapper CRO. The track announces his upcoming album Melodie that will follow in June. The single so far was scheduled for a release on 30th of May. The huge success on airplay made the record company prepone the release date. Immediately the song goes number 1 having the best digital sales start since three years. It is CRO’s second number 1 and indeed the second song that starts straight at the top position.
The Eurovision Song Contest shows its impact. Calm After The Storm by Dutch The Common Linnets enters the German charts at number 3. It is already now the best performing Eurovision runner’s up since 1969 when Cliff Richard’s Congratulations missed the trophy but performed very well on sale.
Winner Conchita Wurst from Austria and her song Rise Like A Phoenix enter the list at number 5. It matches last year’s winner Like A Teardrop by Emmeli de Forest and indeed is the best performing song coming from Austria since Klangkarussell’s Sonnentanz hit number 4 in November 2012.
All in all there are 12 songs from the contest entering the charts. It matches the result of last year's issue which was far and away the most influencing contest of all times.
Best sold album comes from German rapper Kollegah. As since January also streamings are eligible the new king of rap can set 18 different tracks into the current list. This is a feat only once beaten. In 2009 after the dead of Michael Jackson the star had more than 20 songs inside the list for three weeks. The peak was an unbelievable 24 songs.
Counting Eurovision and Kollegah's album tracks together this current weeks sees 35 completely new tracks entering the list. It is another new record for the German charts set up in this historical week.

16th of May 2014: Superstar No. 11
After half a year of slow rising no.1 hits and finally a four months period of lasting no.1s the picture now changes completely. Last week the number 1 was a straight new entry–this week it is a straight new entry too. A situation last seen in February 2007 when Lied 1 - Stück vom Himmel by Herbert Grönemeyer replaced in its first chart week Übers Ende der Welt by Tokio Hotel that shot to number 1 a week before.
The act in question now is the winner of latest DSDS season Aneta Sablik. Her winning title The One is a eurodance track topping the charts in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It is the first number 1 hit recorded by an artist with Polish origin.
Still on the rise George Ezra enters the Top3 for the first time with his song Budapest. The artist is the sixth newcomer this year that manages that feat. (Aneta Sablik was the fifth.) The song already collected its 11th chart week.
Two weeks ahead the release of the Coldplay album Ghost Stories a third single called A Sky Full Of Stars is available. The song directly enters the list at number 6 and is only the third Top 10 hit for the British band. The last single entering the Top 10 was Viva La Vida stopping at number 5 in 2008. The big success of the song certainly comes due to the collaboration with Tim Bergling aka AVICII who acts as producer here.
The official charts ain't the detector of the moment. Published with at least one week delay they reflect the hype from two weeks ago. This week one might see it with the nr.1. Actually the star of the moment is Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst. But the contest taken place on 10th of May will only count in two weeks issue of the charts. What one can see now is the hope of the German public for a good result of the German entry Elaiza. Is It Right changes the direction of move and re-enters the Top 10 at number 10. – As we already know the trio failed Europe wide by landing at a disappointing 18th place.
All in all the Top 10 are dominated by European productions. Nine out of ten songs are European which is a result last seen exactly two years ago. In between we also had seen very weak times for European music. In April 2013 there were only one European song invading the Top 10. The song in question back than was Let Her Go by Passenger.
The official superstar was voted on Saturday 3rd of May. The non official superstar had its show on Tuesday 6th of May. Than the third episode of new music show Sing meinen Song was aired featuring cover version of songs of Austrian Andreas Gaballier. The winning cover Amoi seg' ma uns wieder by Xavier Naidoo enters the charts directly at number 12. It is the 35th solo hit for the singer and the 58th chart hit with his appearance.
The original also can enter the list and lands at number 18 in its first week. The huge demand propelled the company's decision to publish the song as a single CD too. The release is scheduled for end of May. So far it is the highest rank the Austrian singer ever achieved and it is the highest Austrian track since Klangkarussell's Sonnentanz hit the Top10 a last time in October 2013.
Andreas Gabalier's signature hit lands additionally on number 50 this week–the highest rank since more than a year. Further down at number 70 also one can find So liab hob i di and Zuckerpuppen at number 82.
With She Moves - Far Away available as a full CD single Alle Farben takes a final leap to number 13. If this is the final peak one could resume the deep house wave as slowly fading out.
A week before its release as an album Kollegah's title track King bounces back to number 19 accompanied by the first single Alpha which lands at number 20 and AKs im Wandschrank at number 21. All three were resting the week before at number 41, 59 respectively number 63. Be prepared having a real invasion of Kollegah tracks next week.
With DSDS having its final The Voice Kids plays only the second pipe in this week's commercial result. Anyway once again a song performed within the show makes a big leap afterwards. This time it is Say Something by A Great Big World And Christina Aguilera that lands at a new peak on number 36. It is the 13th chart week for that song.
Lindsey Stirling's album Shatter Me goes number 4 on the album list. The title track also can make it into the song list landing at a proper number 59. It is only the second track of the crossover artist that can chart as a standalone track.
Criminal serial Tatort can launch a third chart hit this year. On 4th of May episode Am Ende des Flurs was aired using Dreaming My Dreams With You by country singer Waylon Jennings from 1974. The song can chart in Germany in Austria giving the singer his first and only chart hit in these countries at all.

12-12: Deichkind, Kraftklub, Tim Bendzko
Yeah! Hamburg trio Deichkind finally hits the Top 10. Their next announced single Leider geil (Sorry, wicked) is rising 13–6. It is the soundtrack to the actual life. You have to be aware of much things: pollution, sustainability, social issues, health … the fun things in life are completely different. A lot of people think like that and that’s the reason Leider geil is becoming more and more popular. The full CD release is scheduled for end of March. Will this be the first super hit for Deichkind? – So far it is the best selling track of its whole career. And this recent week it is the best sold German track as well.
Following on number 10 is UNHEILIG and the new single So wie du warst (Just as you were) and just behind it at number 12 again is Deichkind with Bück dich hoch (Stoop Up). Back at the Top 20 after the release of their album is MIA.. The Berlin band sees its single Fallschirm (Parachute) rising 10 places to number 18 again. The album Tacheles performs much better at number 3 in its initial week.
After the start of their tournee also The BossHoss can re-enter the Top 20. Don’t Gimme That stalls for this week at number 19.
Best new song of the week comes from Chemnitz based KRAFTKLUB (Power Club). They first had been listened to last autumn with their province anthem Ich will nicht nach Berlin (I don’t want to go to Berlin) that made a surprising number 5 at Bundesvision Song Contest. In February they released their debut album Mit K (With K) which immediately stormed to number 1 on the album list. With Songs für Liam the story continues. It is still music from the smaller towns but it has the power of fascinating not only the kids from there. It starts chart life at number 40 on downloads only. There are more things to come that will happen within the next two years certainly.
German newcomer 2011, winner of Bundesvision Song Contest and of the BAMBI award plus the 1live Krone – all these is Tim Bendzko. He now releases a third single from debut album Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären (If Words Would Be My Language). The track is named Ich laufe (I Run) and again it is a ballad. Bendzko sings about the ongoing life, the searching for luck and the truth that only stops at the very end. The song was available as a single download track before–that probably explains the low start at number 47 after it is released as a full CD single.
Supported by a very successful album Santiano is rising also in the singles list. Same titled song jumps 90–74 while the album is entering number 1. And also Jupiter Jones are on the road again and see their Still appearing back in the charts. Two days ago they won the ECHO award as the best radio song–so we will have the song for sure some more weeks inside the list.
Songs from German speaking territory
First let’s have a look at Switzerland which exports a lot of music these days. We find six tracks inside the list coming from there. Most successful mow is Stefanie Heinzmann. Her Diggin’ in The Dirt overtakes so far leading Ma chèrie by DJ Antoine.New material is dropped by another club act bringing us one of the biggest club hits of the 90s back at number 44. Originally Insomnia was a hit for Faithless in 1996–it stormed the dancefloors and the charts reaching number 2 where it held four weeks. In 2005 a remix was released and the tune since then is appearing again and again in the list cementing its status as a timeless classic. After the success of One Night In Ibiza Swiss DJ and producer Mike Candys can chart with his very first Swiss hit in Germany too. It is a re-work of Insomnia only slightly differing from the original. As companion his friend Jack Holiday appears as performer.
And another Swiss act stops for a short visit right now. It is DJ Bobo–probably the most successful Swiss act at all–who offers a new single from his latest album Dancing Las Vegas. Main track of the new release is La Vida Es–a typical eurodance track. The CD also contains a version on Volare and a live recording of Let The Good Times Row. The single dips to number 82. It is a certain thing that in next week time DJ Bobo is already disappeared again.
Best sold Austrian track is Brenna tuats guat (It Burns Well) by Hubert von Goisern after he had some performances in Northwest Germany. The track jumps 66–45 in its 20th chart week. For a dialect song not being good mood folcloristic Schlager it is an unbelievable chart career. He is joined by coutrymen Andreas Gabalier and DJ Ötzi.
DSDS impact
Also this week we can find some hits clearly profiting of the performance on the actual TV casting. March 10th the motto was “Party Hits”. Besides Ai Se Eu Te Pego and Titanium that are still in the list Give Me Everything gained most places jumping back into the list at 73. Given that it was not only the song but also the performer who had an impact on the new interest it was Hamed Anousheh who supported the all star collaboration between Pitbull, NE-YO, Afrojack & Nayer. The track already spent 42 weeks inside the German charts.
Exactly one year ago On The Floor by JLO Feat. Pitbull appeared in the list for the first time. Last week it dropped out for the first time since then. Now it appears once again at number 82 after Silvia Amaru staged with the song on DSDS. Unfortunatly the performance was highly anticipated but still she had to leave the show.
And the last DSDS influenced re-entry: Is he one of the favourites or not? Jesse Ritch can launch a song he performed in the list once again. This time it is Yeah 3x originally by Bobby Brown.
Last statistical gimmick at the end: this week we have the first survey since the start of 2009 without any Lady Gaga song mentioned. The lady had a consecutive three years chart presence till now. It is Marry The Night that drops off the charts as the last single of her. Hmmm … I promise you that the world still turns around. See ya all next week.

Fading German Hits And A Few New Arrivals
R(ihanna) feat. Calvin Harris rebounds to number 1. It is the third time a track can reach the top position again after having at least a one week break. In 2010 we had also three tracks bouncing down from number 1 and back again. So We Found Love does nothing unusual at all. It is Rihanna’s 11th summarized week at number 1 in her whole career. She now joins Marlon Roudette and Israel IZ Kamakawiwo’ole – both of them collected the 11 weeks with one or two hits – Rihanna so far set up shorter number 1 strikes. Umbrella spent the longest time of all her top hits right at number 1: 5 consecutive weeks. That was back in July 2007.
New inside the Top 10 is Canadian Nickelback with its new single When We Stand Together. It is the 3rd single of the band reaching the upper 10 in Germany. Further down Lana del Rey meets growing interest. The single Video Games so far was available as download only – from next week on proper CD sales count also, for sure we will see her rising much higher than recent rank 17.
The Bundesvision effect slowly fades away. For the first time since June we don’t have any single German track inside the Top 10. Best sold German track is Echt (Pure) by Glasperlenspiel which slides down one place to number 14. Right behind at number 15 stops dance production Turn This Club Around by R.I.O. feat. U-Jean. After six weeks as one of the 10 best sold singles the track now starts dropping down. On the way down also Rosenstolz with Wir sind am Leben (We Are Alive) can reach the rank as third most sold German track – actually placed at number 24.
Highest new German track enters the list at position 32. It is king of Schlager and discofox Michael Wendler who after a two and a half years break reappaers in the charts. His first commercially successful hit Sie liebt den DJ (She Loves The DJ) had an impressive 30 weeks chart run although it only climbed to number 27. Since than the song became somewhat of an discofox anthem played at almost every party from Après Ski and carnival season to Ballermann Mallorca discos and the Oktoberfest. This year Michael Wendler decided to release a sequel to his hit. Now it’s called Sie liebt ihn immer noch (She Still Loves Him). The new song contains all the ingredients the old one already showed including parts of the lyrics. It is a very simple formula milked here.
The new single was released as double A-side containing a duet with young Schlager talent Anika who was casted by Michael Wendler himself earlier this year. In The Heat Of The Night was chosen as second track for the single in September when both performed the song in Oberhausen. The sound of that track is slightly different to all older releases. Seems Michael Wendler tries to enrich his repertoire with more eurodance sound. So far the new single performs in a more or less semi-successful way.
Second German artist celebrating commercial success is Roger Cicero’s. Propelled by the release of his new album which enters at number 4 at the album list teh title track and single In diesem Moment (At This Moment) jumps 97–48 in its second week.
And a third German artist has something to offer. Peter Maffay is announcing a new album, the sixth of the Tabaluga series for children. Die Zeit hält nur in Träumen an (Only In Dreams Time Stops) is the leading single featuring Monrose singer Mandy Capristo. It enters at position 86 as Peter Maffay’s 46th chart single.
Sorry for not embedding the video here. SONY does not support its artists by allowing their videos be shared. If you wanna have a look at the clip try out supported portal MyVideo.
Some releases from Switzerland and Austria also penetrating the charts more or less succesfull. Leading the pack due to it’s final release on CD is DJ Antoine feat. The Beat Shakers. The single Ma Chérie jumps 99–33. The track reminds me a lot to Stereo Love by Edward Maya feat. Vika Jigulina. Well – it is somewhat of an follower to DJ Antoine’s remix hit Welcome To St. Tropez which reached number 3 back in summer.
Already for 5 weeks on Top in Austria Hubert von Goisern can also enter the German list with Brenna tuats guat (It Burns Well – in strong Austrian dialect). It is for the first time the folk singer can reach the German charts. Probably the strong lyrics caused the sudden success although it is hard to understand for most Germans. The song expresses the anger about the financial crisis in Europe.
Second Austrian entering the German chart is fii. He performs as a living beat box and applied for participation at X Factor a few weeks ago. The audience were celebrating his performance – the judge said NO. Well – the album released already a year ago in Austria now is distributed also in Germany. The „hit single“ Power To The People can enter the list at 67 in ist first week.
Talking bout X Factor: the weekly instant effect is somehow lower than other weeks. Motto of hte show aired on 1st November was The Wild 80s. Obviously the interest in original songs recorded 30 years ago is minimal. No song performed at the show appears in the recent list. Only Kelly Clarkson gets a boost in sales after performing her single Mr Know It All at the show. The track now sits proper at number 18.
