After more than five years in charts Miley Cyrus for the first time can launch a Top 10 hit. Wrecking Ball stops at number 6 after the star performed the song in Germany's still most watched Saturday night TV show Wetten dass...?!. It is already her 11th chart hit – that was a long way.
Star guest number two in Wetten dass...?! came in the face of Celine Dion. Her single Loved Me Back To Life gets a sales boost and jumps 80–38. It is the highest rank the star can achieve since six years.
Hyped as the sensation of the week Lady Gaga's new album Artpop fails to become number 1. It stops at number 3 behind EMINEM and The Rolling Stones. The single Do What U Want (Feat. R. Kelly) can get some benefit from the release of the full album but also stalls at number 17 what is only a medium result for the superstar.
The real sensation of the week is the return of a 45 years old song. It was caused by–you already guess right–a performance within a casting show. Nights In White Satin is the song in question that brings after a break of 27 years British band The Moody Blues back to chart life. The song was performed at The Voice Of Germany. Thanks to Nena three candidates had to sing the classic, which started its first chart run back in March 1968 peaking at number 18 on the list issued for May 15th. It was re-released at the end of 1972 when it had a successful ride to number 1 in the US. That second chart run stopped at number 27 in Germany. In 1995 Sandra recorded a new version reaching number 86 for one single week. Now the original recording again appears at number 39 and–yes–it is far and away the eldest song charted in this decade and probably the song with the longest chart career of all times.
Hit number 2 caused by The Voice Of Germany is a classic German rock song never charted before. Ohne Dich recorded by Selig is probably one of their most popular song. When it was recorded in 1994 the band was anything but well known. The video was played on music TV in hot rotation–anyway it had no chance to chart. This year British synthpop duo HURTS offered a cover version that had a short chart appearance in September. In their concerts taking place right now in Germany that song is one of the most referred in newspapers. Now the original can made it up in the list and lands at number 52. Usually hits generated by casting show performances disappear after a single week. That destiny is very certain for Selig too. But in a few weeks a TV Noir-compilation will appear. EMINEM still is number 1 in the album's list with his The Marshall Mathers LP2. Yes, it is the fourth week on Top for Passenger and his Let Her Go. German music buyers love romantic sound. The last time a British act had four weeks at the German top is back in autumn 2011 when Calvin Harris turned Rihanna’s We Found Love into a dance track. Of course–that was not a pure British production and the four weeks were collected over a six weeks span. Well, the real British number 1 track occupying the top spot at least four weeks had its run just before Calvin Harris stormed to number 1. The one I’m talking about is Marlon Roudette. His New Age held eight weeks at the top in September and October 2011. The sound of this huge hit is almost the same as Let Her Go. So probably we will have the new song for some more weeks sitting pretty at number 1.
The only new one inside the Top 10 is Taylor Swift whose I Knew You Were Trouble dips in for the first time at number 10. It is the very first top 10 entry for the artist at all. - With this again the 10 best sold songs are mainly coming from the US (7). There are only three tracks coming from the UK and one from Germany. The big variety of productions from very different areas of this world is definitely gone.

Also with freshly released album band Silly founded 1978 sees its single Deine Stärken enter the Top 20. It is the first time that a song of the band can reach that region. Additionally they performed the song at the ECHO award ceremony on March 21st.
The ceremony aired on TV turned out to be a big sales promoter. Big winner became unsurprisingly a band that celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. Die Toten Hosen got four awards including the one as best band national, for best hit and best album. At the show they performed with Hannes Wader. Agnetha Fältskog’s single The One Who Loves You Now lands at number 71 making her the second artist with German Heino who celebrates a comeback after more than 20 years. Latter one just that current week left the list. Of course Agnetha Fältskog had chart appearances in between as a memeber of ABBA–last seen at new years week with their annual single Happy New Year.
Another act waiting for more than 15 years before re entering is Stevie B. Exactly this current week he re-enters the list after he was last seen in spring 1998. It is a remix of his Spring Love featuring Pitbull which gives him a fourth chart hit.

We do have a new Number 1. British Passenger brings his Let Her Go to number 1 in Germany also after it has peaked there already in Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Ireland, Austria and Australia. In his home country no sign of life of his hit single is been seen.
It took the singer 8 weeks to get to the top. Last time a song rose that slowly was back in spring last year when Tage wie dieser by Die Toten Hosen took also eight weeks for entering the top.

After three weeks in shelves the track makes a first dip inside the list at number 93. It is the first appearance of the former superstar for about two years. Since there are some dance remixes around at least the dance charts see the track climbing a few places higher.
All in all there are only 12 new or re-entering tracks inside the survey–it is the lowest turnover of hits this year so far.
