It is the fifth week for Despacito by Luis fonsi Ft. Daddy Yankee holding firm at #1. Even though predecessor Shape Of You spent 15 weeks at the top this result ain't as bad. Well–after the epic run of 16 weeks in 1990 for Verdammt ich lieb dich by Matthias Reim the remix project Tom's Diner by DNA & Suzanna Vega made it up to a seven weeks run. Could this figure already called a rule?
In 1978 the suceeder of Boney M's Rivers Of Babylon (17 weeks with a single week break) was You're The One That I Want by Olivia Newton John & John Travolta who added a six weeks #1 appearance (with two breaks).
As the #1 is steady also the rest of the top 10 is quite calm. The top 3 leaves totally unmoved including Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran at #3. With its 20th top10 week it enters the ten longest running top 10 hits of the current decade matching the results of Love Yourself (Justin Bieber in 2015/16), Geiles Leben (Glasperlenspiel same time) and Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen in 2012).
The highest new entry stops at #8. It is the new single by Robin Schulz teasing his upcoming album Uncovered and his eighth top 10 hit within three years. Singer James Blunt was absent from that chart height for three and a half year. At the end of 2013 his Bonfire Heart hit #1.
