26-12: Soccer Dance

Die Toten Hosen right now repeat the result of their so far greatest hit Zehn kleine Jägermeister as current hit single Tage wie diese stays for a fourth week right at the Top of Germany’s singles charts. Used by public TV ARD as the main anthem for the EURO2012 the track is heavily supported by media use. So does number 2 which comes right now from Linkin Park. Burn It Down is used by ZDF for the same reason and now is the highest ranking track of Linkin Park of all times. They reached three times number 4 so far. In 2004, in 2007 and in 2009–now the history of the band is re-written.

The current list is covering the time span 15th to 21st of June. In this time the hopes for a German championship seemed realistic. Finale wir kommen (Final we’re coming) by KAY ONE Featuring Shindy tells about that dream. It climbs 54–29. Last Thursday these hopes were smashed by the team from Italy. Probably the KAY ONE song will tumble down in two weeks time dramatically.

Rising also is the Ukrainian band Los Colorados. Its take on I Like To Move It is the second official ZDF-track for EURO2012 promotion. It now reaches the upper half of the list at number 44.

The best performing new songs are alle from the dancefloor. Highest new entry inside the German list comes from Swiss Patrick Miller. So far he is known as the voice of the rap part on recordings by Mike Candys. So far he collected two Top 20 hits within the past 9 months. Now he starts his own solo single Dancing in London. It is a dance infected tune also but falls short of the two predecessors.

The man who made Patrick Miller popular can’t make it that big. His newest offeringSunshine (Fly So High) is even outsold by predecessor 2012. It lands at number 64 so far.

The highest new entry coming from a German act is Feeling So Blue by the Michael Mind Project. It is build around the Eiffel 65 hit from 1999. Landing at number 38 in its first chart week it is the first time since four years that the Michael Mind Project can reach the upper half of the charts again. Singer Dante Thomas seems after a long long break really back in the business. It is already his second chart appearance in 2012.

What else? – Amy Macdonald’s album Life In A Beautiful Day shot to number 1 last week. This issue she has to move to number 2. Instead her single Slow It Down rises again and lands at number 39–which is a new peak for the song after seven weeks in the list.

Steadily rising is Belgian Triggerfinger’s unplugged version of I Follow Rivers. This week the song can stop at number 40. The original by Lykke Li also finds some more fans and rises 10–8 this current week, which also marks a new peak for the song.

Philipp Poisel had a big success at the beginning of this year when his song Eiserner Steg became very popular after being performed on a casting show. Now a further song from his last album gains attention. It is the last track on the album Bis nach Toulouse and it’s called Ich will nur (I Only Want To).It is a very reduced love ballad. As I found out the song isn’t released or scheduled for a proper single release. Instead of that there is a new album announced for August which will be probably partly live. Maybe it is the pre-flurry that let people purchase Ich will nur as a live version on their mp3 players. Number 43 is an impressive start.

Rising also is Reckoning Song / One Day the remix of Asaf Avidans song by Wankelmut. It is new inside the upper half at number 49.

Two years ago Menowin Fröhlich seemed to be one of the big stars of the future. Than he failed in winning the superstar casting contest only becoming the runner up. Last year he released his first single with more or less success. But the interest in the almost superstar fades away dramatically. Now his first album is announced. And almost nobody cares. The single that should tease the album lands at a low number 60. It is called Round ‘N’ Round.

I am actually wondering how often one can release the same sounding song. Marquess already does it with ¡Bienvenido! for the ninth time. Well –the success of the releases so far isdecreasing too. Number 61 for the summer single 2012.

And also Schlager old star Jürgen Drews comes with a new single. Für einen Tag (For One Day) is the newest offering landing at number 62.

Jürgen Drews -- Für einen Tag - MyVideo

Again on TV Die ultimative Chartshow. Although the survey on the most successfull synthie pop hits was aired for the 15th time one live act of the show can manage it to launch its hit again. It’s Faithless that sees its Insomnia again landing at number 79. It is the 55th chart week for the song so far and the 12th time that it re-enters the list.

And finally the song noted for the most times inside the German sales charts Sky And Sand by Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner this issue leaves the list. Last week it was noted at number 96 in its 115th chart week–now it is really out. Now the song with most chart weeks is Rolling In The Deep by Adele which sits at number 94 in its 77th week.

Nr.1 Battle + First X-mas Releases

Once again R(ihanna) is the one who grabs the honour of being number 1 in Germany. Plus – once again Rihanna does so by rising from a place not being number 1. It is the second time that We Found Love reclaims the top position after left that one before. The last track and artist doing so was Keri Hilson with her I Like almost exactly two years ago. Back than Aura Dione and Lady Gaga where the combatants disturbing a consecutive run at the top. In 2011 it was again Aura Dione and a new star named Flo Rida who doing similar to Rihanna.

The rise back to number 1 is all but surprising. Talk That Talk – the new album of Rihanna appeared in shops and enters at number 3 within the album list. Big album releases very often cause a new interest in single hits. So We Found Love really benefits from the album release. It is the fourth week of the track as the most sold one in Germany.

The second big album release comes from Canadian NICKELBACK. They even outsell Rihanna with their new offer Here And Now – in the single’s survey When We Stand Together jumps back 18–9.

Their are more album effects inside the recent list. Finnish Sunrise Ave see their hollywood hills jumping back 97–73 and jessie.J re-enters the list with Price Tag at 74. Both acts released a deluxe re-edition of their latest albums.

The next big (sales) event is knocking at the door: Christmas. Last week Justin Bieber with Mistletoe clocked up the charts. This week menowin enters with Waiting For Christmas at 27. It’s the second single of the runner’s up superstar from 2010. As the list from iTunes shows the track could rise much higher during next weeks which could enable menowin as the recently most successful contestant from last year’s season.

Of course also well known Christmas anthems start appearing inside the list: Last Christmas by WHAM! stops at 52 and Mariah Carey re-enters with All I Want For Christmas Is You at 75. Further down the charts one can find also Melanie Thornton with Wonderful Dream (Holidays Are Coming) and the (unbelievably terrible) German contribution Küss mich, halt mich, lieb mich (Kiss me, hold me, love me) by Ella Endlich.

No Christmas story at all but a TV inspired spontaneous "hit" comes in at 63. The Supertalent show of November 19th presented Viennese Caroline Kreutzberger singing Pour que tu m’aimes encore. The song was a hit for Céline Dion in a lot of countries however not in Germany. Right after the performance the original enters the German list for the very first time.
Also RTL is keeping its videos available only on the channel’s own site – or go to Caroline’s facebook site for wathcing her version.

Two new German productions show up for new in the charts.
German dance project r.i.o. launched a succeeder to the hit Turn This Club Around. On Animal again U.S. born singer U-Jean delivers the voice. The track enters the list on downloads only at number 68 and stalls far behind the predecessor which ranges still at position 32. The full CD release of Animal appeared December 2nd – so wait a fortnight for comparing the power of both releases.

The next viral hit from Germany enters at number 100. It is a dance production – of course. FFF stands for „Fucking, feeding off, watching TV“ and the track is full with (minimal) slogans of our daily life. Originally released in early summer the track found its way to the clubs, into playlists and of course into the net. The video so far were watched over a million times on youtube. It is really on time for bringing the track to proper commercial hit status as well. The heads behind the track are Eichensohn/Davenstedt – two DJs who want to be unkown. They always appear as two clowns spreading the story that they met in Berlin buying a collection of Boney M.-hits. Well, doesn’t matter anyway who they are and where they come from – the track is probably one of the most consistent (mainstream) dance tracks of the last months. Enjoy the video!

For all non-German speaking people: there is an English version available also:

And please look for the Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Spanish ... version for your own!

New German tracks and a TV show penetrating all

What’s going on? There are some European productions very successful right now in Germany. A French DJ is hitting almost the top helping an US hiphop star to having his biggest hit to date. Supported by the interest for the new track the predecessor jumps back into the Top 20 to. Who’s That Chick? sits pretty at Number 19 in its 20th chart week.

More European sounds wanted? A Dutch woman is jumping up the list to Number 5 with an 60ies inspired song. A Finnish band and a Belgian singer are joining both inside the Top 10. – Only German productions do not show up that good. Best sold German track since four weeks Strobo Pop by Die Atzen mit Nena slides down two places to Number 16.

The most popular new German track is caused by the show most important for the actual pop business – DSDS (Germany’s take on Idol). But it is last year’s season that now has a second participant entering the charts. MENOWIN Fröhlich – the scandalized challenger of Mehrzad Marashi finally released his first CD single called If You Stayed. The hardcore fanbase announced weeks before a concerted action to assure a triple platin hit . Finally that action failed totally. If You Stayed lands at highest new entry at Number 21. He is the fourth candidate of the show having a chart entry but at this time also the one with the smallest success. Winner Mehrzad Marashi does had two Top 10 hits, recall candidate Jennifer Braun had much more luck within the casting for the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo that saw her as the second finalist having a Top 10 hit with I Care For You. And even Number 5 of the show – Thomas Karaoglan aka Der Checker had a Top 20 hit in July last year. Probably the career of MENOWIN just ends before it started.

Second highest new entry also comes from Germany. Söhne Mannheims (Sons of Mannheim) are back. The all star project is going to launch their next album – the fourth one named Barrikaden von Eden (Barricades Of Eden). It is scheduled for May. The first single Ist es wahr (Aim High) (Is it true?) reached the shops on 8th April – highly promoted on TV by an action called „Tolerance Day“. As always it is a song for the better ones of this world speaking about a better world and the courage of not being corrupted.

For lead singer Xavier Naidoo this track is the 49th chart hit in Germany.

German TV show Number 1 is DSDS having on 9th April a battle Europe vs. America. Winner was European Caro Emerald by having her first big success in Germany after her song was performed by Zazou Mall. Track number 2 having a huge impact by a performance in the show is Use Somebody. Marco Angelini (just eliminated 2 days ago) performed the song released in original by Kings Of Leon. The track re-enters the German list at 30.

Track Number 3 boosted by the show is Eurovision interlude song Glow. The song was performed by one of the big favourites Ardian Bujupi. Right after the show on TV the version by Norwegian MADCON climbed up the iTunes charts – enough to ensure a jump back to 41 in the week’s survey. The track now is no less than 45 consecutive weeks noted in the German charts – it is the fourth longest running track of the recent list.

Also the second song perormfed by Ardian takes a jump back. I Need A Dollar by Aloe Blacc has 28 chart weeks under its belt now and is climbing back 74–46.

The second big male favourite Pietro Lombardi also has its moment in the show. Funnily he chose (or was chosen) a song already presented in the show at thebeginning of February. Mad World had at that time a short 3 weeks chart run reaching Number 66. Now the ballad by Michael Andrews featuring Gary Jules is back at 47. It is still a very heart touching ballad – even in the version of the much too young Pietro.
