April 15th 16: 10th Week At #1 For Alan Warker

Indeed Faded by Alan Walker spends a tenth week at the top. It is this a second time within six months that a #1 reaches a double figure which reflects how calm music market today appears. For finding a similar feat one has to go back to the early 90s when there was the slowest turnover of #1 hits of whole chart history.
Similar to the early 90s this is the 50th consecutive week with a #1 at least involving a European act.

The presence of Europeans abruptly stops at #2 where SIA Feat. Sean Paul rise to. Cheap Thrills now marks the peak of SIA's career outselling even the David Guetta colaboration She Wolf. She also is the highest performing Australian since end of 2013 when Pnau had the chance of becoming #1 as featured act Faul & Wad Ad. For Sean Paul it is the second time that he visits the runner's up position. Still he waits for his first #1 hit.

Slow charts also mean songs are spending longer time inside the survey. With Love Yourself by Justin Bieber this week a song has its 20th week in the top 10. It is already the second song this year collecting as much weeks. All together there are six songs under the first 10 that already spent 10 weeks there.

It ain't all about calmness–a few songs made their way steadily up. In this week Albanian Era Istrefi reaches the top20 with BonBon. The song slowly infects whole Europe and does have best perspectives of becoming a huge summer hit. In Germany it lands this week at #15. Also on the rise and a hit for sure in a few days Cake By The Ocean by DNCE is. It goes 24–18 this current week.

The highest new entry is a spectacular one. Not due to the height where it starts chart life–although #24 is a higher one in 2016. But cause of the artists involved. Canadian Drake involved for recording his One Dance Nigerian WizKid which makes the latter one the best performing Nigerian musician living still in Nigeria ever. Of course there were a view Nigerians having international pop success–Sade, Dr. Alban or even Nneka had had hits–but they'r all living for yours outside the African country. The very first Nigerian based act appeared in spring 2012 in the face of D'Banj. It was a short story. WizKid could be one with a longer appearance.

At #27 the new single by Nena lands. Genau jetzt is the 44th chart entry under her own name spanning a time of more than 33 years and it is her highest appearance since spring 2011 when she had a top 20 hit with Strobo Pop acompanying Die Atzen.
The new success comes due to her participation on the Sing meinen Song show. On April 12th the first episode 2016 was aired focussing on songs on her.

The event of the business took place on Thursday April 7th when the ECHO award show was held. Some of the performing artists get a sales boost after aired on TV as there are:
The Weeknd gaining 11 places appearing with The Hills at #40 in its 44th chart week
Udo Lindenberg's Durch die schweren zeiten becomes the best gainer by jumping 38 places to #41. The song started seven weeks ago at #26.
Sarah Connor returns to #62 (coming from 80) with Kommst du mit ihr–peaking position of the song reached already six weeks ago.
Somehow also Roland Kaiser benefits of the show. He was honoured with an award for social engagement–as an effect his latest hit Warum hast du nicht nein gesagt returns to #76. The song now sneaks in for a tenth chart week in more than a year never getting higher than #55.
Newcomer JORIS got three awards (Best newcomer, radio award, critics award). is Herz über Kopf re-enters at #84 after being performed on the show as well.

Songs worth watching:
80 MIllionen by Max Giesinger going 52–37 in its third chart week
PANDA by Desiigner going 67–50 in its second week
