Week number five at the top for Passenger and Let Her Go.
Just Give Me A Reason–the latest single release by P!NK Featuring Nate Ruess climbs three places to number 2 giving her an 8th Top 3 hit in Germany. Also Macklemore X Ryan Lewis are still on the way up. Their Can’t Hold Us rises to number 3.
Climbing to number 7 US rapper WAX now enters the second Top 10 worldwide. Seems that Rosana is a hit only in German speaking countries as Switzerland reports position 19.
With The Lumineers entering the Top 10 Germany has three songs in there that can be counted as folkrock: it is the Nr.1 by Passenger, it is the number 9 coming from Taylor Swift and it is Ho Hey by The Lumineers at number 10. The big demand for Ho Hey probably is supported by the start of Hart of Dixie on TV–a romantic province comedy celebrating the "easy" life. The Lumineers almost two years ago had their breakthrough in the US after being the background sound for that serial.
Have I told you last week that there is a big boredom according to the origin of Top 10 songs? Well-this week it is even worse. Eight of the songs are produced in the US–two in Britain. Highest German production sits at number 14 with Sido and Bilder im Kopf. It is the worst result since November 2011 when Glasperlenspiel was the best sold German act on exactly same place.
Still two weeks ahead of his album release will.i.am’s new single #ThatPower (featuring Justin Bieber) rises 11 places. It is the third track featuring will.i.am as an artist inside the current Top 20.
The Imagine Dragons do an impressive move: Radioactivegoes 39–12 without having an official CD single in shelves neither a good promotion of the track on platforms as amazon and so on. I would call this an independent seller.
Powered by mobile company Vodafone Capital Cities launch their first chart hit with Save And Sound.
The release of the soundtrack for current season of Germany’s Next Top Model causes some single hits too. The return of Marina + The Diamonds with British nr.1 hit Spectrum (Say My Name) is the one most significant. It lands at number 53 which is indeed a new peak for the song after more than eight months since it first appeared in the list. - Second hit is a real newcomer. CHVRCHES debuts with Recover at number 55.
The Voice Kids started on April 5th with impressive rates. Some of the songs performed at the show real profit from the new exposure. Girl On Fire by Alicia Keys as an example rises 22 places.
German luca vasta debuts in the charts after she produced a song for a commercial campaign for Active O2. The TV spot is on air since easter weekend–the single Cut My Hair enters at number 72.
Danish Volbeat for the very first time releases a number 1 album. Simultanously the single Cape Of Our Hero rises 23 places to number 74 in the singles chart.

Yes, it is the fourth week on Top for Passenger and his Let Her Go. German music buyers love romantic sound. The last time a British act had four weeks at the German top is back in autumn 2011 when Calvin Harris turned Rihanna’s We Found Love into a dance track. Of course–that was not a pure British production and the four weeks were collected over a six weeks span. Well, the real British number 1 track occupying the top spot at least four weeks had its run just before Calvin Harris stormed to number 1. The one I’m talking about is Marlon Roudette. His New Age held eight weeks at the top in September and October 2011. The sound of this huge hit is almost the same as Let Her Go. So probably we will have the new song for some more weeks sitting pretty at number 1.
The only new one inside the Top 10 is Taylor Swift whose I Knew You Were Trouble dips in for the first time at number 10. It is the very first top 10 entry for the artist at all. - With this again the 10 best sold songs are mainly coming from the US (7). There are only three tracks coming from the UK and one from Germany. The big variety of productions from very different areas of this world is definitely gone.
US Rapper Wax becomes more and more popular. His single Rosana this week reaches the Top 20. In Austria the song already is a Top 10 hit.
Love some DSDS stories? Well–looks like Ricardo Bielecki is the big favourit of the season. Last week he helped Impossible becoming a hit–this week Swedish House Mafia gots a late sales boost again. Don’t You Worry Child winds up 10 places after it was performed on March 30th. It is already 29 weeks inside the list.
Further impressive performances on the show: Susan Albers performed She Wolf (Falling To Pieces)–the original recording by David Guetta Feat. SIA re-enters at number 56. + Lisa Wohlgemuth staged with I Follow Rivers–it winds up the original by Lykke Li 15 places and helps the cover by Triggerfinger back to number 100.
Some more impressive moves:
Watching Justin Bieber alongside will.i.am entering the charts as the second highest new entry at number 22 is much more worth mentioning as his upcoming single All Around The World also charts–a week before it is released as a digital single at all. It sits pretty at number 99 waiting for things to come next week.
After some weeks on air as the soundtrack for a commercial to Internet Explorer 10 Blake Lewis’ single Your Touch catches fire and rockets up 66–32.
Easter TV programme has left traces: Til Schweiger’s comedy Kokowääh was premiered on free TV–as an effect main title Snowflakes by White Apple Tree re-enters at number 36. It is the highest rank since it charted for the very first time two years ago.
A few days before their tour in Germany starts the Imagine Dragons got some heavy airplay and big promotion. Their album Night Visions rises 98–78, the single Radioactive goes 52–39.
Saturday 29th of April a national One Direction fan day were held. It boosts the single One Day Or Another back to the upper half of the German list.
The release of The Twilight Saga – Part 2 on DVD caused a new demand for one of the main tracks of the movie A Thousand Years (Part 2). The recording by Christina Perri reenters at number 87.
Some strange coinscidences: there were some news about Adam Levine–singer of Maroon 5. First of all: he was not a lady-killer when he was young. Well–very serious news. The other was about the decoration by CMI for his huge impact on pop culture. Maybe that award made some people looking for songs of the Band–Moves Like Jagger (featuring Christina Aguilera visits the charts again at number 98. The track was listed last time almost exactly a year ago.

A second week for British Passenger at bthe Top with his Let Her Go. He is the first British act since a year that can hold two consecutive weeks at the German top. Back in May last year it was Alex Clare with his Too Close who was Nr.1 for three weeks.
Folk and country (in its more pop oriented version) is highly beloved right now in Germany. Besides the Nr.1 Taylor Swift climbs to number 12 with I Knew You Were Trouble and The Lumineers reach the Top 20 with Ho Hey.
This week the sensation of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis becomes perfect as their Can’t Hold Us reaches the Top 10. It is only the third act this year having two Top 10 hits–and they are the second this year doing it simultaneously.
WAX this week becomes a Top 50 act. His Rosana jumps 57–32. In Austria the single goes straight to number 21. Seems that this track could become one of the spring tunes this year.
Last week I announced Nelly a dead superstar. This week his single Hey Porsche rises to number 62. Still not the big hit some were hoping.
After a 25 years long abstinence one of the voices of ABBA returns to the charts. Agnetha Fältskog’s single The One Who Loves You Now lands at number 71 making her the second artist with German Heino who celebrates a comeback after more than 20 years. Latter one just that current week left the list. Of course Agnetha Fältskog had chart appearances in between as a memeber of ABBA–last seen at new years week with their annual single Happy New Year.
Another act waiting for more than 15 years before re entering is Stevie B. Exactly this current week he re-enters the list after he was last seen in spring 1998. It is a remix of his Spring Love featuring Pitbull which gives him a fourth chart hit.

We do have a new Number 1. British Passenger brings his Let Her Go to number 1 in Germany also after it has peaked there already in Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Ireland, Austria and Australia. In his home country no sign of life of his hit single is been seen.
It took the singer 8 weeks to get to the top. Last time a song rose that slowly was back in spring last year when Tage wie dieser by Die Toten Hosen took also eight weeks for entering the top.
Passenger is the first British act since Adele (Skyfall who topped the charts–a five months long break now ends.
New inside the Top 10:
Pitbull Featuring Christina Aguilera who break the glass ceiling with Feel This Moment in their 8th chart week. It is Pitbull’s 8th and Christina’s 12th Top 10 hit in Germany.
Also new Das kleine Küken piept – kindergarden music by Pulcino Pio–I thought the carnival season is over.
Arriving inside the Top 20 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis now officially have got a second hit with Can’t Hold Us. The album The Heist hangs on number 16 in the album list.
Still two weeks ahead of its official international release I Need Your Love by Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding climbs 16 places and reaches number 42.
German SCHILLER is an act that has a list of chart hits but never reached the Top 10. His current single Lichtermeer also misses that goal. It is the 16th attempt of the artist–the commercial peak of his career in the singles list was last October when the collaboration with UNHEILIG shot to number 12. On the album list Schiller is much more succesfull. He already has three number 1 albums under his belt–the latest one released in October 2012 also.
Slowly an US american rap artist becomes popular for the very first time. WAX and his single Rosana rise inside the German charts to number 58. And this is the first chart entry of that artist worldwide.
Folk and country stars Mumford & Sons were on tour in Germany. In Munich there were 6.000 fans celebrating the band. As an effect I Will Wait goes up again to number 68 in its 24th chart week.
At the very low end of the survey again comes a minimal DSDS effect. After the song Get Here was performed by Simone Mangiapane the original recording by Oleta Adams from 1990 can enter the German charts for the very first time.
The heydays of rapper NELLY are gone. The anouncement of his next album M.O. only reaches a few hardcore insiders. Also teasing single Hey Porsche did not overwhelm the audience. After three weeks in shelves the track makes a first dip inside the list at number 93. It is the first appearance of the former superstar for about two years. Since there are some dance remixes around at least the dance charts see the track climbing a few places higher.
All in all there are only 12 new or re-entering tracks inside the survey–it is the lowest turnover of hits this year so far.
