Jan 15th 16: Catch & Release goes #1

Well it is kind of surprising: Adele's Hello looses steam and gives way for anothe #1. The surprise of course is the fact that the new #1 is a song even longer sneaking through the list. The deep house remix of Catch & Release recorded originally by Matt Simons and reworked by Dutch Deepend already spends its 13th week inside the survey. Well–that's quite a relaxed rise.

Catch & Release is the first number one involving a USAmerican since May past year when Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth clocked up there. It is no secret telling you Matt Simons alone never had a chance to get there. So at least 50% (or even more) of the succeess belongs Dutch project deepend. It is this the third consecutive calendar year with having a Dutch act topping the German list. As far as I can oversee the whole history of German charts it never happened before.

Still on the way up Shawn Mendes is. Stitches gains another place stopping now at #3 in its 15th chart week. The singer now matches the peak of country fellow Justin Bieber. Will the new idol go further? Or will he get overturned by EFF that sees its Stimme rising two places to #4. By the way #4 is the worst performance for the best selling German production since May 1st past year.
And also Major Lazer Feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG still move upwards with Light It Up. The track goes #5 in its 9th chart week.

The first real new song comes in at #11. And it is one that for sure will dog us the next months. Do you know what is the most sold German schlager of all times? Not Atemlos durch die Nacht–that one serves as one of three second best sold songs. The most sold German song of all times still is Ein Stern (der deinen Namen trägt) by DJ Ötzi & Nik P. from 2007. And exactly that duo did it again in 2016. Their new single calls Geboren um dich zu lieben and starts chart short of the top 10. Since 2008 both didn't appear that high–I guess this part of history will be written newly in a few days.
For nerds of statistics. The new single is DJ Ötzi's 30th chart single and the third week in a row that the highest new entry comes from Austria.

The strong start of the song comes due to Florian Silbereisen's TV Show Das große Fest der Besten–another Schlager event on public mainstream TV. The airing also propels other classics up the charts as Roland Kaiser & Maite Kelly and their Warum hast du nicht nein gesagt. It is the fifth time the song sneaks in the survey and slowly it becomes a sure party hit.
New inside the list the showmaster himself now is. With trio KLUBBB3 Florian Silbereisen has its very first chart entry at #87. For a TV superstar that result seems kind of annoying.

The news of the week in music business of course was the death of David Bowie. The incident generates some chart entries–even some of his most significant songs can get attention like never before. I am talking for example about Heroes. Recorded in 1977 it had some medium chart success in Britain and some European countries–except Germany. Here the song charted for the very first time in a cover version by the team of The Voice of Germny in 2011. Back than it peaked at #76.
Now the original has its first chart appearance and lands at an impressive #19–which also his the first top 20 appearance of David Bowie since 1986 when Underground had a short sneak in.

Also Space Oddity has its first chart appearance this current week. The song lands at #40 47 years after it was first released.

July 24th 15: Third Act Achieving Second No.1 in 2015

Deep house beats Raop as Lost Frequencies Feat. Janieck Devy change places with CRO. So the new #1 is Reality–probably the coolest track for summer 2015.

By switching to #1 Lost Frequencies becomes the third act in 2015 with two no.1 hits. First we had Ellie Goulding managing the double in February followed by Felix Jaehn who entered the top in May for a second time. And now the Belgian DJ. He of course is the slowest act as it took him more than three months to return on top. On the other hand featured singer Janieck Devy is the fastest new name in 2015 that rose to #1. Remember it is only the fourth chart week for RealityCharlie Puth had to wait a week longer before getting the crown alongside Wiz Khalifa.

Back to the historical dimension of the moment and there is one indeed. Three acts with at least two #1 hits in one calendar year–that's a feat only seen twice in whole chart history. Back in 1977 there were ABBA, Smokie and Baccara with two #1s and Boney M serving with three. Nine years before in 1968 we had the same figure as Tom Jones, Heintje and The Beatles had two #1 hits and the Bee Gees three. So in 2015 we are still far away from such a situation although we are as close as never in between. Keep fingers crossed!

With Janieck Devy there is another Dutch singer at the German top. The last one doing so was Mr Probz back in March 2014 thanks to a deep house remix of his recording. Seems that history repeats somehow. Well–Reality is the fourth deep house #1 this current year, in 2014 we only had three...

The question now is: Who will become the biggest deep house star. With Felix Jaehn and Lost Frequencies there are two new and shiny stars on the scene. A year earlier Robin Schulz appeared and propelled the sound to absolute heights. Right now he got his latest offering on sale. Sugar starts right at #3 giving him a third top10 hit in 2015 and a fifth at all. That's so far the best statistic of all three DJs.

Alongside Robin Schulz 19 years old Canadian Francisco Yates is featured. He immediately becomes the best performing Canadian act since ... no–not Justin Bieber, but Carly Rae Jepsen. Back in early summer 2012 she landed her Call Me Maybe at #3.

Also new inside the Top 10 Ed Sheeran is. His latest single is Photograph already available for a year. Due to a remix by Felix Jaehn the original recording now lands at #8 giving the singer his third Top10 entry in 2015 and his sixth at all.

MoTrip is still on the way up. So wie du bist lands at #16 after huge download success during last week. The song still benefits from the commercial with Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Also USAmerican indie rock band Walk The Moon still rises and reaches the Top 20 with Shut Up + Dance in its 7th chart week. At #19 it is the second highest production made only by US acts.

Further down the list we find at #60 a sleeper hit as Runaway (U & I) by Swedish Galantis sets a new peak in its 17th chart week. Follow up single Peanut Butter Jelly slides 83–91 in its fourth week so far.
British-German M22 (consisting of Matt James and Frank Sanders–the latter one known as one half of the Michael Mind Project) slowly gains attention with Good To Be loved. The track steadily rises now reaching #74 in its fourth chart week.

April 10th 2015: Static Deep House Ruled Top 10

Lost Frequencies are at number one a second week with deep house track Are You With Me.

As the very top also the following six ranks miss every hint of movement. It is that a situation we had end of August past year when even the first nine ranks did not move for a week.
Even more uniform is the sound represented with this seven hits. Four of them (Are You With Me, Cheerleader, Firestone, Wolke 4) are very similar deep house tracks. Two (Hold Back The River, FourFiveSeconds) represent the more basic and authentic style which is very often taken for a remix as–well, deep house. This sound is very popular and commercially successful for at least one and a half year–such a complete invasion of the top of the charts is kind of unique.

A moombathon-trap-track arrives at number 8 and brings some fresh sound into the Top 10. After its video release on 23rd of March Lean On by Major Lazer X DJ Snake Feat. MØ gains eight places and serves as the biggest hit for all three artists involved.

Highest new entry comes in at number 9 in the face of Klingande's new hit single RIVA Restart The Game. It is the follow up to their number 1 hit Jubel that led the charts in autumn 2013 for seven weeks and was the very first deep house track at number 1 in Germany. The new song is also a pure deep house production.

The calm top end reflects the rest of the list. There are only two new entries (second one comes in at number 17 with Rihanna's new single Bitch Betta Have My Money) and four further re-entries ranking between number 90 and 99. It is one of the least results of this decade. Issue of January 16th this year we had a similar week.

13th of March 15: The Biggest Hit of Kanye West

No change at the Top. It is still Ellie Goulding and her anthem Love Me Like You Do that rules the sales and airplays list. The British charts that are published a bit faster just this current week see the song dipping to number 2 after four weeks at the top–that might be the first sign of weakness of the song. So far it still tops the daily German iTunes list.

More historical is the 5–3 rise of FourFive Seconds recorded by Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney. It is now the best performing single of the American rapper. So far the collaboration with Estelle American Boy held that crown by peaking at number 5 in 2008. Also Paul McCartney has reason to celebrate. It is his first appearance inside the Top3 since 1992 when Hope Of Deliverance stopped exactly at number 3.
With Paul McCartney charting alongside Kanye West at number 65 we have another historical moment. All Day is the 81st chart hit that has Paul McCartney somehow involved. The list contains 41 singles recorded by The Beatles, 15 by Wings, 23 under his own name and the Band Aid singles of 1984 and 2004 on which he also appeared. 82 chart entries–that's one more than Austrian singer Peter Alexander collected under his belt. Of course Mr. Alexander released all the entries under his own artist name. It's your decision what to count as more substantial.

Further Gainers
Next typical deep house track arrives at number 9. Wolke 4 was released by Philipp Dittberner & Marv and enters the Top 10 in its 7th week.

Highest new entry is the 37th chart hit for grönemeyer. His new single is called Fang mich an.

Revolverheld finds some more friends due to the appearance of singer Johannes Strate on The Voice of Germany Kids which has fantastic viewer rates since the new season started in January and even overtakes long time leader Deutschland sucht den Superstar. Additionally on February 28th Revolverheld was announced as nominee for two categories of the ECHO award in March. As an effect Ich lass für dich das Licht an re-enters at number 67 and Las uns gehen at number 76. It is the 51st resp. 30th chart week of the songs.

First effects of upcoming Eurovision Song Contest appear inside the list. The national qualifying show was aired on Thursday 5th of March. Already while the show was going on a lot of people downloaded the most convincing songs. Leading the pack of course is later winner Andreas Kümmert with Heart Of Stone landing at number 84 after two hours of sale.
Surprising is the result of Alexa Feser who lands at number 87 with Glück. She made it into the semi final of the qualifying with that song. Then she staged with another song (Das Gold von morgen)and failed.

2014 - A French Year

Most successfull number 1 act in 2014 was David Guetta feat. Sam Martin with two number 1 hits (lovers on the sun and Dangerous) and 11 weeks spending there.

Three other artists managed to have two number 1 hits in 2014:
- Robin Schulz (officially credited on Prayer in C (5 weeks) and as a remixer on Waves (4 weeks)
- CRO with Traum (4 weeks) and as part of Band Aid 30 (2 weeks)
- Andreas Bourani as solo artist with Auf uns (2 weeks) and also as part of the charity Band Aid 30 project

David Guetta is one of three French acts that topped the German list in 2014. Lily Wood & The Prick (with help by Robin Schulz) and The Avener (Fade Out Lines 1 week) did also. All in all the German top was invaded by a French act for 20 weeks in 2014. Never before in chart history the neighbour country had such a strong appearance inside the German list.

20th of June 2014: Robin Schulz launches the summer hit

After four weeks there is a new number one in Germany. A straight one. Again. Prayer in C is the fourth song starting its chart run direct at the Top–a feat last seen in autumn 2011.
The artist in question already had a number 1 this current year: Robin Schulz the DJ and producer right now starts becoming a superstar. His remix of a song originally recorded by French Lilly Wood & The Prick continues his remix of Mr Probz' Waves–a next deep house no.1.

With Robin Schulz at the Top German productions are most successful in 2014. It is the third song officially credited to a German artist but the fifth if one count the men behind the scenes. Compared to other years the result now matches 2012 when there were three German number 1s too but falls short of 2009 when we had four proper no.1 hits credited to German artists plus one which was penned and produced by two Germans.
For France it is the first time since 2000 that French artists/productions can climb to number 1 in Germany two years in a row.

This chart issue covers sales from 6th of June to 12th of June. It is the week when the FIFA WM started. The big anticipation can be seen as the football anthems start to perform stronger inside the list. Best performing We Are One by Pitbull Feat. Jennifer Lopez & Cláudia Leitte lands at number 7 now.
With a full CD release behind also Stefan Raab sees his song Wir kommen, um ihn zu holen flying to number 43.

With a new released version–a duet with country singer Jennifer NettlesAll Of Me by John Legend reaches a new peak. The track goes 23–18 in its 18th chart week. Anyway it is a weak performance compared to the number 1 positions the track achieved all over the world.

Every week a TV story: it is Verstehen Sie Spass that can support a song with a broad airing presence on Saturday 7th of June. Rea Garvey staged with Can't Say No and gives the single a final sales boost: 20 places better than last week means number 50.

9th of May 2014: Andreas Bourani goes No.1

There is a brand new no.1 in Germany this week. Released digital and as a CD Auf uns by German singer songwriter Andreas Bourani storms the top directly. It is the first song going straight to number 1 since October 2013 and the first in 2014. So we do have the situation that for a fourth year in a row May is the month when a longer period (at least 6 months) of growing number 1 hits is interrupted by a rocket hit.

For singer Andreas Bourani it is the first number 1 hit. He started his chart career three years ago as one of a bunch of new German singer songwriter. Tim Bendzko, Phillip Poisel, Mark Forster and the likes are a new generation of sensitive stars that seems very back to musical craftsmanship.

Right at number 3 there is the next German song worth mentioning. Although it is a well known and long running hit Atemlos durch die Nacht by German schlager queen Helene Fischer once again reaches its peak position. After 29 weeks and 15 weeks inside the Top 5 the song is going to become the most successful chart hit of 2014. In Austria the song reached the Top position for three weeks in February this current year.

New at number 6 British DJ Calvin Harris launches his second Top 10 hit in Germany with Summer. In his home country he is a superstar having six number 1 hits under his belt. In Germany he was number 1 once as a featured artist on Rihanna's We Found Love in late 2011. As a main artist he came close to the Top 10 a year ago accompanied by Ellie Goulding. Back than I Need Your Love stopped at number 13. Now he reaches the Top 10 by digital sales easily. Will this get him a star in Germany too?

Deep house still sells strongly. Next hit is One Day (Vandaag) by Dutch Bakermat. The track climbs 12–9 in its 7th chart week and is the third deep house saxophone track. Well–if the crowd is pleased...

With Waves (Mr Probz remmixed by Robin Schulz) at number 5 and Riptide (Vance Joy remixed by Flic Flac) we have three tracks of the same flavour inside the German Top 10. The fourth deep house track My Love by Route 94 feat. Jess Glynne at number 7 luckily defines the sound in a much different way.

Having Bakermat and Mr Probz simultanously in the Top 10 Dutch music has a real strong presence inside the German charts. On the opposite the highest US-American production sits as low as number 8 in the face of Pharrell Williams and his Happy. Both feats ain't seen for a long while.

Casting effects
With approaching the final the crazyness about contestants on The Voice Kids becomes a new quality. On April 29th finalists from team Nena were elected. The big favourite (but not at all the winner of the whole season) was Richard who performed All Of Me in the battle round. As an effect the original recording by John Legend jumps 61–19 in its 12th chart week which is of course much much better than its peak a few weeks ago.

The all eclipsing star of the moment doubtlessly is Pharrell Williams. Three number 1 singles in a row, the album G I R L peaking at number 2 (and topping the lists worldwide), a collaboration with adidas for a fashion line … On April 23rd the video for Marilyn Monroe–the opening track of his album–was released. The track so far is not released for a standalone release in Germany. Meanwhile it goes number 43 as an album cut.

The second single taken from the upcoming Coldplay album Ghost Stories (to be released on May 16th) is Midnight. It was released on vinyl on 19th of April, the digital release in Germany followed on May 2nd not affecting the current list. In fact a week before a remix by master Giorgio Moroder was available bringing the track to number 44. Some further remixes by Tiesto and Kygo are around also but not official releases at all.

18th of April 2014:

While the charts of the UK at this very moment changing faster and faster–it is the 9th week in a row that Britain celebrates a complete new number 1–in Germany the turn of number 1 songs slows down further. Last weeks Top single is the top selling song this current week also. Rather Be by Clean Bandit Featuring Jess Glynne holds firm for a second week and is the fourth consecutive chart topper that spends at least two weeks there. In other words: since late December chart toppers managed to hold their position at least for two weeks.
What sounds quite noteworthy is not at all that spectacular for winter and early spring time. From NOvember 2012 to May 2013 we had five consecutive chart toppers spending more than one week at the Top. From December 2011 to May 2012 there were also five. So there is some way to go still before we proclaim a new record in calmness.
A static top ain't a static list at all. But this current week it is so. The whole Top 5 remains unchanged–a situation found on January 24th also. So decide yourself whether the charts are thrilling these days or not.

New inside the Top 10:
Australian Vance Joy slides up two further places landing now at number 9 with Riptide. In comparison with Route 94's My Love at number 8 it is the third deep house track inside the German Top 10.

The highest new entry starts lowly at number 32 which is the third lowest hot new entry this year. The honour goes to German rappers KC Rebell Feat. Farid Bang. Their Kanax in Moskau is a sequel to Kanax in Paris released in March last year and stopped at number 60.
Farid Bang with this current entry collects 13 chart entries no one peaking higher than number 28. He is hard on the way of becoming one of the artists with most charting tracks but never entering the top 20. On the actual summary of this list he stands at number 6. So German gangster rap is highly productive but still a product for a very small scenery.
One rapper with some more attention is Kollegah. His youtube channel Bosshaft-TV has half a million of regular viewers. Every week he releases at least five new videos and some days ago he was nominated five times for the German web video award which will be given late May. All that presence may help his single Alpha back to the list. It lands at number 35 again in its 7th chart week. For a gangster track this is a hilarious result. With a freshly released video also AKs im Wandschrank is back on the list. It now stands on number 36–9 places higher than three weeks ago when it first appeared on the survey.

Future hits:
Dernière Danse by Indila was number 1 i France already. Some independent seller in Germany offered the track plus album since end of February. The official and proper release followed on April 11th. A week before the demand seems huge. The track enters the list at number 53 after it had a short appearance in early march at number 98.
Aloe Blacc's new single The Man shot to number 1 in the UK last week. In Germany there is no official release date distributed. Anyway the track climbs up the charts right now. This week it lands at number 56.
Already released as a single in 2012 Parov Stelar's All Night this week enters the charts for the very first time. The founder of electro swing makes his German chart debut at number 57.

DSDS effect
Emeli Sandé benefits from the performance by Yasemin. Free re-enters at number 70.

In the German wikipedia their is a long during beef about how important a remixer is and whether producer are worth mentioning on the encyclopedia if they "only" release remixes. This week there is an evidence that a remix can do a lot to a song. The band American Authors is signed to a moajor company since 2012. It released Best Day Of My Life back than–the hiatus of success came early this year. A Europe wide release followed. In Germany the single was available since March. Now the track enters at number 81 and probably will rise higher cause of the new announced remixes by likes such as Such A Gent who brought the indie rock song into a trap/deep house style. The German wikipedia does not know the remixer, neither does the English one.
Another trap artist debuts at the German charts due to an appearance on the latest issue of The Dome compilation. Turn Down for What by DJ Snake and Lil Jon already was released in December 2013. In March 2014 the track was chosen to complete the 69th edition of the successfull compilation serial and finally makes its way into the list as an standalone track also. Number 93 is the rank it gets this week. For Lil Jon it is the first new material inside the German list since 2006.

On the very end of the list the release of the DVD/BluRay version of Frozen brings signature song Let It Go by Demi Lovato back to the list. Number 83 is 8 ranks better than its original performance back in February.

11th of April: Jess Glynne is the star of the moment

This week Rather Be goes Nr.1 in Germany also. According to acharts.us it is the seventh country where Clean Bandit Featuring Jess Glynne can reach the Top. It is the first British number 1 since October past year when James Blunt shot to the Top with Bonfire Heart but left the sunny place after a week already.

Having a look at the velocity of change at the Top we do have the fourth song entering the Top in 2014. Last year this current week there were still the third number 1 song appearing as the most selling song in the face of Passenger’s Let Her Go which actually was only the second British number 1 hit in 2013. This marks what weak year British pop music had.

Rather Be took nine weeks to reach its peak which is a long time for a number 1 song. But in fact we just had a late chart topper t the end of 2013 when Timber by Pitbull Feat. KE$HA topped the list in its 11th chart week. From all this we can resume: the taste of music buyers change a little more often but it takes a longer time for convincing masses.

Jess Glynne ain't only a nr.1 act right now. She also has a second track arriving in the Top 10. My Love goes 20–10 in its third chart week which makes her the most successful newcomer of 2014 so far. Sales of the freshly released CD will count from next week on–so expect some more power and probably a further rise of the song.

The highest new entry comes from Germany and starts at number 6. It is the second pre-release of Jan Delay’s upcoming album Hammer und Michel. St. Pauli is only the third Top 10 hit for the rapper and singer who already has a 20 years long music career. Nr.6 exactly matches the result of his last Top 10 hit Oh Johnny in summer 2009.

On March 28th the full EP of Riptide by Vance Joy appeared in shelves. It contains the original and the very popular deep house remix by Flic Flac which gives the song a boost in sales going 23–11. It is now the most popular song produced by an Australian artist. The last one Changes (featuring Pnau) was a number 1 back in December and still sits pretty at number 29.
A further deep house hit enters the top 20 in the face of Bakermat's One Day (Vandaag). After three weeks inside the charts the production only managed to rise three places. Might be a sign for the fact that a deep house rhythm alone doesn't attract people that much anymore. Still the crowd loving that sound is strong.

ECHO effect number 2: After the performance of Die Fantastischen Vier on the award show on 27th of March the demand in the anniversary release raises a lot. 25 goes 27–15. On the show the four presented a four minutes mash up medley of 25 hits.

With new vocals available Tsunami by DVBBS & Borgeous returns the direction within the singles charts and can rise 53–40. The new version officially is called Tsunami (Jump) and features lyrics by Tinie Tempah. In the UK the new track topped the charts three weeks ago. In Germany the track already collected 20 chart weeks.

How far will it go? The first week the track is available as an official digital single Down By The River by Milky Chance can climb ten places to number 44. It's not much but actually predecessor Stolen Dance took 18 weeks to peak at number 2. So there is some time left for the new track.

A full weeks sales makes Loyal by Chris Brown Lil Wayne Tyga propel up the list 81–54 which is one of the biggest jump this week. Still number 54 is a bad result for leading artist Chris Brown although it is a new peak for accompanying TYGA.

BIRDY announces single number four from her album Fire Within. Words As Weapons is scheduled for a release on April 14th–the video was premiered end of March and makes the song charting as an album cut at number 63. So far only Wings managed to chart from the current album.

28th February 2014: MR PROBZ is No.1 – Bushido tries to

As expected MR PROBZ goes No.1 with having his hit Waves released also physically on CD. It is the first European production occupying the Top in 2014. The last one doing so was Changes by French Faul & Wad Ad Vs. PNAU. Obviously there is a European sound called Deep House at this moment which represents the continental European mood perfectly.

With MR PROBZ being No.1 there is a Dutch act at the German top after 9 years. It was the casted children act Ch!pz that had the honour last. The fortune lasted two weeks back than. Let’s wait what power the new definition of Deep House can emerge.

No.1 pop sensation Clean Bandit from Britain also arrives in Germany. After Rather Be was used several times around the coverage to the Olympic Games in Sochi it takes a 22–12 leap and probably will arrive the Top 10 in next weeks time when the physical single is released fully also. The same record setting status as they got in their home country is in continental Europe far away.

Last week’s highest new entry the cover Shot Me Down by David Guetta feat Skylar Grey reaches #13 after a full sales week. It now ranks higher than the original from 1966 by Cher and it is the best performing track for David Guetta since September 2012.

German gangsta rap invasion
The highest new entry comes from a German gangster rapper. It’s not at all the one who hits the top spot in the album list. It is someone who I would call the next generation. He already grabed the No.1 of the album list together with Farid Bang a year ago. Now Kollegah announces his new album King with the single track Alpha. It lands at number 15 which remarks a new peak for him in the single’s survey and which is in fact his first solo entry in the charts.

Talking ’bout next generation: Kollegah also got a feature on master Bushido’s new album Sonny Black (that’s the one at No.1 for the long players). The highest standalone track from that album is Gangsta Rap Kings on which Kollegah is featured. The track swaps in at number 45. And I really got the feeling that a lot of fans loaded the song cause of Kollegah’s appearance. Master Bushido had his last Top10 entry in the single’s list three and a half year ago.

Anyway–Bushido’s new album brings some more tracks to chart honour. Six tracks are cherry picked–making the rapper the artist with most different tracks on charts in 2014 so far. Even summarized within the current decade he is the German act having most tracks entered the survey. The result of 20 tracks is more than Rihanna (19) has under her belt but one short of Flo Rida. On the all time list Bushido this week matches the result of The Beatles that had 41 different chart entries.

A third Gangsta rapper is very present on the list this week. Farid Bang announced a new album for April too. In advance he releases one track to another. This week the almost love rap Dein Weg enters the list at #86.

Up on the list ... it goes for Trumpets–the new offering by Jason Derulo. The track rises 71–49 in its third week.

Newcomer alert at number 85. Former Star Search finalist and child star Senta-Sofia now is of full age. So she took a new name and changed her musical style. As Oonagh she released her first album. As support act to Santiano’s tour she reaches a wider audience which gives her a first entry with her single Gäa.

So–if one had counted the many new entries this week: 14 plus 5 tracks re-entering the list. That is the biggest turnover of the yet young year 2014. The calm weeks definitely are over.

Hot Spot 11-29-13

Klingande spend a fifth week at number 1. Meaning Jubel eclipses the success of Bob Sinclars anthem Love Generation which was the last French production that was the most sold single for five weeks. That was back in 2006. To find another French success of that dimension one has to go back to autumn 1989 when Lambada paralyzed at least whole Europe. The project Kaoma had an impressive 10 weeks turn on the German top.

Adel Tawil brings his Lieder back to runner’s up position. After the run in the first week on sale and his first released album the song can made it to a real standalone hit too. So far he was once number 1 as an solo artist alongside Azad and once as one half of Ich + Ich.

A little sensation takes place on the upper place with a complete British free Top 10. Such a situation wasn’t seen for a long long time. Highest British act comes in at number 11 in the face of James Blunt. Further down some more acts show their power: With his album Swings Both Ways flying to number 1 Robbie Williams’ single Go Gentle also takes a leap to land at number 16 this week. The duet with Olly Murs I Wan'na Be Lik You sneaks in at number 85 while Dream A Little Dream Of Me with Lily Allen lands three places further down.
Back to the upper regions: After nine weeks outside the Top 20 Birdy’s Wings is back at number 18. Peak of the single was in its release week in late September at number 15.

At number 21 a dance track comes in that ain’t fully released yet. Changes by French Faul & Wad Ad feat. Pnau is already a big hit in clubs and perfectly fits the number one sound of Klingande and likes. It’s very certain that we witness here the next big hit.

Helene Fischer now gets the full Bambi award effect: her single Atemlos durch die Nacht jumps 69–22 after her hosting and performance within the show aired on TV.
