March 31st 17: Best Performing #1 Of The Decade

Indeed it is Ed Sheeran's 12th week at #1 with Shape Of You. It now doubles the result of Human by Rag'n'Bone Man at the end of past year which became the longest running #1 hit by a British male solo artist since the beginning of weekly chart issues. In one point Ed Sheeran tops Rag'n'Bone Man–he is the first British one with 12 consecutive weeks at #1. To find a similar run one had to go back to summer 2004 when Moldavian O-Zone had a non interrupted run of 14 weeks with Dragostea Din Tei. Meaning Shape Of You now is the longest running #1 of the current decade.

The top 6 of the list looks almost identically whilst at #7 a new hot hit stops. It is the new offering by Jason Derulo Feat. Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign and named Swalla that goes six further places in its fifth chart week. With this leading artist Derulo adds a seventh top 10 hit to his account, Nicki Minaj already counts while Ty Dolla $ign gots his third. Only Jason Derulo managed doing so on his own–both featured artists had all their top10 entries as featured guests. Three of the Nicki Minaj hits were presented by David Guetta alone.

A second testosterone flavored song enters the top 10 exactly at #10. It is the collaboration of Luis Fonsi Ft. Daddy Yankee Despacito. For Daddy Yankee it is a return to hit status after 12 years. Back in June 2005 he peaked at #7 with Gasolina.

DRAKE's album More Life goes 7–13 in its second week. Leading single Passionfruit takes the opposite way. It goes 27–18 and is the first top 20 entry for the Canadian since his big #1 hit One Dance one year ago.
Also Get It Together featuring Black Coffee & Jorja Smith, Blem and Portland are doing climbs upwards. First one ten places to #67, second seven places to #73 and the third six places to #77. That behavior is really unusual for album tracks.

The album with the biggest impact is not the one occupying #1 (the reunion of the Kelly Family) but it is #2: Maxwell and his Kohldampf. Propelled by the album release also single tracks made it in the list–the best one landing at #41 Stress mit mir (featuring RAF Camora). Three further songs enter at the lower end of the list plus Safari from Maxwell's past EP re-enters at #95.

Gainers of the week
Symphony Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson +23 places to #25 in its 2nd chart week
Cold Maroon 5 Ft. Future +17 places to #43 in its sixth chart week due to a new available remix by Hot Shade & Mike Perry
September Song JP. Cooper +15 places to #56 in its 3rd chart week

Not real a big gainer but well–reaching a new peak in its 11th chart week Wincent Weiss achieves his third top50 hit with Feuerwerk stopping by at #47. Unter meiner Haut and Musik sein both performed much better by gaining #6 in spring 2015 and #27 in autumn 2016.
Same situation for Zuna. ?Wieso? reaches #50 as his third song inside the upper half in 2016 alone.
